"Are you always this arrogant? Look at you, standing there with your head held high. I mean, I knew Durmies were confident, but you... You're a bit self-important, aren't you? I s'pose I can't let a Durmstrang out...er, would that be out-apathy me? I can't let you beat me in not crying, anyway."
Franz tilted his slightly, honestly considering her words. They didn't sound... insulting in the slightest. Which made him curious for the fact that it was a legitimate question. But the German boy honestly wasn't sure how to answer that. Which was... curious. This had never happened before. "I suppose that's one way to put it," he finally said. And that was really all he could think of easily. "Oh I'm sure I would cry if the right stimuli came up," Franz admitted "But suit yourself, don't let me win," he grinned at her.
He lifted his head slightly as he heard a bell. Must be the end of a class. Interesting. He hadn't realized how long he'd been speaking with this girl. Curious... he didn't expect a Hogwarts student to be that interesting.
"All right, then. Challenge accepted. We'll see who the bigger monster is by the end of the year. We'll be ourselves and whichever has turned out the nastier wins. By the way, I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone I can cry. Only one other person knows--and she's promised she'll never tell. You have to promise, too."
"Is that so?" Franz asked in an oddly playful tone. He wasn't really expecting that sort of a question to come from her. "Fine, I'll keep your secret." It wasn't like it was that big of a deal, anyways.
"After all, why not let them all think you're a monster. For now."
