Re: [October 18] A Ritual in Ridiculousness [[Open]] Reply #15 on August 03, 2012, 12:31:57 AM Eli looked with understanding at Raine, but rolled his eyes at the naivety of Kingside’s suggestion. “Don’t you listen to Storm? It’s physically impossible for the undead to sire even one child, much less twins. The entire world thinks my family is completely nutters and you think that Reid would be able to help me? Very slim chance of that, mate.” Eli said with conviction. People really didn’t understand what it was like to be part of the Grimlish family, to have the reputation of his family precede him wherever he went. “Beyond that,” He began, his voice rising at the injustice of his life, “I haven’t spoken to my sister since term started, my TWIN sister. She wants a ‘normal’ life. Bah!” Eli pushed his hands through his already messy hair and sat on the ground, utterly defeated. They could sympathize with him all they wanted, and they may know what he was going through on some level, but they had NO CLUE what was going on in his head, the way the gears and cogs worked. He was, after all, a Grimlish… and they weren’t known for being the most rational of thinkers. He had a head for Quidditch (quick and thick) but she didn't trust the Chaser with much else. Even so... it was his way of being nice, Raine supposed. Eli did not take it well. At the mention of his sister, it was only too easy to remember her own, and the prefect flinched unintentionally. There were times she didn't heed any of her classmate's oddities because he knew what it was like to be close to someone the way she had been with Sanya. Raine dropped down to one knee, reaching over like she was about to tousle his hair. And then she cuffed him on the temple."Get off your moaning Grimlish," she tried to meet him in the eye. "You're nutters, congratulations. Better strange than a weakling. Nobody gets to be normal, not in this world and certainly not in this school." Perhaps Evie would understand that in time.Having recently sat through a Charms lesson recounting the rather disturbing memories of sixth and seventh years, it was becoming glaringly obvious to her that Hogwarts was secretly an institute for the socially perturbed. Raine got back to her feet, a hand on her hip and a dry smile pulling at her lips."I'd do a better job of this summoning if I were you," the entire ritual struck her as somewhat more elaborate than an actual invite. "You're not on the brink of death, to my knowledge. You have time to do this well and to do it someplace else. Think for Merlin's sake..." she shrugged: "Who knows how your father would react." Do yerself a favor, pick a better place, pick a better ritual. Per'aps one 'at works, 'eh? Just a thought, no need t'eye me all testy like."With a frown, the young Chaser glanced back at the fairly back-to-normal pitch, and then turned his gaze upon Raine. "Any other directives, then, Mein Fräulein? Or 'm a' free t'go?"A night's Quidditch practice was clearly lost; however, there might still be time to tackle some of the mounted piles of homework Kingside had been forced to neglect in favor of his far superior Quidditch duties - or, even better, if he hurried, he might be able to get in a bit of charm with an attractive young lady. If there were any still out and about in the common room, at least. He certainly didn't enjoy being hit in the head by the prefect. He was pretty sure that somewhere in the prefect rulebook it said that you weren't supposed to physically assault your fellow students. He certainly wasn’t going to mention that to Raine at the moment though. Maybe he’d just ask Sasha about it later. His anger just continued to grow. He was angry that his intruders were so… infuriating, he was upset that his ritual didn’t work, and he was pissed off because nothing seemed to be going like it was supposed to. He thought momentarily about hexing the lion cubs, but thought better of it and instead just said “Whatever,” and shoved his hands deep in his pockets. He turned on his heel and stormed off, bumping into Kingside’s shoulder as he went. He didn’t have to deal with their bull; he would just do what Almasy suggested and work harder. Skip to next post
