Wand: Charlie carries a wand made of cherry wood. With the core of Dragon Heartstring, the pliable eleven inches has no fancy markings or distinguishing features, unless you call ordinary and mundane a distinguishing feature.
Physical Description: Charlie’s babying features are slowly fading away. His once rounded, childlike face has finally become strong-boned and clear cut. His jaw juts out slightly from his face, but not in an overly noticeable way. He isn’t a very muscular guy; in fact, he is rather scrawny and puny.
His hair is a golden color, much to the surprise of his dark-haired family. The short strands can usually be found spiked upon his head in a cute schoolboy way.
Charlie’s eyes are an astonishing blue/green, depending on his surroundings. People have said that he has chameleon eyes, though it isn’t really that noticeable, they simply change according to what he’s wearing, what color room he may be in, really anything that’s full of color and life around him.
Sadly, the rest of Charlie’s facial features aren’t nearly as interesting. His nose is as common as they come, jutting right out between his eyeballs like everyone else’s. His mouth is thin, but not unnoticeable. His ears are the same size, but unless you really know Charlie, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell that his left ear sits slightly lower on his head than his right. It’s a flaw that bugs him constantly.
He likes to wear flashy clothes that get him noticed, taking drastic measures to alter his school uniform to suit his fancy. He doesn’t do anything crazy, just a little bling here, and a little glam there. He has an insatiable thing for hats. He has so many colors, styles, and fashions that he can coordinate a stylish cap with any outfit.
Personality Description: Though it may not seem like it, Charlie is not a feminine guy. Sure, he’s a fashion guru, but he’s also a very competitive Quidditch supporter. He is competitive through and through, even on things that don’t really matter. He loves to win, and will do almost anything to do so, as long as it’s a fair game.
He is very sensitive to other people’s feelings, putting his own aside to make others happy, even when they hurt him. Charlie is a very friendly guy, bubbly and chipper even when things aren’t looking very bright. He likes to light up people’s gloomy days with a burst of laughter and silliness.
He isn’t one to make enemies, or one to keep them. Even if someone’s done him wrong, Charlie still forgives them, even until their dying breath. He feels that anyone can change at any given moment and he wants to be there when it happens, so that he can make even more friends. Deep down, all Charles really wants is acceptance. He feels that if he can make everyone else like him, then those who don’t will see reason.
Charles is very set in his ways. He stands up for what is right and will fight for the right to choose what is right for all his days. He is an avid reader, making him knowledgeable, though he doesn’t run around slamming people because of it.
History: From the moment Selena and Gawain laid eyes on their new baby boy, they knew things would have to change. It was a joyous occasion, butterbeer and cigars all around, the night that Charles Devon became the newest member of the Robards clan. He was the first, and the last child born of the happily married couple.
Charles’ younger years were divine, trips to the Ministry with his father, torturing his mother at home with whiny phrases repeated over and over again and jumping behind corners causing his mother to splatter the wall with any means of things; dinner, clothes, shoes, whatever she may have been handling at the time she chose to ‘round the corner.
Life was good. Gawain brought home a pretty hefty salary from the Ministry, and his mum hung up her quill as a reporter to stay home and take care of him. What could be better? On Charlie’s fifth birthday, his daddy bought him a real broom! It went like two feet into the air! It was so cool! No matter how hard he tried though, he just couldn’t get the dang thing to keep him up. His chubby little self kept falling off.
Even though it must have looked hilarious, his parents never laughed at him, they always told him to “Get back up there and try again”, and so that’s what he did. He tried and tried until he got it right. Eventually he was flying around the yard causing all kinds of mayhem.
Not long after that, things started to change. Namely, his father. The Prophet was spouting lies about Dumbledore and Potter, and for some odd reason, his father and mother couldn’t agree on anything anymore. They fought constantly, and eventually, Selena and Charlie left. They went to stay with Selena’s sister, a witch living in a small suburban subdivision on the outskirts of London.
