CHALLENGE: Oops! on April 23, 2012, 09:43:42 PM Oops!Accidents happen - why fight it?Dlee / Deus Deres asks...So last night I re-read the first HP book (and it was as amazing as it was every other time I had read it! 'Magic' is indeed an apt adjective) and I was struck by how often accidents happen. People set things on fire, Neville gets jelly-legs cursed and has to hop all the way up to the commonroom, a cauldron melts, etc. And sometimes those things happen in our threads, and they're marvelous fun, but why not make it a challenge?Get stuck in the crossway of an impromptu duel between Ministry Departments and have to go to your coffee break under the influence of tickling jinx, or practice your homework and accidentally burn off someone's eyebrows. Ingest what you thought was a wit-sharpening potion only to discover it's actually a love potion, what have you!We all make mistakes, and sometimes they're just darn fun.We at Absit Omen agree! Make a mistake, have an accident, foul up - then post here! This is an Absit Omen role-playing challenge! From time to time, we'll call upon you movers and shakers to direct your substantial imaginations towards some type of in-character challenge. Take the prompting and incorporate it into plots or threads new or old. Then, when you've accomplished this lofty task, respond to this thread with the fruits of your labors! A link, a quote, and a few words on how it went. Naturally optional, no prizes - just grit and glory! Skip to next post Re: CHALLENGE: Oops! Reply #1 on April 27, 2012, 07:53:59 PM I did this, and really enjoyed it!! I had Alice just trip over her shoelace, and fall, embarrassing herself. Here's just a quick bit of it!She walked hurriedly, trying to keep up with the group. Her shoes were giving her trouble, as they were becoming untied. She couldn't bend down and tie them, for if she did, she would be left behind by the class, something she really didn't want to happen. She never acted in a good way when she was lost. At one point she walked a little faster, and was about to tap Ted on the shoulder. She was going to try to start a conversation at some point, and now seemed to be the perfect time. But her left foot went down on the wrong thing at the wrong time, stepping on to her right shoelace, pulling her down to the ground in a tumble. She let out a light "Ah!" as she fell, her book slamming on to the ground, her bag spilling out to the floor, and her arms went out to protect her face. She did. Luckily, she did not break anything, except of course, for her idea of a quiet conversation with Ted. Alice's face became a bright red. Skip to next post Re: CHALLENGE: Oops!
