Physical Description: Cassie is of mixed ethnicity noticed in the tone of her coloured skin. Most people see her mother’s appearance in her, but watching the way she smiles or the facial expressions she makes the scream her father. She got her mother’s dark brown eyes and full slips. She got the shape of her mother’s face and she definitely got her mother’s hair. Cassie has dark brown hair, to the point it is actually mistaken for black. Untreated by magic her hair a frizzy mess of curls. If she works her magic she gets spiral curls rather than a frizz ball or she can straighten it but you definitely notice just how thick her hair is. Her hair is long and falls to the middle of her back. Sometimes she pins it back and confines it in a braid, other times she will just lets it go free. She really is quite beautiful.

Cassie is about 5’4 and slender. Her body is toned and shaped by the dances classes she attempts to take part in during the summer and attempts to upkeep during the school year so she doesn’t lose any of the skill. Her clothing choice is one that reflects her personality very well, sweet and innocent. She has a unique sweet sense of style. Though some might call it a bit formal. Cassie has always been partial to the school uniform of Hogwarts, but then she does love skirts and cardigans.

Personality Description: First impressions are Cassie’s speciality, probably because she is personable and friendly. She is a bit of a try hard on first impressions though because she is eager to please and be accepted. Though everyone just sees the perky sweet Cassie who has her hand out to shake and curiously asking things about you to get to know you. She genuinely seems interested and isn’t talking for the sake of hearing her own voice, or story. Cassie is eager to keep the conversation flowing, with the means of hopefully adding a new friend to her list by the end of it or at least the potential for one. Cassie seems rather selfless on first impressions, since she seems to interested in you and interested in you. Of course she adds to the conversation, as she does love conversation even if it is filled with small talk. Though, her desire to add you to the list of potential friends or friends is not entirely selfless. Cassie is just looking to be social, and have people around her to connect with. All she wants is to be included and not ignored. And no, Cassie is not starved for attention at home or in the family, it is through the family she feels the need to be supported with people around her. Upon further inspection into what makes Cassie tick you would see she is a bit clingy.

Ditzy could be used to describe Cassie, but it probably is not the right word exactly. People sort of assume Cassie is ditzy or a little dumb, but she isn’t. No, Cassie has a tendency to daydream. Oh man it definitely is a little bit problematic because it makes her appear dim and she hates it. Not saying Cassie is the brightest of bright, but she isn’t an idiot. Cassie sort of loses herself in her thoughts, tuning out the people around her. Best way to draw her back to the present is tapping her on the shoulder, but sadly she has probably tuned you and the entire conversation out. Most prone to accomplishing this in class, while studying, or lost in big group conversations. Yes, Cassie is dynamic and a conversationalist, but she has never exactly found great success in big group conversations and functions. With the tendency to let people talk over her, and not boisterous enough to barge in. Cassie flourishes best in smaller groups or one-on-one.

A quick step back to the comments of her being dumb and ditzy. People tend to make this assumption about her due to her daydreaming tendencies. To assume such a fact that she is an idiot would be wrong, she is just slower with the processing of information and getting to the end result. Academically she is slower to learn, but she puts the effort in to understand. In addition to her being slow academically she is not as worldly as other people, meaning she is a little naive. She is not one to get innuendo, or things similar. Mainly Cassie has had sort of a sheltered life experience when it comes to personal interaction. But it is something she picks up and learns over time. Cassie trusts people and believes in their good nature.

It is subtle but Cassie lives with mild Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and if she were muggle and tested by the doctors she would probably land herself in the mild range on the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale at about an 8-10. Her compulsions are to do with order and structure, but it is subtle and you might miss it if you weren’t looking for it. She brushes her hair a certain number of times, and she pulls the same number of sheets of parchments from her bag everytime (five). She unpacks and repacks her bag in a specific order for classes, and always carries the same number of quills, ink pots, and pieces of parchment. She always carries a fiction book in her bag, despite whether she has the time to read it or not. Cassie doesn’t notice she does it, and probably would panic if someone pointed it out. Cassie strives to be normal and accepted, after all that is all she wants she just wants to be liked. A higher level of OCD appears when placed under stress or nervous. When she is nervous and stressed she will obsessive clean and organize.

Clingy could describe Cassie, and it also something she doesn’t particularly notice. She clings to the people who accept her, or are nice to her. It makes the devastation of betrayal that much worse. Cassie finds emotional attachment on some level to her friends and her family, and she clings to it. Sometimes she even takes negative attention, but this is rare, most of the time she doesn’t tolerate people being mean to her. Though she doesn’t lash out and get angry, she has more of a passive aggressive anger. She will do the quiet glaring and brooding, and she might write nasty things down in her journal but never outwardly say something to that someone. Of course she will probably talk to her friends or family to vent her frustrations. You know when Cassie has hit her absolute limit of tolerance, because she will get outwardly mad and might lash out on a person, but this is an extreme. A temper is not something everyone sees, but really is it is yelling in her sweet voice and flailing hand gestures. She doesn’t swear, maybe the closest you will get is sod off. Cassie is more identified with teary anger, because she is more likely to cry as she starts yelling. Cassie tends to go in the direction of tears more so than flaring temper.

Cassie is a soft emotional soul. This is probably what makes her naturally artsy. Cassie dances, after begging her parents into allowing her to start classes. But it was definitely something difficult to upkeep once she was at Hogwarts. Though she did find joy in singing and choir, she just feels like she can connect with pieces of music no matter what the form. Cassie knows she inherited the artsy side from her father’s side of the family.

