Sam hadn't, as it happened, needed the warning, since 40 years experience as an Auror meant he had recognized the same signs as his partner. He threw himself to the floor, narrowly missing the effect of Haggard's sacrifice failing. "You OK Callen?" Sam called as he got up. He heard Callen rather unconventionally telling Baddrick she was under arrest. He made a note to make sure Baddrick had her rights read to her properly before she was questioned. He was just glad the arrest was just about over. Looking for Baddrick, he noticed Callen hadn't found Baddrick yet, so he took out his handcuffs and put them on Baddrick when he found her. He also took her wand, though he couldn't snap it.

Baddrick was perfectly alive, but perfectly out of it.  After all the Aururs had behaved and used only the legal subjugation and restsraint spells recommended for such an encounter.  They'd played it clean and that was the only reason she was still alive.  The witch was mumbling but only half conscious and barely able to move.  She moved her arms limply, her eyes unfocused and unseeing, from where she lay on the floor in the middle of a spell crater.

Her lips moved and twisted, but nothing came out that made any sense.

She had been bested.
