[Elijah G.] on August 21, 2012, 11:21:10 PM 9:18 amOkay, she thought, sitting on a stone bench anxiously. Why am I out here? she wondered, the possibilities of what could happen testing her nerves. Her leg shook steadily for several minutes non-stop, causing the zipper on her vest to jingle with the metal leaf of her necklace. It was a bit chilly on this crisp November morning, and rubbing her arms only did so much to warm her up. She mentally cursed herself for not bringing her jacket for the first time. The easy solution to this would be to venture back into her dorm on the seventh floor and get it, but she was afraid she would miss her appointment.Jazelle Hawke was waiting in the Gardens of Hogwarts for someone to arrive. They didn't know they were expected, nor did she know who this person was. She didn't even know why this meeting so important as to have an urgent vision of it in the middle of the night. However urgent, she sensed no danger regarding the nature of this meeting, which was both a relief and confusing. If it was nothing dangerous then why was it so important? One drawback to being a Seer at her age was the lack of specific information. She knew this encounter would be today, and she knew it would be at this exact spot. What she didn't know was the time of which this was to take place. All she saw as a clue to the time of day was the overcast of daylight. This is why she had been waiting at the bench for almost an hour since she got up--even skipping breakfast. Jazelle was getting a bit irritable at the uncertainty of what was to come. Sometimes I hate having this ability, she thought bitterly, sighing in frustration. Why can't I just be blissfully ignorant?Alright, that's it!Bending over to drag her bag out from behind her feet, she flipped it open and reached in for her sketchbook. If she was going to sit there all day until the person showed up, she should at least busy her hands. Skip to next post Re: [November 7] What's so special about you? [Elijah G.] Reply #1 on August 22, 2012, 11:28:20 PM Most of the students decided to stay indoors this morning, simply because they didn’t have any reason to brave the chill. Elijah Grimlish had woken earlier than normal, his familiar, a bat named Vlad, was pestering him with a letter from home and the excited little vampire bat didn’t exactly deal with the indoors very well, unless it was the Grimlish manor, where bats were more than welcome. Unable to sleep, Eli had gotten all bundled up and headed to breakfast early. Just like most growing boys, he had a bottomless pit for a stomach and so after a plate full of eggs, potatoes, toast and a bowl of cereal, Eli could still feel the pangs of his hunger. He scarfed down another few bites and grabbed a couple of pieces of buttered toast to munch on while he went to work.He wanted to go down to the greenhouses and take a few snips of some belladonna, his potion-making kit was getting low, and he really liked to use fresh specimens whenever possible. He was sure that Professor Longbottom wouldn’t mind him taking a few leaves, he probably wouldn’t even notice. He whistled a tune from Nola and the Knocturnites and danced a bit as he headed down the chilly lawns, munching on a piece of toast as he went. The buttery bread tasted delicious and he congratulated himself silently on a well-made decision. He saw a lone figure, scantily clad for the weather, sitting at a stone bench, not too far away and decided to head over. “Hey, it’s a little chilly out here… you alright?” he asked her, plopping down beside her trying to look over her shoulder to see what she was sketching. “You want one of my jackets? I put on two this morning,” He said and put the paper napkin with the toast on it between them on the bench and started unzipping his layers. [Elijah G.] Reply #2 on August 23, 2012, 12:37:19 AM Soon Jazelle got lost in the drawing and the cold became like white noise as she expertly scratched her pencil along the paper. The image of the scene was imprinted in her mind and memory, and for a few instances her brain got ahead of her hand. She already made it through the base of the sketch and the finer details of shading before a male voice signaled the meeting had begun. The vision specified the person would be a boy, but little else. To her surprise, as she turned her head to look at him, he had, without permission, plopped down beside her. It was someone she didn't even know, either. He had dark hair, somewhat short yet with a little length, and round blueish eyes. He was very pale, too, and something else about him seemed to stand out that she couldn't