Wand: 12 1/2 inch blackthorn with dragon heartstring; inflexible. Perfectly straight with ridges where you'd place your hand and a single oval shaped blue goldstone about the size of a thumbnail adorns the base.

Physical Description: Gen stands at only 5'4" but carries herself as if she were much taller. Slim but neither lanky or boney. Her long dark brown hair hangs in loose curls . Hazel green eyes.

Personality Description: Smooth and cold; Genevieve stands with an aloof sense of dignity. You'd figure from meeting her that she thought herself to be better then those around her. Well, sometimes... yes she did. Usually though it's more of a mask. In remaining distant she comes off as mysterious and alluring; she can work her looks to her advantage. But truly she's really afraid of emotional entanglements and fears failure and looking as weak as she feels. She's witty and fun once she lets you become a friend.

History: Genevieve was born lower middle class in London's East End. She doesn't like talking about her family or the little she remembers of them. Her father was a drunk and an abusive man and her mother was weak. This frail little thing always getting pushed around. Genevieve was 6 when the state took her away from home. She promised herself she wasn't going to become a wasted little waif of a human being and end up like her mother.

After a few years in foster care she finally received her Hogwarts letter. It was truly a godsend; or so her foster granny, Mrs. Drake had said. Genevieve doesn't believe in such things. Although she does agree it was quite fortunate. It's not to say she wasn't well looked after at Mrs. Drake's or anything like that. She was a plump and cheery older woman and had a large old victorian style home with 5 extra rooms for the kids. She never had any of her own and after her husband's passing she found her calling. She always reminded Gen of a perfect Mrs. Claus.

Genevieve learned about Slytherin's pure-blooded past not too long after being sorted into the house herself. She was assured that all that was behind them now in this "post war" era but Genevieve could feel eyes judging her at all times. She knew she was going to have to be twice as intimidating as those who intimidated her if she wanted to get ahead. After a smart mouth pointed out her "mudblood" status in the common room her second year she lashed out. She grabbed him by the tie, pinned him against the fall and pointed her wand at his jugular. Obviously taken aback the boy stood with arms up as if under arrest. "Don't you dare underestimate me again or it will be the last time you do so." she said in the most intimidating voice she could muster. No one ever thought to bother her after that and after she hit 3rd year and everyone suddenly noticed "how much she'd grown" it became easier for them to overlook her blood status.

She doesn't get along well with some of the other girls in her house and most boys who do speak to her seem to be interested in one thing only so she doesn't have many genuine friends save for one. A Ravenclaw in her year by the name of Roslyn Avery. Unlike other girls Avery never feels the need to compete with Gen like the other girls tended to do. She was a calm voice of reason for Genevieve who never judged; or did her best not to. Besides, Gen got a real kick out of pushing the sweet little Roslyn to "the dark side". She convinced Roslyn to brew a love poition for a crush 4th year which got her into loads of trouble and they've been friends ever since.

Writing Sample:
Genevieve sits in the library with her legs propped up on the roll top cherry wood desk as she reads a book meant for the restricted section.

"Hey" whispers Roslyn Avery standing by Gen's feet clutching her textbooks to her chest. "What are you into this time?"

Gen lowers the book and raises a mischievous eye brow at her one and only true confidant. "Nothing" she turns the book over in an attempt to hide it's cover but it's been seen.

"Now that's some…!"Roslyn sits beside her and scoots the chair over towards Genevieve and lowers her voice. "That's some dark stuff, Genny"

"I'm merely reading" she opens up to a page on the imperious curse. "I mean if done correctly it's quite useful."

Rosie flashes her a slightly agitated look.

"Hey, It's just theory. I'm not using it on you or anything……Or am I? I could be using it right now and you wouldn't even know." Genevieve smiles and winks flirtatiously at her friend.

"Yeah, well if it's strictly theoretical.." Roslyn stands up with her textbooks still clutched to her chest.

"Of course, darling" Gen smiles "But don't pretend you're not interested. I mean, if it were doable you would…maybe."

Roslyn scoffs "Out of the question" she begins to turn her back on her friend to walk away but gets stopped in her tracks.

"Like brewing a love potion for johnny what's-his-name third year was any different." Genevieve stretched her arms and let them rest behind her head as she reclined on the red upholster arm chair. She didn't have to look behind her to know Roslyn had turned back around.

Genevieve continued "I mean theoretically speaking they both do what? They both alter a person's free will. Am I right or am I right?"

"I'll not be badgered by you a moment longer. Why do I even talk to you?" Rosie begins to leave again but Genevieve quickly gets up from her chair and takes Roslyn by the hand.

"You know I love you, right Rosie?" Gen kisses Roslyn's hand.

"Yeah yeah .." Roslyn takes her hand back from Genevieve's grasp and signals at Genevieve to shoo.

"You talk with me because deep down you're just as fascinated by all this dark stuff same as me but you're too scared to go down the dark path alone" Genevieve extends her arm around Roslyn's shoulder as they walk out of the library together. "But don't you worry, Rosie darling, I'm here for you. You can always lean on me for immoral support. Remember that" she playfully rustles Roslyn's hair with her extended hand. They both chuckle as they walk out into the corridor

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Basically Genevieve Edris is a strong, independent young woman with a bit of a curiosity for the dark side. She's sometimes hard to get to know because she isn't very trusting of anyone but if you earn her trust she'll have your back.
