    Muggleborn

    Housewife

    Wand

    Wood: Cherry, 10 inches
    Core: Unicorn Hair
    Strength: Springy
    Surface: Spiraled Shaft

Ollivander's. Has olive leaves carved around the handle. Light brown wood, well-polished, red linen wrapped around the base of wand above the handle.

    Appearance

Short jaw-length hair framing her face with loose curls. Her hair is black, but greying. She stands about 5’4”.

Looks friendly and hospitable. Has blue eyes with hazel edges, very bright and gives her a look of being constantly alert and intelligent. Has quite a few age lines on her face, but looks more of a kindly young grandmother. Her skin is light olive.

Generally dresses in shirts and jeans, and keeps up quite well with current trends. Wears strapless knee-length dresses to formal occasions.

    Personality

Lydia is friendly, amiable and calm, known to be very hospitable, patient and supportive amongst her friends. However, she can also be very shrewd, calculating and critical, probably making her the most cynical of the Hollingburys. She is more of a realist than an idealist; even her son is more idealist than her.

She’s also capable of making insults with a pleasant tone, simply because she finds it easier to confuse people without sounding condescending and arrogant. Most of the time of course people would have had to have pushed her patience hard to get her to do that, but if she does it’s a sign someone is going too far in her opinion.

She’s also known to be fairly argumentative and can be a bit stubborn, especially with abandoning her Muggle background. Her husband and son let her be (Mord’s response to anything she’s done is basically “Oh. Lydia.” and nothing more); in the house, she is the overseer of everything. She backs down when it comes to her family’s lives, though she can get a bit defensive if they do something she doesn’t like. Mord puts up with this, but he does gently stop her if she gets out of hand.

Lydia sometimes gets a bit too independent by doing things on her own when she needs help, and being obstinate about it unless she gets into a tight spot where she can’t get out on her own. She often claims to not follow trends, but sometimes she jumps on the bandwagon a bit when she thinks people aren’t looking. Like most Greeks, what other people think of her can become more important than what she thinks of herself, as well as being a little too forward sometimes when it comes to her passions.

Otherwise she has a sweet disposition in general. Her Patronus is a swan.

    History

Born in Brighton to Muggle parents Nikodemos Kontzoglos and Meredith Kontzoglou as Lydia Kontzoglou, her father being Greek and her mother being British. Attended nursery and preschool in Brighton. Her parents were planning to send her to a good Muggle school when the person from Hogwarts arrived on their doorstep to tell them that their daughter was magically inclined in 1963. They weren’t too pleased with this, but once they were guided to Diagon Alley and watched their daughter receive her wand they started rethinking it. Lydia of course was excited to go to a place she’d only ever dreamt about and read about in storybooks - not about Hogwarts, but books where children were whisked away to magical places where fantasy was abound and they did adventurous things.

She was Sorted to Hufflepuff House after the Hat spent two minutes musing over putting her in Ravenclaw. Lydia was at first disappointed, but over time grew to love the house and become proud of it. Of course she wondered why, but it soon became very apparent in the sense that Lydia was incredibly loyal to her friends and a hard worker. She didn’t fancy Quidditch much after she received a dislocated jaw from a Bludger in the trials, but she was a member of the Charms, Duelling and Gobstones Clubs for her whole time in Hogwarts.

For her OWLs, she managed Es in everything except DADA, Transfiguration, Astronomy , History of Magic and Care of Magical Creatures. Disappointed by her grades (which weren’t even that bad, her lowest grade was A in History of Magic), she resolved to work harder and in her NEWTs, after dropping Astronomy and History of Magic, got straight Es. She was very well-known for being especially hardworking to improve her grades.

She graduated in 1970, exactly when the First Wizarding War began. Her parents went into hiding on her advice, and she stayed very closely to the Ministry, only ever venturing out to work. The Ministry was struggling to have Floo Network Regulators in order to stop Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters, and she joined the Department of Magical Transportation with literally no experience in the field at all. She made the most of it by learning very quickly and working hard, eventually becoming better at her job. However, she did not make time to see her friends and grew fairly lonely over time.

