Full Character Name: Magnus Amadeus Crane
    Character Birthday & Age: May 4, 1995. 14.

    Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Halfblood
    House & Year: Hufflepuff, 4th.

Wand: Oak, Dragon heartstring, 10 ½ inch.

Physical Description: Magnus is approximately five foot eight and still growing. He is lean, and toned from constant physical activity, but not from conscious efforts to exercise. He has dark blonde hair, cut short yet fashionably, at his parent's insistence, and it has lightened streaks during the summers when he is outside more. During summer breaks he is let off the hook and it tends to grow out a bit more through his disinterest in fashion, until September rolls around and his mother puts her foot down.He tans easily and his tan usually remains through a good portion of the school year until the winter months take over and he blends a bit more with the other students.

Personality Description: Magnus was always an inquisitive, yet shy young man. He enjoys learning new things and is the type of person who when taking an interest in something, will familiarize himself with aspect of it until he is able to recall and share numerous facts and trivia. Although he loves to learn, Magnus does not approve of the way most classes are structured. Magnus absolutely hates being forced to sit in stuffy classrooms, forced to listen to lectures about the same old tired subjects. He much prefers classes that are more hands on, making charms and transfiguration his strongest subjects. He does not fare well at all when it comes to such classes as History of Magic and Ancient Runes. His attention span becomes almost non- existent and is unable to keep from fidgeting, which often results in trouble.

Magnus is quite shy and is never the first to approach people. The truth is, many of his peers find his quirks rather annoying and have no qualms about letting him know. As a writer he likes to observe people and how they interact with one another in natural settings, and goes on to apply what he has learned to make his characters more realistic. Of course, people don’t see it that why and just assume he’s creepy. He has also fallen into the habit of eavesdropping and if something of particular interest is overheard, he requests permission to use it in one of his stories. The other guys don’t bully him outright, but they don’t exactly welcome him into the social circle with open arms. He is always the last resort when lessons require partners and is often given the “this seat is taken” spiel. It doesn’t bother him too much because he finds most other guys his age vulgar and uninteresting. Magnus is perfectly happy being on his own, having his own adventures.

History: Magnus' parents met as newly employed members of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts division in the Ministry of Law Enforcement. Their shared love of all things pertaining to muggles and ancient history made them fast friends and soon enough, lovers. After submitting their resignation notices, they left the Ministry for good and spent the first several years of their marriage traveling the world.

After three years they found themselves broke and were forced to settle in a rundown flat in the shaddy part of town in a wizard community near Diagon Alley. It wasn't long before Emily discovered she was eating for two, which left the couple in distress as they could barely manage with the the two of them. Life was hard for the little family at first, but when Magnus was around nine years old, everything changed for the better.

Emily's great great great grandfather, whom everyone assumed was just immortal because the old fart just wouldn't die, finally kicked the bucket and left a quarter of his fortune to Emily. It wasn't enough for her to claim world domination, but it was enough to buy a decent home for her family and there was even some left over for what she and Rico missed dearly, travel. Since Magnus was starting school soon and wouldn't be home much anyway, they sent for Rico's father to come live with the boy and set out on their journeys once more. Magnus loves his grandfather, but is glad for the time spent away from home and at Hogwarts.

Magnus has always shared a very loving relationship with both his mother and father. Early on in his childhood, Magnus often accompanied his parents to low cost museum visits and art exhibitions, and other such places. Although they were in a bad place financially, the Crane’s made it their primary goal to expose young Magnus to various cultures and educate him on the histories of the many people and places, past and present, that have contributed to making the world the magnificent sphere of infinite knowledge and adventure that it is today. Their hard work definitely paid off because Magnus grew up to be quite an inquisitive lad with a thirst for knowledge. He learned to read at the age of four and hasn’t stopped since. One of his favorite activities growing up was acting out plays that he had either read or written himself, and made his parents play along, which they gladly agreed to each time. Needless to say, Magnus had an exceptionally happy childhood and with the help of his parents, has turned out to be an overall pretty good guy.

The first two years at Hogwarts were perhaps his best. As a first year student, he was absolutely clueless and loved every minute of it. Each day was an adventure for Magnus, whether it was learning a new charm or getting lost and not being able to find his way to class, he’d never been happier. By his third year, Magnus was better acquainted with his surroundings and had fallen into the routine of writing regularly and studying as best he could. By fourth year, he has considered taking his writing more seriously and is eager to discuss possible career paths with his parents.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Magnus is not particularly ambitious, nor is he a top student. He is, however, a hard worker as well as a patient and loyal young man. He is accepting of others and is always willing to help those in need.

Writing Sample: Magnus stood up, and cleared his own throat, not intending to imitate the professor. He ignored the snickers of some of the boys in front of him and began, as if they didn't exist. He looked straight at Slughorn, trying to look relaxed, as if being singled out were a normal everyday occurrence. Never mind that he'd never had to stand up and recite in his past three years.

"The blood, the liver, the scales, skin, fangs, and the horn as well as other organs are all used in potions. The horn of the Romanian Longhorn has been used to such excess that they are now a Class B tradeable material, and the numbers of Romanian Longhorns have decreased."

"Very good, Crane, five points for Hufflepuff.
    "
Magnus sat back down, and set his sights solely on Slughorn, ignoring the glares of some of the Ravenclaws, who considered long answers, mostly book quotes, their sole territory by right. When the professor turned to the board, he turned his head slightly to the left, and gave a small, smug smile to one of the more disgruntled boys, at least one he knew was both several inches shorter than him, and pants at Charms and Dueling to boot.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Magnus is halfblood Hufflepuff in his fourth year at Hogwarts. He is a shy boy who when not working on his studies, prefers spending time reading or writing stories for leisure. He is not unfriendly, but often feels detached from his peers and it for that reason he is unable to form any lasting friendships. Magnus loves to learn and is always searching for something new and exciting to encounter, especially because he is an aspiring writer and is constantly on the hunt for his next inspiration. His hobbies and interests keep Magnus fairly busy during this time at Hogwarts, so being without friends is not exactly a great loss as far as he is concerned.
