[13 september] A Forgotten Day (Jazz)

on April 18, 2012, 03:08:22 AM

Elijah dragged himself forth towards the library, planning on getting some studying done, already hating the fact he actually got out of bed in stead of pretending to be sick. Or dying. What in fact he actually was. Today was one of those days he would rather fast forward and pretend never existed. This day really only occurred once a year, but it was the same each year. That horrid feeling when he woke, that awful feeling trough the day and that relieve when he was in his bed and was allowed to end the day.

He did not know if he actually minded that nobody knew, just like he did not really knows why he hates the day so much. At home his parents tried making this day the most fun day of the year, every year, which put him in the center of attention every time. Maybe that was the thing that bothered him so much, that inexplicable feeling that today was a day that he had to be the center of attention.

Going to Hogwarts changed that, since nobody knew what kind of day today was, and he never reminded someone as well. In the six years Elijah has attended Hogwarts nobody has ever remembered, or even knew. Elijah sighed as he pushed open the door to the library. He felt lonely, even though he never really was. Maybe this day was really meant for celebrating?

Elijah sat down at a table, getting out his study books, feather, ink and scrolls. After dipping the feather in the ink he started to write te date in the right corner of one of his scrolls. 13 September. His birthday.

Jazelle was excited.  What else was new?  But really.  She had a legitimate reason this time.   Her best friend's seventeenth birthday is today.  And though he detested being focused on for whatever reason, he would have to suck it up.  Because Jazz had something special planned.  Due to the perks of being Head Girl, Jazz obtained Elijah's records and found out his birthday at the beginning of the month.  Since then she had been trying to perfect his favorite dessert and plan a low-key celebration.  In secret.

Attempting to skip up the stairs was pathetic and not going too well with her bag slung over her right shoulder.  Several times she landed on her own foot and almost doubled-over in uneven balance, but she couldn't contain her giddiness and continued on anyway.  She knew well enough that Elijah would be cooped up either in his dorm or in a dark corner of the library.  She thought it best to check the latter first.

As the librarian 'Shush'd' her for skipping loudly upon entering, Jazz's eyes darted around frantically, looking for that bushy-haired shy boy.  Imagining herself as a covert spy, Jazz slunk down and moved around as stealthily as possible.  Which, since it was her, wasn't very stealthy.  It didn't matter; she was having fun.  Finally she saw him.  Straightening up and trying to act as casual as possible, she greeted him with a chipper 'Good morning' and wiggly wave.

Sitting down across from Elijah, she had to bite her lip to keep from squealing in anticipation.  Instead of blurting out her dastardly plans, she pulled attention to his books.  "Studying, really?" she said in exasperation.

"It's a beautiful day.  At least do it outside where you can get some fresh air.  Come on, I'll join you.  It'll be a group learning activity.  Though is two really a group?" she trailed off in mock thought.

"Anyway, come on.  The fresh air and subtle sunshine will do you good." she finished with a cock of her head toward the exit.  She didn't leave him opportunity to object, because she was already up and doing weird motions with her hands for him to follow her.
