    Job & Description:

An ex-auror, Leon is now a member of the Wizengamot. He sits as a juror on the trials of those who have broken wizarding law. It is his job to decide if the defendant is guilty or not, and he takes his job very seriously. He was involved in a lot of the cases to put Death Eaters into Azkaban, and his relentless attitude has earned him a fair number of enemies.

    Physical Description:

Leon is a large, robust man. There is still evidence of his days as an Auror, most of it hidden under the toils of sitting behind a desk. His new, less active lifestyle now reveals a steadily growing stomach which his kids will happily poke fun at. Still, he is strong and though he has a few extra layers of warmth, it is only ‘extra cushion’ for his muscles. At least, that’s his excuse.

Leon’s face is a mix of slowly appearing wrinkles, facial stubble and deep scars, most notably the one running diagonally across his left cheek. This was received in the battle of Hogwarts from a charming death eater. The way he figures it, he wasn’t the most handsome man to begin with. If anything, it’s only made him more interesting.

With his receding hair line and light colored hair (notably more gray at the temples than before), he has come into his age rather well. He looks more likely to bounce kids on his knee than chase criminals anymore, but he can quickly turn from jolly and good natured to serious and chastising.

    Personality Description:

Believing in justice, the law and protecting others, Leon is infuriatingly law abiding and chivalrous. But then, since he used to enforce the law and imposes it, he should really obey it himself.

Although the man tries not to hold grudges, he can’t help it most of the time. He has a hatred of those that helped Voldemort, and it has distorted his view of that time greatly. He believes strongly in the idea that if someone breaks the law once, they are far more likely to repeat and probably get worse. He tries to have faith in people, but if they’ve done something wrong, it will take a lot to gain that back.

Now ten years on from the war, Leon has finally moved away from living like he was still in one. He is far less suspicious of people now and will try to give the majority a benefit of the doubt. A family man, he is rather hard on those who he cares most about, wanting to see them successful, independent, straight edged, and happy.

    History:

The eldest the 5 children, Leon Carter was born on the 12th of January, 1952 to Claire (a pureblood witch) and Jacob Carter (a muggle surgeon). He was followed by his 3 brothers (Sam, Jamie and Alex) and finally his sister (Miranda). He was the first to attend Hogwarts and was happily placed in Ravenclaw where his intelligence and basic pigheadedness thrived.

As soon as he finished Hogwarts, Leon commenced training to become an auror, having always wanted to help and protect people, after having many years practice with younger siblings. He felt it was his job to protect others. With this innate ability, he would make a fine Auror.

During the first war, Leon was a relatively inexperienced auror and found himself getting exposure that aurors previously might not have had. The cases he dealt with, the people he worked with, and the tension of the times caused many who worked to become easily suspicious and tense. Especially if you didn’t know if you could trust the person next to you as far as you could throw your wand. Still, it was his experience during this time that made him as staunch on the law as he is today.

It was with the first war, so many of the younger generation felt that fighting was better than lying down and letting Voldemort and his dogs trample over them. Along with that, however, romance blossomed quickly and turned serious even quicker. It was no wonder, then, that Leon married his then girlfriend shortly near the end of the first war. Julia was his rock and the person who kept him from flying off the handle completely. When so many friends are lost or turn out to be different, you need someone to be calm and collected.

Near the end of the first war, Julia found out she was pregnant with their first child. Within the next few years, they added on to their little family. Thomas was the first born, followed by the twins James and Gregory. Life was hectic and busy, but once the fall of Voldemort was in the past, life felt... good, whole. He prospered in the Auror department as well as at home, and after his experience during the first war and the pleasure of his higher ups, he was promoted to Senior Auror. Helping train newcomers, giving them good examples and forcing them to think on their own, were his biggest accomplishments. He also helped put many Death Eaters into Azkaban, his passion for the law starting to grow more than usual at this point.

When the second wizarding war began, he was a bit more invested in it than previously. He had a wife he loved and had been with for over twenty years, plus their three children. Even though they were all adults and making their own lives, he still worried about them. Leon attempted to keep his family safe as well as protect the innocent lives put at risk by Voldemort’s sudden return.

Leon evaluated what he was doing. He was getting on in his years, and couldn’t keep up as well with the younger generation of Aurors. Feeling as if he had equipped the newest batch of Aurors as best he could, Leon put in a transfer. Leaving his post at the Auror Department, he moved on to the Wizengamot. At least there he hoped he would have the ability to stand up for what he saw as small but drastic changes in the way the world was being run.

After the fall of Voldemort, Leon helped put away a lot of criminals and Death Eaters. After two wars with them being the brunt of violence, he had very little sympathy. He had extreme pleasure in putting Kingstreet away as well, and voted against an early release. When that happened, he was both displeased and warned those he trusted to watch their backs; things weren’t looking good.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:

As a law abiding man, Leon finds it difficult to sympathize with those who don’t follow the rules. He has very strong beliefs that guide how he lives his life, and how he represents himself. It is important to him that those who do not follow the law are made to be punished, so that they may learn from their mistakes and, hopefully, learn some healthy respect for why things are the way they are.