In 1972, the Floo Network received an inquiry into a fireplace issue in London. Lydia was sent to investigate and found herself on the doorstep of the Hollingburys, meeting Mordecai.  She thought nothing of him at first apart from being a fairly nice guy, but after his first few approaches she began to warm up to him. Eventually she made the decision to stay with him, and accepted his marriage proposal. They married in 1973, before Lydia’s parents fled to Greece because of the dangers of the War. Lydia hid with the Hollingburys in order to continue working in the Ministry.

Lydia had Alethea in 1974, taking a fairly long vacation before returning to her job. She eventually had Arcturus in 1980, and helped Mordecai move to the new house in London as well as work with Mordecai’s parents to keep their children safe.

Finally the War ended in 1981 and both Lydia and Mordecai had a proper wedding ceremony. Lydia continued to work in the Floo Network as a Senior Regulator, reviewing Floo operations and keeping track of the major networks in Britain alongside her colleagues. She was fairly busy from 1982 to 1995, working and raising her family as well as visiting her parents in Greece twice a year.

In 1995, Lydia resigned. Her workload was far too much in accordance with raising her family. This turned out to be the best decision for her when the Second Wizarding War began, as she fled to Greece to stay with her parents. She was shattered when she received the news of Alethea’s death, but only had time to grieve in Greece.

She stayed in Greece until 1998, wherein she had mostly recovered from her grief and returned to England. Out of all the three Hollingburys, she is the one who has moved on.

Lydia remained as a housewife due to wanting to just relax and take care of the house and family alongside Rustle. She is currently cultivating her own garden since she has always been interested in becoming a herbologist, but only time will tell what she chooses to be later on since she doesn’t consider herself old enough to stop working yet.

    Job Duties

    She’s a housewife. Self-explanatory.

    Expertise

    Not relevant.

    Summary

Loyal, diligent, calm and always concerned about her husband and son, but can sometimes be fairly outgoing and sharp when least expected. Just wants to stay at home and enjoy a slower life.

    Myers-Briggs Personality Type: Provider (ESFJ)

Providers take it upon themselves to insure the health and welfare of those in their care, but they are also the most sociable of all the Guardians, and thus are the great nurturers of social institutions such as schools, churches, social clubs, and civic groups. Providers are very likely more than ten percent of the population, and this is fortunate for the rest of us, because friendly social service is a key to their nature. Wherever they go, Providers happily give their time and energy to make sure that the needs of others are met, and that social functions are a success.

Highly cooperative themselves, Providers are skilled in maintaining teamwork among their helpers, and are also tireless in their attention to the details of furnishing goods and services. They make excellent chairpersons in charge of dances, banquets, class reunions, charity fund-raisers, and the like. They are without peer as masters of ceremonies, able to speak publicly with ease and confidence. And they are outstanding hosts or hostesses, knowing everyone by name, and seemingly aware of what everyone's been doing. Providers love to entertain, and are always concerned about the needs of their guests, wanting to make sure that all are involved and provided for.

Friendly, outgoing, neighborly - in a word, Providers are gregarious, so much so that they can become restless when isolated from people. They love to talk with others, and will often strike up a conversation with strangers and chat pleasantly about any topic that comes to mind. Friendships matter a great deal to Providers, and their conversations with friends often touch on good times from years past. Family traditions are also sacred to them, and they carefully observe birthdays and anniversaries. In addition, Providers show a delightful fascination with news of their friends and neighbors. If we wish to know what's been going on in the local community, school, or church, they're happy to fill us in on all the details.

Providers are extremely sensitive to the feelings of others, which makes them perhaps the most sympathetic of all the types, but which also leaves them somewhat self-conscious, that is, highly sensitive to what others think of them. Loving and affectionate themselves, they need to be loved in return. In fact, Providers can be crushed by personal criticism, and are happiest when given ample appreciation both for themselves personally and for the tireless service they give to others.
