As a result, their mother had to homeschool Emeline because she did not want her children to face werewolf discrimination. They moved back to Cardiff after Emeline was attacked, and Zel's mother began making wolfsbane potion herself, not trusting the ministry to make it properly. He and Emeline are very close.After the death of his father, his mother married a nice, short Welsh wizard whose magic skills were quite dismal, and his sister Nettie was born. Zel loves his siblings dearly, and they are his closest friends. However, his relationship with his mother is strained. She resents Zel and Emeline for being werewolves, and particularly blames Emeline for the death of her first husband. As a result, her punishments to Emeline can be rather severe, even going as far as to withhold wolfsbane potions from her on occasion, and simply locking her up in the shed in the backyard. In the summer of 2009, Emeline did not receive a wolfsbane potion. As a result, she attacked Zel when he went to check up on her in the shed where she usually went during the full moon. Emeline is incredibly guilt ridden over it, and Zel feels nervous about whether or not his school will accept him, now that he is a werewolf. He desperately wants to keep his lycanthropy a secret, but he knows that once he started to regularly disappear during the full moon, word would get out. He hopes that no one will notice, because he is so shy, he never made very many friends, or at least very many close friends. He is considering distancing himself from the few people he feels comfortable with, thus erasing any chance he has of hurting them. Zel holds a large amount of resentment towards his mother, believing it is her fault that Emeline even attacked him in the first place. Zel’s mother is incredibly ashamed that two of her children are now werewolves, and subject to discrimination. She has used harsh words towards Zel and Emeline, leading the two to feel an incredibly deep sense of self-hatred. Surprisingly enough, the attack did not drive a wedge between him and his sister. In fact, the bond between them grew stronger due to their mutual lycanthropy. He understands that his sister had absolutely no control, and the only person he blames for the attack is himself. Note: Zel's mother is currently unemployed, the family is living on the paycheck of the stepfather, who is a Lawyer in the muggle world.Results of the attack:Zel's mother was sentenced to 10 years in Azkaban for child neglect and knowingly withholding wolfsbane. Emeline has to report to the ministry every month to have her doses of wolfsbane supervised, and she is being closely watched. It would give him something to focus on, and teach him to be more assertive. When he is given a responsibility, he feels like it is his duty to fulfill it. He is also not one to abuse his power, and he would be very reasonable when it comes to dealing with other students. He is also a fairly good student, though he definitely struggles in Astronomy. He has never failed a class, and has never missed turning in an assignment. He is very tolerant of others, and would not be intimidating to other students, even with his title. What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:? Zel's number one concern would be to make sure that the school is a safe place for students. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, though he also acknowledges that there is a lot of grey area that needs to be addressed as well. He wouldn't consider deducting points to be a big part of his job The number one thing he would keep an eye out for is bullying. That is something that he would not tolerate. He would do his very best to intervene in the bullying situation-- and that would be one of the few situations where he would deduct points. He would also report the bullying to the Head of House to dole out the proper punishment. Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle: The only in character AO example I can think of right off the bat is the current thread he has with Katy Bevans. She walked in on him with her owl, and was distraught that the owl liked him more than it liked her. Although it was a small situation, he followed her out of the Owlery to try to explain the situation as best he could and make her feel better about herself, and help her understand that animals are just as fickle and picky as humans are. I think this shows that he is very willing to help students understand things the way he does, and it shows that he is very compassionate and willing to help his peers, even if the situation is a small one. It would give him something to focus on, and teach him to be more assertive. When he is given a responsibility, he feels like it is his duty to fulfill it. He is also not one to abuse his power, and he would be very reasonable when it comes to dealing with other students. He is also a fairly good student, though he definitely struggles in Astronomy. He has never failed a class, and has never missed turning in an assignment. He is very tolerant of others, and would not be intimidating to other students, even with his title. What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:? Zel's number one concern would be to make sure that the school is a safe place for students. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, though he also acknowledges that there is a lot of grey area that needs to be addressed as well. He wouldn't consider deducting points to be a big part of his job The number one thing he would keep an eye out for is bullying. That is something that he would not tolerate. He would do his very best to intervene in the bullying situation-- and that would be one of the few situations where he would deduct points. He would also report the bullying to the Head of House to dole out the proper punishment. Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle: The only in character AO example I can think of right off the bat is the current thread he has with Katy Bevans. She walked in on him with her owl, and was distraught that the owl liked him more than it liked her. Although it was a small situation, he followed her out of the Owlery to try to explain the situation as best he could and make her feel better about herself, and help her understand that animals are just as fickle and picky as humans are. I think this shows that he is very willing to help students understand things the way he does, and it shows that he is very compassionate and willing to help his peers, even if the situation is a small one.
