Physical Description: Heinrich is an anomaly in his family.  Where the vast majority of the Fausts are above average height and blonde with eyes the colour of a clear October sky, he is smaller and dark haired.

His small stature, compared to his siblings given the impression that he is not as tough as one might expect.  He grew up the youngest of seven brothers and if there is one thing that upbringing taught him, it was to be tough.

Personality Description: Heinrich was a slow learner at first.  Many spells were difficult for him but he learned patience and determination.  He finds his way through problems slowly, methodically.  He may be slow but he is inexorable.  He can be stubborn and frequently fixates on a task.

He is kind and determined, making friends easily.  He smiles a lot.  He can carry a trace of arrogance at times but laughs at himself as well.  He has an interest in being a healer but also is feeling pressure from his family to follow in the family tradition of hunting dark wizards.

He idolizes his eldest brother, Viktor, who seems to lead a charmed existence.  He is the yardstick by which Heinrich measures himself.  He constantly falls short but that just makes him try that much harder.

History: The Fausts claim to trace their line back to the original Faust who sold his soul for magical power in the late 1500s.  The have spent much of the time since living down the reputation of tainted magic and have recently gained a reputation as fierce opponents of dark magic, especially during the second rising of Voldemort.

They consider themselves Purebloods although it is unusual for a Faust to take a witch as a bride.  Their claim comes from an unbroken line of sons.  There has not been a daughter born into the line in over 500 years.

Heinrich himself is the seventh son of a seventh son and great things are expected of him.  As the youngest of seven brothers he grew up constantly being on the bottom.  It forced him to learn to fight back and he is tougher than he looks, especially when compared to his brothers.

He was constantly teased that he wasn't a 'real Faust' due to his darker colouring, being told that he was an adopted Muggle up until his magic first manifested.  it gave him a lifelong dislike of teasing and bullying.

His early schooling was difficult for him.  So much was expected of him that his own fear of failure prevented his success.  It wasn't until he learned how to set aside the expectations of others that he was able to really begin to excel.

The subjects he excelled at even before his breakthrough are those that are primarily knowledge based.  His favourite subject is History of Magic and he frequently surprises his teachers with the amount of lore he possesses.  Potions  runs a close second, although he is less likely to impress in that class.

At home his father insisted on his sons learning more than one language, with a minimum of French and English in addition to their native German.  Given Heinrich's early difficulty in school he was permitted to stop at the minimum but it sometimes bothers him that some of his brothers have added a fourth language, so he's interested in learning another one himself.  He hasn't decide which one and may not for some time.

He enjoys flying but he never saw the point of playing Quidditch.  He likes watching it but is definitely a spectator.

On his fifteenth birthday, he was given a black Pomeranian as a gift by his mother.  He claims to despise the tiny dog but displays quite the opposite attitude if the dog is injured or threatened.  He's also discovered that girls seem to love the little dog and he enjoys the residual attention.  The dog's name?  Hollenhund (Hellhound), which he frequently shortens to Holly.

Why Was The Student Allowed/Permitted To Attend The Tournament?: Heinrich was chosen as a potential champion based on his skill, knowledge and desire.  He has shown excellent problem solving skills, an ability to stand up for himself and others and has demonstrated that he can think quickly under pressure, in contrast with what many expect from him.  He is determined and proud but knows his limitations.  He tries to play to his strengths.
