[Oct 18] Still Can't Believe It [Open]

Dear Daniella,

How are you doing? How are you adjusting to Hogwarts? Did you make any new friends? I have recently been thinking about you a lot and miss you tons. I can't wait to see you for Christmas. You are coming?

Lots of Love,
Dad

Daniella's stomach was still queasy from emptying the contents of her stomach the day before, so the message only upsetted her stomach more. Come home! She hadn't even thought about it. She still felt new to the school so she hadn't even had time to decided if she wanted to go home to the family. Well, to the person. Her mom had left her dad and her sister was off on a year-long holiday to Loas or somewhere near the area with a bunch of her annoying friends. Her father was great, don't get her wrong, but going home would only put a lot of unneeded stress onto her already full plate. What with lessons and all, she had to work extra hard, especially since her dad expected her to get good grades. Lucky for her, Dani felt pretty confident with her work.

Folding up the note and stuffing it under her pillow, Daniella stood up from her dorm and headed towards the common room. People were already situated there, some studying, some reading and some chatting. Dani felt so out of place. She didn't have one friend. Well, except for Alexandra, but she was in Gryffindor.

Sighing, Daniella walked towards a vacant seat and sat down. As soon as her rear end made contact with the cushion to instantly rebounded and hopped up. A piercing pain ce from the area but she didn't feel any break of the skin (or clothes).

"Ow!" she exclaimed rubbing her backside and feeling foolish.

Up in the Ravenclaw Common Room, Addison was trying her best to practice her Transfiguration. That Professor Sandusky surely seemed off his rocker. While she didn't exactly like his teaching methods, she still tried during class. Considering the fact that Transfiguration was harder for her to learn and adapt, the fact that Sandusky was a nutcase certainly didn't help her problems. So, she wanted to spend some time in the Common Room to practice her Transfiguration work. Even though practicing this year's work probably made more sense, she had ultimately decided to practice a spell from last year. Perhaps getting something right would increase her confidence in the class, no matter how slight.

The transfiguration that she was trying out was the turning a seat cushion into a porcupine. The best that she could do was make the seat cushion hard and prickly someone. Clearly, it was far from an actual porcupine. So, she still had more work to do. Despite all of her difficulties, she managed to eventually transfigure the seat cushion into the porcupine last year. This meant that she apparently had to try very hard to complete the transfiguration.

With a sigh, Addison looked away from the cushion to her notes on the subject. Sure, the cushion was a little different, and the class had transfigured the cushion into a hedgehog, but it shouldn't be too different. While studying her notes frantically, she didn't pay attention as a first year sat down on her transfiguration subject. Turning back to the cushion, she saw the first year bolt up from the chair. Indeed, she had managed to make something believable out of it. Perhaps practicing a spell with the cushion on a chair wasn't exactly the best idea that she came up with. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I hope you're not hurt!" she exclaimed.