quite place. As he unzipped his jacket she just stared, expression unreadable as she tried deciphering what was so special about this boy--this boy she had a seemingly important vision about--and how she should go about talking to him."Do I know you?" she asked, completely missing the part in which the boy offered her one of his jackets. Jazelle was also too caught up on the boy that she failed to cover her drawing. "Sorry, I just. I don't... remember you." she added, feeling a bit rude admitting this. "Usually people's faces ring a bell, but, it's like you just fell from the sky," she continued, but then realized what that comment could be perceived as: a pick up line. "Or popped out of the ground like a dwarf. Not that you're short. Or hairy. It's jut an analogy. A rather poor one, though. Sorry."At her odd rambling she opted to smack her lips together tightly before she said anything else that would get the boy to leave. Don't scare off this boy, idiot."I'm Jazz. Short for Jazelle. Hawke is my last name." she said as her throat progressively tightened, rubbing under her right eye out of nerves. What she didn't realize is that her fingers were stained with pencil, and some of it rubbed off on her face. Skip to next post Re: [November 7] What's so special about you? [Elijah G.] Reply #3 on August 24, 2012, 12:21:59 AM Eli wasn’t exactly sure what to think as he sat, stupidly holding his jacket out for the girl to take. Of course he knew who she was, and he supposed it wasn’t too out of the way to believe that she didn’t know who he was. Or if she did know him, she’d know him as ‘the Grimlish boy’. She was Head Girl, she was president of the Hogwarts Players, she was gorgeous. She was an older girl, a Gryffindor, if he remembered correctly, but that didn’t mean that Eli didn’t admire her. His smile had faltered when she didn’t recognize him. They had been in the same classes all term, and he had been watching her from a distance since his second year. When she said her name, his smile was right back in place. He knew that she preferred the name Jazz, but he thought that Jazelle was an absolutely beautiful name. He laughed as she called him a dwarf and secretly agreed with her analogy. He did seem to grow hair awfully quickly, and he obviously wasn’t the tallest kid in their year. “I’m Eli, Elijah Grimlish,” He said brightly, shaking the jacket in front of her face. “You want my jacket? I got two, see?” He said, pointing with his free hand to his chest. “I got some toast too, if you’re hungry. I was just headed out to the greenhouses to snip some plants, but they can wait.” He decided not to be rude and point out that she had smudges on her face, he thought she looked pretty either way. “You’re a really talented artist, I never would have guessed.” Skip to next post Re: [November 7] What's so special about you? [Elijah G.] Reply #4 on August 24, 2012, 01:22:09 AM Another Elijah. She always liked the name. Elijah Grimlish. With a polite smile she added his name into her internal data bank for future reference. The name kind of maybe somewhat sounded a little bit familiar. Or maybe it sounded familiar because Grimlish was close to Simlish..."Are you a Ravenclaw?" she asked, certain this was the truth. Her gut instinct was usually spot on, and with the added Sight it was almost guaranteed."Oh!" she chirped, noticing the jacket being offered to her. "That's okay, really," she assured, but a wave of shivers betrayed her and she hesitantly gave in. "Alright. Thanks," she said sheepishly, carefully taking the jacket and wrapping it around her shoulders, but not yet sticking her arms in the sleeves. It was surprisingly thick yet lightweight. It was probably made out of denim, she figured, and as she admired the light beige color, she detected a pleasant and subtle scent of tea leaves. Smells really good, she noted, and eyed the food in Elijah's hand."Oh, uh, thanks?" she added softly, taking a bit of toast from Elijah as if unsure it was real. "I hadn't actually had breakfast either, so, this is kind of perfect timing on your part. I'm usually prepared," she said with a nervous laugh. "I don't like to go anywhere without being sure I'll come back in the same condition I left. Not very reckless of a Gryffindor, is it?"Jazelle's eyes widened at the comment of her being a talented artist. "Oh n'uma[1]!" she gasped, looking down at her very exposed drawing in shock. Instinctively she covered it with her arms, but then realized there was no point since he obviously got a good look at it. "Well aren't I on top of things?" she said sarcastically to herself, letting out