Rico

Rico woke up bright and early and went to all of his classes, like any normal day. At two o' clock after flying lessons Rico walked away from the quidditch pitch and wondered how great it would be to go into the forbidden forest, he turned his face from the dark woods.

"It's forbidden for a reason." He said to himself, gathering a few rocks to throw into the lake. He saw a few excited flippers of the mermaids that inhabited the lake. He skipped a rock and it jump 2 spaces before it sunk. A moment later, a slimy, seaweed covered hand, erupted from the water, and threw the rock back, they were in a good mood today.

If he was home at this very moment, he would be riding Cutclaws through the woods, Fagin trotting below him. His father would be sitting, reading a book by the fire, relieved his son had gave him an hour of silence. His Mother would be sewing or playing piano.

Rico threw another rock, he didn't mind spending his birthdays alone, he just wished he could be back home.

Mercedes

Mercedes woke up, refreshed, it was her birthday, her parents had yet to send their gift, probably waiting until before dinner so the two twins could open them together at the same time, 4:37. She hopped out of bed, fed Ivy, and got dressed, she pinned her family crest the other side of her robes, and slid her flats over her feet. Nothing too fancy, a sparky barrette clipped into her jet black hair with thin green stripes, she pulled it into a bun and skid her glasses over her eyes.

She went to classes, nothing too exciting, she hadn't gotten a chance to speak with her brother all day, after flying she followed him down to the lake. She wished she was home, taking time to pick out a dress she would wear when her friends and family came later that evening. But she spotted Rico, playing with the mermaids once again. She came up next to him. "Feliz Complannos, hermano"

Dessa was doing what she did every day after school--that is, wandering around outside in search of something to do. Several times she'd gotten involved in games with other students, and occasionally she'd even get the giant squid to play a sort of fetch with her. Today, however, things did not seem to be working out in her favor. There was very little to do, and the wind was whipping about in a rather unpleasant way that made it difficult to maintain the characteristic bounce in her step.

Dessa was just thinking of going back inside when she spotted two figures down by the lake. She sidled closer in hopes of discerning their identities, and her face fell when she realized that they were dressed in Slytherin colors. While Dessa herself had nothing against Slytherins--or at least tried not to--she wasn't foolish enough to believe that two unidentified snakes would want to hang out with her.

She was about to wander back up the hill, hoping to get a mug of hot cocoa and warm herself by the fire, when she heard, "Feliz Compleannos, hermano." And it dawned on her that she only knew two Spanish speaking snakes. Normally she still probably would've avoided them. Today, however, boredom was overcoming her. And although she wasn't a big fan of the female Posada, Rico was nice enough. And it was their birthday.

So, Dessa bounded down the hill and waved. "Happy Birthday, guys." she called.

Another long day of classes that Paetyn barely understood had left the poor muggleborn out of sorts. A pout was displayed fully on the young Hufflepuff's face as he struggled to his dormitory to change and put down his things. That was another issue, why the heck did he have to crawl on his hands and knees to get to and from his dorms? Navigating in his school robes while standing was difficult enough, trying to navigate in them while crawling was darn near impossible. His mood only darkened when he finally got to his room and found that his roommates had been in before him and thrown things all over the place, including his bed. With a hefty sigh, Paetyn changed from his school uniform to his comfortable muggle attire and headed back out of the room without bothering to clean up his friends' mess.

The wizarding thing was just beginning to be too much for Paetyn, and the castle was so full of magic there was no way to escape it, even for just a moment. That's why the Huffler liked the outdoors so much. If the squid wasn't acting up, and you steered clear of the Quidditch Pitch, you could envision yourself anywhere normal, without magic to hinder you, even if it was only for a few minutes. He was thinking of a nice vacation to somewhere completely non-magical as he headed out of the castle, and the thought almost made him feel a little better, almost.

It was enough, at least, to put a small smile on Paetyn's face when the sun hit him. It was chilly outside, but Paetyn didn't mind, he simply drew his jacket closer around him. He glanced around the grounds, trying to avoid any of the older kids and steering firmly away from anyone clad in green, that's when he saw the tell-tale sign of Dessa Share's bouncy head of hair. He started to scramble over to her, his grin growing stronger as he went, and that's when he noticed that she was standing with two other firsties. "Hey guys!" Paetyn called out, almost sliding down the lawns in his scurrying. "How are you guys?" He asked, skidding to a stop in front of the trio. He noticed about halfway through his running that the other two were Slytherins, but they couldn't be all bad, right? Plus, he couldn't exactly leave Dessa alone with the enemy, if they were enemies, that is.

Noah closed his eyes in a sigh as he inhaled deeply. He always loved the weather of Autumn, and while the boy would normally be off in a corner somewhere, today felt like a day to be outside. He strode from the castle with a blue and bronze scarf lightly whipping behind him and his bookbag at his side. The young Ravenclaw wasn't too sure on exactly where he was heading, but he became happier and happier with the decision to break from the castle as he moved into the chilly air.

It wasn't far into his journey, however, before he came across a group of familiar faces. He blinked lightly, having not anticipated that many would be out in the cooler climate. He stepped a bit closer, curious, waving lightly to the group as he did so. None were from his house, but the other Ravenclaw firstyears seemed to be just as big of shut ins as he was.

Wow, classes were really hard today. Jack had to wrap his mind around it all and then 2 times more just to be sure. He needed a break. He felt a need to go and climb up one of his favorite trees and watch everything happen. Since Angie scarred him last time he lit off fireworks he figures that the scenery was a better way to "relax"

Walking outside Jack became very curious about the mood. Everything was going so fast! He felt like he was in a fast movie and he was in slow mo.

Beginning to descend upon the lake, Jack began to drop his head and wander off in his thoughts. He didn't even notice the group of people that were gathering until he bumped into one. "Oh I'm so sorry...Paetyn! what are you doing out here?" Jack noticed that everyone here were all first years. "Is there something special going on?"
