[Oct 15] Visions and Crepes [Jazz] on May 18, 2012, 05:30:22 PM October 15A little after 3:00 PMShe generally liked to check up on students who had visited her, and hell, she liked to visit students that never even entered her office. Maiko noticed that it had been awhile since she had checked up on one of her fellow seers, Jazelle Hawke. If she remembered correctly, Jazz was usually available after three on Thursdays. Maiko had been around long enough at this point to know that Jazz usually spent her free time down by the lake. With a box of fruity crepes under her arm, the counselor made her way outside and towards the lake.It didn’t take long for Maiko the spot the blond. “Bonjour!” She exclaimed, standing up on her tip toes in excitement. “Do you mind if I sit down? I made you some crepes.” This was very typical of Maiko—she loved to cook things, and feed people the things she cooked. It had been a little while since Maiko had seen Jazelle, and she felt like she owed the girl a visit. The night before was spent putting the finishing touches of her gifts in order to send them this morning. How Jazz wished she could be there with her symbolic sister in person, embarrassing her face to face by bombarding a plethora of balloons and confetti at every turn. Oh, well. Hopefully the handmade confetti cannon trap placed strategically in her present-filled package will suffice. Now that Jazz thought about it, she realizes she might harbor an unhealthy obsession with confetti.Jazelle had just finished with Care of Magical Creatures, one of her favorite classes, and was vegging out by the lake in her usual spot. This was the place where she threw Elijah a surprise birthday picnic, and a usual place for them to hang out at. Though her and Elijah had Creatures together, however, she was alone for the time-being. It made her a little sad to be without the company, but Jazz secretly yearned for some alone-time.“Bonjour!” a friendly voice exclaimed, startling her. Looking up, she was surprised to see Maiko on her tip-toes with an excited expression. “Do you mind if I sit down? I made you some crepes.” she asked, and just now Jazz noticed the box under her arm. The polite thing to do would be to allow her company; after all, she did bring crepes."Sure, take a seat," Jazz motioned casually, scooting a bit to offer some room against one of the trees. She hadn't seen her mentor in weeks; not since she first came to the fellow seer with advice about her distressing vision. Since then she had taken the French Witch's advice and attempted to use a calming drought in order to further her insight of the stranger. Though it worked a little, she still didn't get enough insight to spur another visit. "That's very kind of you, thank you. I don't believe I've ever had crepes," Jazz commented lightly, face warming in flattery and embarrassment. "I'm sorry I haven't visited in a while." The love child of pancakes and tortillas.” She thought hat was a bad description, but she couldn’t think of any other way to put it. “They can be savory, with chicken and garlic. You will often see them with a sweet filling, like bananas and chocolate.” Oh, Maiko adored chocolate in her crepes, with most reasonable fruits. “These ones ‘ave sweet and fruity fillings.” And of course, there was often whipped cream with the sweet crepes. Mai leaned against the tree and set the box in front of Jazz.Mai had never been one to be indirect. “I ‘avent seen you in awhile. Are you doing alright?” Mai inquired, giving Jazelle a look of concern. The vision was important, yes-- but she felt like they'd get around to talking about it eventually. Right now she wanted to know about Jazz’s well being, and how she was handling the stress in her life, if she had any. Being a seer brought with it a whole mess of problems that were often very misunderstood, and often criticized by those who felt like seers were frauds. Many people did not understand that even the most experienced seers were plagued with visions and prophecies that they didn’t understand, or that they were uncomfortable with. Dear God, these will be the death of me. "Thank you, so much! Gah, I love fruity things!" she exclaimed, practically salivating already from looking at them. "And whipped cream!" About to ask what brought this on, she got her answer. "Yeah, I'm doing alright," Jazz answered automatically with a casual smile. It was the sort of response she didn't have to consciously think about, even when she didn't mean it. Which was now; but she didn't want Maiko to know that. Not now, anyway.Trying to get comfortable after scooting over, Jazz brought her knees up as a support for the box, but the sudden movement made her awkwardly aware that she was still wearing a skirt. Also, it was quite chilly. Quickly reaching into her bag she pulled out a plush blanket and draped it over her legs. She liked being prepared and since the season was getting far colder by the day she carried something warm around just in case. She set the box of crepes in her elevated lap and felt the blanket now warming her up."I tried the calming drought. It definitely helped. In fact, I saw so much of his face that I practically maxed out my sketchbook and charcoal." Jazz fumbled through her bag with one hand, fingers searching for the familiar spiral edge. Sticking her tongue out at the side, she finally managed to pull out her sketchbook, now handing it to Maiko with a crooked smile. "Take a look if you want.