The entire class landed easily in Hogsmeade's fountain square and then the whole lot of them were given a half-hour of free time at the shops. Hooch stayed round the Three Broomsticks with other students who opted to spend their time and coin on chips and pumpkin juice by the warm fire.
The bell tolled, and Hooch rounded them all up for the chilly flight home. She sure that by the time they landed again, they'd be ready to snuggle up and pass out in a late afternoon nap. But that was always a good feeling, the warming up and and calming down after a long brisk ride on broomstick. Hell, it was a thing that made life worth living! A witch or wizard aboard a broom was the most natural thing there was.
The ride back was smoother with everyone having got the knack of a longer ride more or less.
Back in the courtyard the students handed in their brooms and Hooch left them with ominous parting words.
"And don't forget: your Flying Examination is coming up very soon. You must pass this course in order to be allowed use of a broom while at Hogwarts and to participate in Quidditch. Now, there are remedial flying classes offered in the spring term, but trust me on this. You'll prefer to pass it the first time around. So, be prepared. Now, off with you! Go get warm."
Thanks all! I'll post house points shortly.
