Claudia nodded slightly at the statement that there would really be nothing for him in the Muggle world.  She didn’t think there had been much their to begin with outside of his family.  After all, one couldn’t list a school like Hogwarts on their resume for a Muggle job.  The moment a witch or wizard entered school there were very few opportunities left for them in the Muggle world.

"Do you think that they'd still allow me to apply for the position?"

“There is always a need for new Aurors,” she said told him.  “Once the madness of Remembering Day has passed I’ll talk to a few of my contacts…”  Seeing him pull out his wallet she smirked slightly as she added, “And, when you get the position, which you will, I insist you let me take you out to celebrate with drinks at the Leaky Cauldron.”

He smiled.

"If it's not too much trouble," he said before adding, "and I'd like that."

It wasnt' very often when he got to see Claudia, but when he was able to, he enjoyed their time together.  They'd tell each other stories, relish in one another's company, and, the last time they'd gotten together, they were able to enjoy a calm, soothing stroll through the park.  It was one of the most enjoyable times that he'd had in a while.  He was very glad that she was free today to meet and have coffee with him.

"This is nice," he said, referring to their time together.  "It's not every day I get to see you.  Perhaps, if I do decide to go out for the job, we'd be able to see each other more often?'"

She gave him a small smile, knowing that would indeed be the case.  It had been difficult at times to arrange times to see each other.  Her schedule was quickly filled with Ministry duties…When a time like the present moment presented itself she always tried to find someway to make sure they could meet up.

“Of course,” she said.  “And I am looking foreword to that.”

Part of her worried how that might change things.  They had been friends for so long, and she always enjoyed every moment of their visits.  She was always open with him, there were really no secrets between them, bit it still had her a bit concerned.  When something was going well change tended to scare her a bit.

“You know, I hear there’s a big party in Hogsmeade at the Signature on the 5th,” she said.  “After midnight I hear they’re planning to clear the kids out and make it an adult party.  Any chance you’re attending?”

He nodded.

"I am, actually," he said.  "Another friend of mine invited me to it."

He grinned.

"Are you going, as well?"

He wondered what would be going on at the Signature after the kids were made to leave.  The adults would most likely be drinking.  He enjoyed an occasional glass of wine, but he was by no means a heavy drinker.  Since he had no other means of transportation, he'd have to fly back to his apartment via his Oakshaft 79.

“I have a dress all picked out,” she said with a smirk.  “Perhaps well see each other there…although you never knew what might happen at a masquerade.”

She knew it sounded like fun, but it could also just be a lot of drunken fools in masks trying to trick people into believing they were someone else.  If nothing else it would certainly be an interesting evening, and a chance to unwind after all the madness of Remembering Day.  She would need a drink before the holiday was over.

Looking at her watch, she sighed slightly and said, “I should probably be on my way.  The Minister will be back from lunch soon and there’s quite a bit of work to be done.”

"Perhaps we will," he agreed with her.  He found it amusing that they'd be seeing each other again, and so soon.  They were able to see each other every once in a while, but this would be the first time in a great while when they would be getting together again so soon.

“I should probably be on my way.  The Minister will be back from lunch soon and there’s quite a bit of work to be done.”

"I probably should, as well.  Shift starts up in about an hour, and I want to get ready for it."

Granted, he really didn't need to freshen up anymore than he already had.  However, it couldn't hurt to get a head start.  He usually worked with three or four other people, but today, it'd be him and two others.  He imagined that his boss, Clark, would call in the others if they were in a rush to get things done.

He pushed his chair out, stood up, stretched, and pulled a couple of notes.  Their waiter had come by earlier to put their bill on the table, so he opened the leather casing and stuck ten pounds into the main pocket.  He wouldn't be tipping their waiter; he was lucky that he was even paying for their drinks at all.

"That was a nice treat," he said, then offered to pull Claudia's chair out for her.

"And an even nicer visit."

Claudia stood as he pulled out the chair for her.  He was always the gentleman, one of the many things she liked about Cadeous.  She pulled her sunglasses off of her collar as she stood, ready to wear them again during her trip back to the Ministry building.  She was sure there would be quite a few things to do before she had to go home to change for the evening’s events.

“Thank you for the coffee, il mio amico,” she said, turning to him.  “I’ll be in touch once the fiasco of the next few days is over.”

As she leaned over to give him a quick peck on the cheek, as was her usual way of saying farewell, a thought popped into her head.  Perhaps there would be a way after the Remember Day confusion had passes to prove to Cadeous that he was cut out to be an Auror.  If the right person saw him in action and gave their approval it would certainly help her friend feel better about the situation.

It would certainly take some planning…perhaps coordinating it with one of Marcus’ lunch trips with his mediwitch might be the ticket.  She knew she could think more tough in a few days and she smiled slightly as she pulled away from him again.