Charlie had to be really careful not to do any cool magic around his new friends because mum said he would get into a lot of trouble for it. He wanted to know where his dad was, why they weren’t together anymore, but his mother said that he wasn’t the man we used to know… whatever that meant.
Somewhere in the midst of growing up a war was fought, though some say that growing up is a war within itself. Soon his father’s face showed up in the Prophet, a leader in the Ministry should have known, should have seen the signs of You-Know-Who’s uprising! Little Charlie didn’t buy too much into the whole wizarding war, what’s a soul-splitting demon to a seven year old boy?
Eventually the fall of Voldemort was upon them, and everyone’s lives returned to normal. Well, as normal as possible after the crud that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named brought upon Britain. His daddy was back, the same guy he had known years previous. The family picked up where they left off, loving each other eternally.
Finally, after waiting for what seemed like years, Charlie’s letter came. It was addressed directly to him! It wasn’t often that mail came looking for Mr. Charles Robards, nor was it often that Charlie gave a crud for mail; but this was different.
It was an invitation, an invitation to the most prestigious school in all the land: Hogwarts. Needless to say, the bouncing; bubbling boy was thrilled. Upon arriving at the school, he was sorted into the house of Hufflepuff. A house that not many favored, but little Charlie fit in perfectly. His entire first year was spent finding his way around the school. Sure, he knew how to get to his classes within the first two weeks, but he wanted to KNOW the school, learn all its secrets.
You see, the school had always enchanted Charles’ young mind, it was always something he was fascinated with, and now he would have the chance to live there, for seven years! He made friends quickly, those from his house, and from others. He was a very amiable guy, and animated. It wasn’t hard to make friends.
Through the rest of his years he pranked, played, and protected kids throughout the school. He didn’t favor students from one house and bash another, he loved all, even the dirty rotten Slytherins. Finally, in his fourth year, he decided to audition for the Quidditch team. They were down a chaser and needed someone fast. Charlie was that person. He wasn’t the best, that was for sure, but he wasn’t totally hopeless either.
Now, as his sixth year draws to a close, where will Charlie end up? He has no clue as to what his future holds, he just hopes that he will have his friends with him along the way.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Hufflepuffs are very charismatic people. They’re always around to lend a helping hand, or two, when needed. They are loyal and fierce when it comes to protecting their friends, and they’re good at whatever they set their minds to.
Writing Sample:The dark halls of the dungeon dorms were void of the usual hustle and bustle that usually careened through the boisterous common room. It was quiet, eerily so, in the early morning hours of the room. The only audible sounds came from two places; the fire cackling merrily in the fireplace, and the scratching of quill on parchment as a lone student sat scratching who knows what on the pad.
Charles Devon Robards was a smart boy, one could be certain of that. He was always ahead in his studies, though how he managed that, no one knew. There, in the hallowed halls of Helga Hufflepuff, the sixth year student sat. On the pad, an essay on the Goblin Wars was forming. The two foot paper was due less than twelve hours from that very moment, and though Charlie had had almost two weeks to buckle down and get the paper finished, he waited until the night before to try and scribble some bit of information to get him through.
This wasn’t the first night it had happened either, oh no. House-elves around the school will testify to that. Many nights Charlie would fall asleep to the sound of the fire, flames dancing around, making images appear in the Hufflepuff’s head.
Slowly, after ages of writing, the boy got up, stretching his fingers, trying to work out the soreness from the violent writing that had just occurred. Charlie let out a sigh of relief, the paper was finished, and he still had time to get in a good power nap before breakfast.
After stifling a yawn, he picked up his recently completed composition and cleaned his things off the table. After placing the things back into his bag all pell-mell and returning the cushioned chair to its rightful position, he headed off to the dorm room, bag slung over his shoulder.
Sum up your character in one paragraph:Charlie is fun, pure and simple. He is a great guy to be around, even though he can sometimes get a little annoying with the pestering and pranking. He may be a little misguided, but is easygoing and fun loving. When people get to know Charlie they become his friends for life. He is a very forgiving person, which could be his greatest flaw. He is a Hufflepuff through and through.
