Wiedman Signs on for Another Season at Last Possible Opportunityby Paul McCoy
31 August 2009
Dominik Wiedman left his fans waiting in the lurch until the last, excruciating moment on Saturday, all of them wondering if he would continue with the Falmouth Falcons or be retired this season - and nobody knew for sure until his name was announced Saturday in the first game of the new season - Falmouth Falcons vs. the Pride of Portree.
Wiedman's ten-year, Ministry-appointed contract with the Falmouth Falcons was his ticket out of Azkaban following his involvement in the Battle of Hogwarts. Over the years as we've followed his career and what little we can muster of his personal life, we've watched Wiedman venting his aggression and racking up the most creative fouls imaginable - both on and off the Pitch. We've wondered time and again if his intenable fury was the product of a guilt-trodden soul or the wrath of a genuinely soulless monster. There are plenty who still consider the latter a distinct possibility, but the news is out: Dominik Wiedman is a free man. And this new man wants to continue playing Quidditch.
In what was anticipated to be a long, drawn-out affair reminiscent of his sentencing trials ten/eleven years ago, Wiedman's strange contract was "up for review" this Summer. The results of this review were an anticlimax for fans - although it certainly gave us all plenty to gossip about as we waited for news. Whatever transpired happened behind closed doors, with the end result being that Wiedman's mandatory sentence to play for the Falcons has expired and no further "disciplinary actions" are to be taken at this time. We'll all just have to see if our favourite, brainless bludger-basher will fly off the deep-end and murder us all en mass. Luckily, he still has a way to vent his aggression.
Wiedman has reportedly signed a voluntary contract for at least another season, much to the delight of his die-hard fans. Now playing alongside fresh talent Callum Knight, Wiedman seems to be starting the new season with gusto.
