    Physical Description:
Leo stands at 5’11 in height, slim but athletic and muscular. His shoulders are not very broad, and at times it still feels like he is growing into his body. His skin is fair, but tans rather than burns. His hair is naturally a medium brown and curly, though it becomes darker in the winter. Leo’s eyebrows are thick and hardly have any arch to them. Naturally, Leo is a bit on the hairier side. He detests being hairy, and uses magical means to remove most of his body hair (or at least thin it.) However, he is proud of the thick stubble that shows up after about a day of not shaving.

Leo has high cheekbones and a slender face. His jaw is well defined, and his mouth is small though his lips are full. His nose is not perfectly straight, but it swoops down and ends in a point. From the front, his nose looks soft and a little bit on the larger side. His blue eyes are framed by thick brown lashes, and have a deceivingly gentle look to them.  He is mildly nearsighted, and sometimes wears glasses. However, he feels like they make him look awful, so he tries to restrict his glasses usage to situations where he absolutely needs them

    Personality Description:
Leo is a man of vice. He loves to drink, he loves to smoke, and he is quick to anger. He is impatient, easily jealous and envious of others, and is not against using any bit of profanity that pops into his head. He is far from humble, and is very vain, taking care to keep himself well groomed. He is quick to make decisions without thinking them through. Leo is unforgiving and spiteful when he feels someone has done him a deep personal wrong. Despite these traits, Leo is ambitious, hardworking, and naturally intelligent. He is responsible when he has accepted responsibility given to him, but irresponsible when people try to force him to take responsibilities that he does not want.

He is sympathetic and genuinely concerned about others who are going through a tough time, though he also has a tendency to show an unsettling lack in emotional sensitivity—putting himself first before even considering the feelings of others. Leo’s idea of comforting someone in distress is offering them a smoke to relax. Leo is active, energetic, and assertive. Sometimes, he can take his assertiveness too far and it turns quickly into aggression.  Leo does not like to plan ahead, but prefers to live in the moment.  He is willful and forward, and does not seem like the type who would be a good student.

Leo takes his studies seriously. He wants to become a successful wizard that others look up to. He wants to be somebody that others want to be. Although he has never met his father, he views him as a man who is independent and free of emotional connections that hold others back, and that is the kind of man that Leo wants to be. He is very protective of the people he is close to, like his mother and a few dear friends.

    History:
Leo was a product of a one night stand between Carmen Duarte, a muggleborn witch, and a wizard.  He lived in Madrid, Spain for the first fewyears of his life before Carmen decided she needed a change. She took Leo to Marseilles, France, and works as a barmaid. Carmen was a Beauxbatons alum, and felt like her alma matter was the perfect place for her little boy to go to school. She pushed him to become strong and independent, and was very open about telling Leo who his biological father was, but also forbade him from making any contact with him due to the nature of his job, and because  that she did not want the father to feel obligated to support her because he gave her a son. The only thing that Leo was raised knowing, was his father’s name, and the fact that he was an important government worker. He also suspected that his father had darker coloring, because Carmen is a woman who is incredibly pale with banana-blonde hair and blue eyes.

His mother never had a lot of money, so Leo was raised in semi-poverty. They live in a one-bedroom flat. As a child he shared a room with his mother—as he got older, his mom insisted that he take the room, but he refused to have it. As a result, he doesn’t have his own space, but simply sleeps on the couch due to his own stubbornness. He is incredibly close to his mother, and his quick to defend her when others criticize her life choices and decisions. When he was thirteen years old, Carmen got him a guitar for his birthday, knowing that he wanted to learn. Leo felt guilty for a while, knowing that it must have taken his mother months (maybe even a year or two) to save up for such a thing.

During his years at Beauxbatons, he has proven to be both a troublemaker and a fantastic student. He has been responsible for several pranks (and he has been punished accordingly.) In his younger years, he was much more of a prankster than he is now, having learned that such behavior is not acceptable at Beauxbatons.  He has learned to keep any frowned-down-upon behavior on the down low, and usually keeps the partying to a minimum. He doesn’t want to ruin his chances at entering the tournament, nor does he want to get in trouble with the schools. He has excelled in charms and transfiguration, and has studied classical and jazz guitar. He has discovered that his weakest subjects are Herbology and potions, and he has a fascination with ancient runes, though he would never want to make a career out of it.

Why Was The Student Allowed/Permitted To Attend The Tournament?: He was chosen because he is highly intelligent, quick to learn, and is skilled with wand magic. He is ambitious and competitive. His troublemaking history almost prevented him from being able to attend, but because he has seemingly cleaned up his act over the last year or two, he has been given this chance.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Leo is a Beauxbatons student raised in poverty by a single mother. He is both a troublemaker and a good student, as he is determined to make a name for himself in the world. Leo is stubborn, protective, jealous, determined, and ambitious. He may come off as a bit of a jerk, but deep down he has a good heart. He has built up the idea of his biological father in his head, and strives to be what he thinks his father is.
