[November 8] Study Buddies (Trystan, Open) on September 03, 2012, 07:21:13 PM It was true that Eliza Burley never boasted of being a studious Ravenclaw. But given her mother's profession as a herbologist and an author, the easy going Hufflepuff often knew more about the subjects of Herbology and Potions than many of her academic minded peers. Yet she was never one to boast about it because though she loved what her mother did and had grown up with it, she had no intentions of pursuing it as a career path. Maybe, maybe if she didn't succeed as a musician, she would consider doing something in that field, but for now she planned to do music even if she had to be a starving artist, as her father often called it.Still, over the years, Eliza had become friendly with some of her classmates who enjoyed getting together for study sessions. There was never any set roster and people came and went as often as friendships did, but usually everyone brought an expertise or two to share with the others. Eliza credited the group for getting her through her OWLS, even if all she had wanted to do was jam out with the Lipstick Wrock Chicks in her free time.Eliza arrived at the table that was usually claimed by the group and started to unpack her bag of books and study "provisions".Hearing the movements of another approaching, she absently asked, "I stole some snacks from kitchens in case we needed a sugar boost later. Not sure if I should have conned the house elves out of anything else..." The last place Trystan wanted to be at the moment, but yet here he was. He pushed open the door and walked in towards the table that was usually claimed by some Ravenclaws and grabbed the first seat he saw. Being in the library was the result of a very fierce howler from his mother that almost singed his eyebrows off when it exploded. She was frustrated with him because he didn't put more of an effort into his schoolwork. It was frustrating Trystan because even though he had decent marks on all his work, that his mother was angry with him because he hardly took the time to study. The reason she knew that, was because of his nosy little brother who writes home about everything. He looked up and saw Eliza sitting across from him, "'Lo Eliza." he mumbled as he pulled out parchment, ink and quill, as well as his books. He didn't need to be here, he knew what he needed to know. Then he thought, maybe he should try to study a little, he was a 7th year after all, and you can never study too much in your last year of school. With that thought in the back of his mind he opened his Herbology book and then stopped and looked at Eliza, "Got any chocolate?" For one can never study without a decent supply of chocolate. Out of those many things, he decided to join the 7th years study group. It was a hit and miss thing really, sometimes he went, sometimes he didn't. Today the study group sounded far more entertaining than sitting in the Gryffindor common room reading some random book. At least with the study group there would be talking and interaction involved. What was the point of sitting alone when he could be far more entertained with a group after all?Walking into the library Gabe dropped his bag with his study stuff onto the table a couple of other 7th years were already at. Taking a seat he nodded to the two of them with a smile. "Hey there." Noticing they were getting their herbology books and things out he did the same. Plants were fascinating, if just in the fact some could strangle a person from one small mistake. That was a situation he would absolutely love to avoid. Strangulation by plants would not be a fun way to go, nor would it make a good story. He stopped flipping through the pages and let the book fall open to a random page. Leaning back in his chair, he looked at the newcomer. "You're Gabe right? Sorry, have a bit of trouble with names and the faces that go with them."He thought he knew everyone that was in their 7th year, but then again, it was a big school, he couldn't be expected to remember everyone, especially when he barely remembered half the people from his own house. "I'd rather be outside." he mumbled, but as he brushed a strand of hair out of his eyes, he remembered his mother's howler and decided to stick it out._______________________________________________________________________________________Sorry my posts are so short, I'm drawing blanks when it comes to posting Skip to next post Re: [November 8] Study Buddies (Trystan, Open) Reply #4 on September 04, 2012, 11:00:05 PM Eliza finally looked up to see the Ravenclaw boy ask about chocolate and a grin immediately came to her lips. She was about to respond when there was another arrival. Greeting them both at once, Eliza said, "Hello boys. Ready for a late night?" Scrunching up her face, she tacked on, "Just kidding. We don't have to stay long today if you don't want to. End of term is still a ways away and there's no need to be stressed."Giving a shrug, she sat down and pushed the chocolate she had brought towards Trystan. "I have some chocolate chip cookies too if you like those." Turning to Gabriel, she asked, "What is your poison?" Honestly, he didn't know why he had brought his Herbology with him, he didn't need to study that. Anything that had to do with herbs or plants used in healing he already knew. He wrote a few notes down and then ate the other piece of chocolate. He hated that his mother had guilted him into studying more. She was always trying to get him to settle down like his brother. 'It should be the other way around though, she should be trying to get him to act like me', he thought. But his little brother had always been a tad more favored in his mother's eyes. I've nothing else that needs to get done." Studying was important of course, it helped to prepare for... well, anything really. Which was one reason he didn't mind meeting up with the group whenever they did, unless there was something else that was going on that was more important. One could never know after all.Glancing over the snacks at all the table it wasn't until Eliza mentioned the cookies that Gabriel took a real interest. He had eaten not long before but there was always a little bit of extra room. Grinning a bit he reached and grabbed one of the cookies. "I've always been a sucker for good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies, actually." Sitting back he took a bite out of one and glanced over at Trystan. Trystan said to the students at the table. Honestly he didn't know why he just blurted that out. That was the last thing he wanted to say. He hoped that someone didn't put something into the cookies that made you say what you were thinking. It would be a very cruel trick to play on people just coming together for a study session.