[1]" she offered, having no problem with showing it to her, since the whole thing was filled with the stranger and nothing else. Usually she detested showing her art to anyone, but she wanted to this time because it was purely for educational purposes. 1. Strewn about the pages of this sketchbook is the face of the man in the vision at multiple angles, with different expressions, and even shots of his whole body and what he wore. The background is that of a narrow alley with dim lighting. They are incredibly detailed. This is the man! She had made some mistakes in bringing previous students food. Once, her chocolate-covered blueberries had caused a certain Casey O’Doherty to have an allergic reaction. It was harmless, but it did turn him a rather chilly shade of blue. And then there was Sasha Schlagenweit, who was a vegetarian. That had been simple enough, since her own brother was a pescetarian, and she was used to seeking dishes that lacked meat. “You don’t ‘ave any allergies I should be aware of, do you?” The counselor inquired.Mai made herself comfortable and raised her eyebrows slightly. People had such practiced reactions to some simple questions such as, ‘how are you?” or, “What have you been doing today.” She always wondered if people felt the way they habitually reacted to those questions, no matter who it was. She figured she’d find out Jazz’s general mood the longer the two were immersed in discussion. She listened and nodded when Jazelle told her the potion worked. Good, it was good to know that it helped. Maiko wondered if there was anything else she could possibly use that would aid Jazz as far as her visions went. She accepted the sketchbook quietly and looked at the art—her first impression was that the student was a very talented artist, though, like all artists, there was always room for improvement. That went with any kind of art, whether it was dance, music, or painting. In some ways, art was always perfect, and in some ways, it was always flawed. That, Mai felt, was part of the beauty of it. “This is the man?” She furrowed her eyebrows. “I don’t recognize ‘im. I could ask around. I can send an owl to somebody, and ask about it for you, if you are comfortable. He's young, a student maybe? Or perhaps a recent graduate.” Maiko thought that maybe she should owl a couple healers that she had worked with. They were always swamped, but it couldn’t hurt to ask around. Well, yes it could—but if there was a chance that this person was in danger, it may put Jazelle’s mind at ease if she at least knew that something was being done about it. Perhaps a few of the professors from the other schools would recognize him, since he was so young. He could have graduated recently, within the past few years. Goodness, she was tired all of a sudden. She hoped she'd be up for another night of patrols. An involuntary groan escaped her throat at remembering; head banging against the bark of the tree."Well, I've just been doing this, pretty much," she explained, lazily gesturing around her. "Trying to get a moment's peace before running back into the fray." Sighing, she glanced at Maiko sideways, who was indicating to the picture."You can send it to whoever. Just keep my name anonymous, if you will," Jazz granted, knowing the counselor would do just that. She understand her wariness when it came to 'outing' a fellow seer. "Cute, though, isn't he?" a crooked smile graced her features."Do you mind if I have one now?" she asked, opening the box of crepes and picking up one of the treats carefully. Yum. She wondered if she should send a copy to the auror office-- if the person in Jazelle’s visions was a criminal, perhaps they would be aware. Also, if someone was a victim of some sort of attack, aurors were among the first to arrive at the scene. “If you don’t mind,” She said softly, “I’ll be sending a copy to an acquaintance at St. Mungos as well as the auror office.” Flynn Hughes was a brand new fully-realized healer towards the end of her training, and they were on the same floor. She was sure that he’d try his best to ask around, though if Jazelle was still having visions, it was unlikely that anyone had been injured just yet.Maiko tilted her head to the side curiously. “Some sprays make your ‘eart ‘urt?” She raised an eyebrow inquisitively, “I wasn’t aware that you ‘ad some ‘eart problems.” Perhaps it was an allergy, but something that hurt the heart was quite serious. It really wasn't anything to be concerned about. If she stayed clear of the smell everything was fine."Thank you for coming down," she said, taking her first bite of the crepes. Oh, wow, she thought in delight. This really was delicious. And with the perfect amount of strawberry, too."And for... everything, really.