a shaky and throaty laugh. "Thank you, though. It's from The Legend of Zelda? The video game series?"Shut up, Jazz. It's a muggle thing. He's not going to know.Sighing, she carefully stuck her arms through the sleeves of Elijah's jacket and reveled in the warmth it gave her. "Sorry. To be honest, this isn't even an off day for me. Though, the morning is still young. You never know what could be waiting around the corner about to pounce." she said with a crooked smile, finally looking at him. "Are you usually this generous to strangers?" she asked, sniffing the piece of toast before taking a hearty bite out of it. She didn't realize she was this hungry."You know, you don't have to put off your date with the foliage just to humor me. I promise you'll see your jacket again," she said after swallowing, licking her lips free of crumbs. 1. Elvish for "Oh no!" Skip to next post Re: [November 7] What's so special about you? [Elijah G.] Reply #5 on September 08, 2012, 12:56:02 AM Eli nodded to the pretty witch when she asked about his house. Even he wasn’t sure why he was a Ravenclaw most of the time, but he was and that was all that mattered. When she almost refused to take his jacket, he let out a joyful laugh. It was much too cold for her to not accept his generosity. He really hoped that he hadn’t been sweating in the jacket or anything; he didn’t want her to think he was stinky. Stinky guys were so not cool.He smiled up at her, tearing his eyes away from the drawing. “It’s okay. I guess it’s just intuition. Mum always said that I’m a seer, albeit in a different way. She says that I have feelings instead of visions. I think she’s full of bull, but I’d never tell her that.” He was rambling again. He raised his hand to slap his forehead against his palm, but decided better of it and let his hand drop lamely by his side. Great. Now he looked like an idiot.Elijah, of course, had no clue what Zelda was, but he didn’t want to look unintelligent, so he said, “Oh, yeah… I think I’ve heard of that,” Total lie. “Naw, I don’t have to pick right now. Good company and a good conversation is so much better than plants anyway.” He said, widening his grin. I'm so sorry for the late post! Skip to next post Re: [November 7] What's so special about you? [Elijah G.] Reply #6 on September 13, 2012, 01:18:41 AM Her eyebrow quirked at the mention of Elijah being a Seer. Well, this was a new topic of conversation she never experienced. Never had she listened to someone talk about how they could potentially have the sight. Maybe this was what made her find him. Maybe this is what was so special about the boy. If he was a Seer of some sort, maybe she was supposed to...... To what? Help him? How could she help him when she's having trouble with the 'gift' herself? If anyone should help him it should be Maiko. She, at least, had years of experience to back her up, and knew how to deal with it. But, perhaps there was something more to learn from the Ravenclaw. She'd have to dig a little deeper, though, not all at once. That might scare him off. Ease into it.Jazelle laughed when Elijah was about to smack himself in the forehead, recognizing what could be going through his head at the moment. Man, how she had her moments like that."Kind of sounds like an Empath. That's incredibly fascinating, I've always wanted to learn more about it." she said, reassuring Elijah that it was okay to talk about. "You're the Divination Club President, right? I would've joined again this year, but I have my hands full with running the Players." Then he seemed to lie about knowing about Zelda, but she didn't feel like probing him about it.She snorted. "Good company and good conversation," she repeated lightly, grinning back at him. "Let's see how long I can keep this up without turning into a bumbling, rambling mess. I'm better on stage in terms of communication," she added with with a smirk, and finished off the piece of toast as she stuck her sketchbook and charcoal back in her bag. Catching glimpse of her reflection from one of the pins on her bag, she sighed in mock frustration after seeing the charcoal smeared on her face."Of course," she said with another sigh, more to herself as she began wiping it away with the back of her hand. It didn't occur to her that Elijah must've noticed this before and didn't say anything."So, Elijah, along with being a Diviner with a Green Thumb, what else can I learn about you from this meeting?" she asked, focusing her attention on the boy, but allowing herself to remain in a casual position on the bench, leg crossing the other with arms resting comfortably in her lap.
