[2nd September] Money Makes the World Go 'Round (Delilah) on March 11, 2012, 06:06:10 PM Liadan had been taking her reformation Very Seriously. She had been staying out of trouble, refusing to so much as set foot in Knockturn Alley, and was now meeting with Mungo's healer-in-charge in the hopes of getting her support and permission to plan a benefit for the hospital. Liadan saw no reason why she would be told no- but it was only appropriate to be certain those who ran Mungo's would allow her to put her name to the benefit, and then to meet with the other healers of the hospital to pinpoint their specific needs. It was mid morning on the second of September when Liadan arrived at the hospital. She made her way up to the fifth floor, and asked one of the healers who was having tea- probably on their break- where she could find Delilah. She was directed to a conference room. Liadan poked in her head, spotted the lady she was looking for, and stepped in- a bright smile on her face."Good morning, Delilah!" she greeted enthusiastically. "Thank you for making the time to meet with me this morning! I've been looking forward to it." And she had. Even if the reasons behind wanting to arrange the benefit were not entirely selfless, it would still be a good deed when it was all said and done."I hope I'm not keeping you from anything pressing, I'm certain it gets hectic around here." She nodded to the petite blonde witch from her chair at the conference table as the girl continued to greet her. "Yes we've had a rather rough summer," after werewolves and terrorists Delilah considered that 'particularly rough' might be an understatement, "We all have our bad times, but we adjust and get better prepared for 'di future," she gestured to a chair next to her with her gaze still on the blond witch, "Please sit." It seemed like everyone had it rough that summer, although Delilah was only vaguely sure how harsh Liadán's summer, or year rather, had been on the girl. But it was nice to see her in better spirits than when Delilah had last seen her, and the child had probably learned something valuable from all of it, "You seem to be doing well." She pressed her toes firmly against the ground to keep balance, wishing- not for the last time- she was just a few inches longer in the legs. "Well enough, I suppose," Liadan offered. "Things have been very difficult with the farm and my personal life has suffered from recent mishaps... But I am attempting to get back to the way things were last year, put on a brave face, and continue to prove to the wizarding world that O Morain farms is as strong as it ever was, and that my name is not something to be feared or forever tainted. The line does end with me, after all." The proper line, at any rate. Declan's offspring did not count, nor did the various offshoots of her family. Liadan rested a leather bound folder on the table, inside was a short stack of parchment. "I will get right down to the reason for my visit. I'm afraid it is not a social call. As I said, I am attempting to repair a damaged reputation- my own and that of the farm- and was wondering whether or not it might be possible for me to work on arranging a benefit for St. Mungo's?" Liadan asked. "At the moment is simply an idea without much work put into it. I wanted to be sure I had the appropriate permissions before I truly set to work with organizing everything. But I supposed a grand event meant to raise funds for the hospital would be an excellent thing to do and benefit everyone involved." Then she let her dark eyes fall on the girl's leather folder as the witch went on to explain her agenda and wishes, while she poignantly ignored the existence of Declan, despite how dangerously close she nearly got to his situation. But Liadan was older and had a few more social graces to work with than her brother did in school. She lifted her eyes to gaze into Liadan's mismatched ones and gave a respectful node, "Ah yes, but blood does run deep and you 'ave plenty of t'ings to pass on, dear." Liadan was not Delilah's favorite person in the world, but as a pureblood the girl had a lot to offer, and plenty of potential to build upon--even if she did exhibit some childish tendencies at times. "Of course-- the Board would never spurn an opportunity to get more funds for th' hospital," Delilah raised her eyebrows as a smirk gently tugged at her lips, "Especially considering 'di attack during th' end of th' summer and 'di current werewolf issues." She raised and tilted a slim hand kissed in a darker summer tan, "T'ings needed to be budgeted and reorganized accordingly.""It will naturally boil down to when and where it is held, who is invited and how 'di event will be handled," she then turned her palm upward and directed it at Liadan, "And of course the duties and roles you would wish to take on for such an event." Delilah then curled her fingers until only her forefinger remained extended, as she pointed it at the folder, "What are you ideas for any of that?" It doesn't give much time, but I have confidence that I could pull something together. I did not intend to restrict the guest list," she added. "All adult witches and wizards would be invited, and I could run some ads in the Daily Prophet about it between now and then to make sure that people save the time to attend."Liadan opened her folder, and peered at the notes she had scribbled. "The ideas I mostly have are ways to raise money. I thought it would be nice to have a costume contest, and the winner gets a large sum donated to the hospital in their name. Other than that, I was going to accept some pieces for auction- artifacts, art, things like that. Attempt to invite and gain the support of some of our wizard celebrities- some popular quidditch players, I thought I might see if Dolly St. James would be interested in helping." As much as Liadan disliked Dolly, she did have a star power that was hard to rival these days. "Perhaps some poker games, things of that nature.""Just a nice, fun, simple Halloween ball. Costumes not required. I would be tempted to say formal dress- but many witches and wizards might be turned off, so I supposed semi-formal to formal attire would be allowable."Liadan looked to Delilah with a smile. "I really want to do something good, and I don't want to ostracize any witches or wizards or discourage their attendance. St. Mungo's is a place that cares for all of those with magical ability, and all of those with magical ability should be allowed to lend aid in whatever way they saw fit. I thought holding it around Halloween would encourage a larger amount of attendance. Even adults have a hard time turning down the opportunity to wear a costume and have a good time with friends." Delilah uncurled her long fingers as she gave an approving nod with an airy hum, "Ah Halloween..." her lips creased into a smile, "Too perfect a time for celebration for any witch or wizard to pass up. Torquil and I usually spend a few days boiling a few cauldrons around 'di cottage for any spirits lurking about," but with a quick short shrug of her shoulders that trembled strands of her braided locks, Delilah refocused her attention back onto Liadan's endeavor. "Why not encourage others to wear costumes?" eyebrows rose into a tall arches over her eyes, "Depending on where you hold it, while feasts and non-alcoholic drinks are left out for everyone to freely enjoy, those wearing costumes could have access to an open bar.""And if 'dere are be games should persons bet 'deir own money or use charms crafted into chips, 'dat can be used to celebrate 'di night as well as partake in games?"She leaned back in her chair and away from the notes as she waved a hand over her shoulder, "Posters could also be made," she didn't know if Liadan would want to take up that duty or not, so she allowed her wording to be vague, "'Den we can also hang an advertisement in the Tea Shop."
