[Sept. 3rd] Sneaky Dark Shadows [Beatrix]

on February 21, 2012, 05:36:05 PM

Skipping Care of Magical Creatures class would have been extremely hard for Bellatrix...had the professor not been switched over the summer break. She was somewhat miffed about it, but whether O'Morain had stayed or not, she had a plan and it was oh-so-exciting. The darker of the Dark twins breaking the rules at Hogwarts was no longer a surprise. Indeed, it was expected.

What lurked in her mind may have been mischief as far as skipping class went, but her excuse was important. Her OWL results had created a very big problem for Bellatrix: she couldn't see her twin sister as much anymore since they only had 3 classes together. Skipping Herbology was improbable since her twin helped her out and Defense Against the Dark Arts was too much fun. She almost hoped that the school would take her not showing up to class as a rebellion against the new teacher, but that was giving the head staff way too much credit. After all, the new Headmaster knew nothing about the Dark twins; they were just students to him, probably.

The blond-and-black haired girl checked the corridor for any sign of staff that might be checking for a wayward student. Luckily, she found none and casually waited for her sister, whom she had slipped a note to earlier stating to meet her here. This idea would likely be supported by Lil Bee, but there was always that concern that her sister would reject it. After all, Bellatrix's ideas weren't what people usually think of and since her break-up with Xavier last year, she had started to focus a little more on her future. This idea, she hoped, would be her future...

Uniform.

Beatrix tapped her finger against her thigh. No particular rhythm was being made, as she was considerably anxious, but she tapped in quick jolts. She seemed to follow her own heartbeat, drumming the pulse of her pumping blood. Beatrix had gotten Bella's note, alright. She wondered what could be so important to draw her out of class, but Beatrix never expected consistency with her own sister's thoughts. Bella needed no reasoning. And if Bella wanted to draw Bea out of class, Bea would have to oblige. It was partially because she felt like she needed to baby her sister, although Bella had a much more dominant personality than she. It was also partially because Beatrix knew Bellatrix would be disappointed if she didn't show up. Beatrix's priorities in life were keeping up the well being of those she cared about. Especially after the twins had their little spat in their fifth year. And especially after Vincent grew so wearisome of Beatrix's flirtatious habits. Beatrix never felt more horribly upset about herself then upon realizing she was untrustworthy. A backstabbing bimbo with no motive. She was used to doing as she pleased with no repercussions. She preferred to think about all of that as a learning experience, as she hated to think about all the awful things she had done.

Beatrix Dark had grown up that summer. She still had her childish disposition... But reality had crashed down quite hard on the small girl. She started thinking more, letting in her surroundings, analyzing what she was doing wrong. She remained optimistic, but a sense of dread would come over her every now and then. She wasn't sure who to thank for opening her eyes. She probably saw it all on her own, but she had a little help from her sister and her ex boyfriend. Beatrix realized her flaws, realized how awful of a person she could be. Hell, Beatrix wasn't that awful. But she had begun to dwell too much on certain aspects of herself. It was amazing how much someone could learn to detest themselves over a few bad days. Bellatrix forgave Bea, and Bea got over her breakup, but... She was still bubbly as ever, however. Her teenage angst couldn't deter her anymore than anyone else. Beatrix wanted to fix her flaws, though. She wanted to be trustworthy. She wanted a boy to feel comfortable in a relationship with her. And while Bellatrix swore she forgave Beatrix, she still felt as if she had something to make up for. Beatrix didn't like the thought of being bad or making anyone upset. She enjoyed a nice slice of rebellion, but she would always be the rule abiding, innocent girl she always was. She may have had a problem with flirting with everyone, but that was simply how Beatrix functioned. She was naturally sweet... That didn't necessarily mean flirting. The everyone-needs-my-physical-affection thing was a different story.