History: Donavan and Suzanne met during school, they were from separate years and houses. Donavan was two years older and from Gryffindor, while Suzanne was from Hufflepuff. Donavan knew Suzanne through Linus Perks her older brother and his best friend. She was always his little sister, and nothing more. Donavan felt the need to look out for Suzanne around Hogwarts when Linus wasn’t around. It was just after Suzanne’s graduation from Hogwarts that Donavan stepped into more than just big brother’s friend role. Linus and Donavan had been renting a flat together in London, and Suzanne having just been dumped by a long time boyfriend needed a shoulder to cry on. Linus and Suzanne had be very close, so he was the obvious choice only she found Donavan home and not Linus. Well, she ended up pouring out her heart to Donavan, it was just so easy. Just like Linus he had been sort of a constant figure in her life. Suzanne started hanging around with Donavan and her brother more, and she started cleaning their flat for them. Mainly because she was such a neat freak. She was working on becoming a healer and it was easier after late nights to crash on her brother’s couch rather than head home (as she still lived with her parents). It was over these few months of her hanging around more that Donavan realized what was staring him right in the face. He eventually asked her out and basically the rest is history.

Donavan and Suzanne found a nice small place in London, they had married and were very happy together. Suzanne was still working as a healer-in-training and her father was working for a music magazine as a journalist. Reporting on the great Wrock stars of the time, which happened to include his brother. Donavan and Suzanne always had the intention of starting a family, but they were in no rush. They had plenty of family to keep them busy, after all Donavan was the third youngest of six, so he was sort of a middle child but had always been closest with his younger brothers. Family was important to the Flickwicks, and then on top of that there were the Perks side of the family they were also close with. It wasn’t like they needed to start having their own kids. Though when Donavan and Suzanne found out they were expecting they were happy, even if she was a ‘surprise’. They didn’t see the point in planning. Donavan talked Suzanne into moving into a larger home, which wouldn’t be far from where his brother Duncan lived. Funny that the women in Duncan, Finnegan and Donavan’s lives would be pregnant all around the same time. Suzanne was the last to give birth in mid-August. They brought Cassie Minerva Flickwick into the world.

Cassie’s childhood was very family oriented. Her weekdays were spent with the extended family or her father, as her father usually worked from home on his articles. Her evenings she fondly remembers dinners with her parents and bedtime stories from her mother. Cassie enjoyed the schedule of her childhood, it was predictable and safe. Her mother was very organized, but rather expectant of a healer working to be Healer-in-Charge eventually. Cassie’s weekends were a mix of attempting to help with household chores, or seeing the extended family. Cassie spent a lot of time with family, be it immediate or extended. She thrived in the environment, but she never had a large amount of time alone which might be the source of her dependency on other people. She never really learnt the need to entertain herself when alone, as she rarely was alone. When she was four her parents had a second surprise child. They had never actively planned to have kids at a certain time just happy to have them when nature deemed them ready, and of course after they figured they could juggle an infant and Cassie. After Carver Flickwick entered the world they decided their family was complete and went about magical means to keep it that way.

The scariest hurdle of change for Cassie to face was heading off to Hogwarts, she had never been away from home longer than an evening sleepover at one of her cousins or a friends house. Her parents tried to reassure her that once she was at Hogwarts she would be too busy with friends, a social life, and school to be homesick though she doubted this. Lucky for her she wasn’t alone in heading off to Hogwarts, she would have her cousins Sophie and Peony Flickwick to help her along the way. Cassie the first of the cousins to be sorted was put into the Hufflepuff while the other two followed into Gryffindor. What was she going to do without them? Her parents were right to an extent though, she was too busy to be homesick except at night. She spent the first few weeks at school crying herself to sleep because it wasn’t home. Luckily her growing circle of friends, her cousins, her dormmates, and of course classes kept her busy.

Cassie has since grown to flourish in the school environment and has left the tears of homesickness behind. Sure she misses home, but the emotion is not nearly as crippling. She has become actively involved in the school, attempting to join clubs when she could. She cares about her studies and does her best to get good grades, though she is decidedly average academically. Cassie is probably most known for saying hello in the corridors and being generally friendly. She also joined SAWS, after all she had to support her former dormmate Olivia Foley, whom she had always been fond of. Admittedly she was not surprised when Sophie and Olivia had become so close. Though Cassie also found the death of Aunt Ramona to be a shocking blow of reality, she never liked watching a happy family crumble apart. Cassie vowed to be a helping guiding force, or as much of one as she could. Cassie was never particularly strong in areas of sadness but really just wanted to be there for her cousin and treat her just like normal (or that was the main goal).

Despite the family troubles that came with her fifth year she still managed to successfully complete her OWLs with decent grades. Though it all felt sort of fake and unnecessary with the fact things like death had slipped into the world. To some degree it has made her cling to people socially even more, if it is possible. Cassie has started her sixth year and has no idea what is in store for her, but she is ready to make the best of her final NEWT years of school.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Cassie is a true friend. She does not hold the thirst for knowledge that makes her worthy of Ravenclaw, and she doesn’t have the bravery and courage of Gryffindor. Slytherin was never the home for her, as she was much too naive. Though the sorting hat saw the kind and just nature of Cassie, willing to trust people and give them the benefit of the doubt. The hat knew she was best suited for Hufflepuff.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Cassie is a sweet witch looking for acceptance in the world and really just wanting to be liked. She thrives best in a supporting environment as seen by the fact the Flickwicks are such a large and intertwined family. She has her quirks and might seem a bit dumb, but she is far more than that. She is really on a journey of growing up and finding her particular place in the world.