On the other hand, Beatrix's loss of authority had dampened her outlook on following the rules. While being prefect, she insisted on following the rules, even when she made a conscious effort not to. She simply could not stray away from her duties. However, now that she was freed of her ball and chain, she felt the sudden urge to do as she pleased. Hell, she could skip a class or two. She didn't have to go to every class. And in this case, she wasn't actually skipping class. She was excusing herself to go to the bathroom and never returning. She simply hoped the professor wouldn't notice, although she doubted they wouldn't. Either way, Beatrix's tiny hand popped up, done with tapping against her thigh. It took a bit for her professor to notice her tiny frame, but she wiggled to and fro, pink hair bouncing along with her hips. However, due to her bubbly, overbearing nature, she was able to catch their attention. She excused herself, twisting the hem of her sweater as she spoke, signifying the urgency she had to use the lavatory. As soon as she was given permission, she frolicked out the door with her bag clumsily pulled over arms. She began to jog down the corridor, fingers holding onto the straps of her backpack, high heels deterring her from attempting to run any faster. She checked the note her sister gave her once more.

She slowed to a trot when she turned the corner, reaching her destined corridor. She spotted her sister and gave her an enthusiastic wave, as if she hadn't seen her just that morning at breakfast. The sweeter Dark twin always came off as incredibly surprised when she encountered her very own sister. It was one of the many reasons why people believed her to be a ditz, though she truly was just happy to see her sister. Beatrix valued the time she had with her loved ones, as corny as that sounded. It was simply because she was a very neglected child. She valued the time she had with her father, therefore she grew accustomed to only being able to see her friends and sister sparsely. A lot of crap happened because of parents' neglect. But Beatrix chose to ignore it. She believed her family to be relatively normal, completely ignoring the fact that they were beyond the line drawn for normality.

"Bellatrix!" Bea cooed and pulled her twin into a tight hug. She immediately placed a hand over her own mouth, suddenly conscious of her own volume. She hushed up and glanced around them before beginning in a quieter voice, "What's going on? Did something happen?" Her blue eyes stared into their duplicates, searching to see if everything was swell. Her sister looked pleased enough, so she visibly relaxed, "We weren't doing much in class," it was the first week after all, "So I suppose getting out is a bit of a relief." She giggled and took her sister's hand, intertwining their fingers. It was something they tended to do when they spoke in private. Beatrix wasn't sure if Bellatrix was very fond of it or if she was simply tolerant. She always held hands when she spoke to people softly. Razzy was indifferent with it, and Daddy Dark didn't seem too bothered. Beatrix was affectionate, and people had to get used to it. If they didn't... Well... It tended to be harder for Beatrix to communicate with them.

It was such a joy to see her near-opposite twin coming down the hall, pink hair brilliantly lighting up the place. Bellatrix smiled at the sight of Lil Bee and returned the hug, knowing how good it made her sister feel. Her sister holding her hand had always been extremely awkward for Bella unless there was something wrong with one of them, namely due to the fact that she was a little paranoid people would mistake it for softness. Then again, everyone at Hogwarts knew that Bella's only true soft spot was her twin sister and Beatrix was the only person that could truly connect with the dark "half".

"Nothing's wrong," she answered reassuringly. "I just...wanted to tell you something."

Normally, telling her twin a secret wouldn't be a problem yet there was still that fear that her sister would reject the idea outright. She was, for the first time, a little nervous about running an idea past Lil Bee since it was going to affect her future in a big way. Since her break-up with Xavier Tawse (and all of the run-ins and spats with him thereafter), Bellatrix had absorbed herself in her studies and, primarily, music. Her O.W.L.'s had prompted her to begin thinking about her future, but she chose to involve herself further in books and studying. When the summer holidays arrived, the pursuit of studying was no longer an option. Thus, she began to again think really hard about her future. What did she want to do with her life? What direction was she going? What career would be good for her? It certainly wasn't the Ministry of Magic and, despite the life of the underground, Bellatrix honestly did not want to become a criminal selling fake potions to people. Fashion Designer was certainly an option since she could think of so many designs for wizarding apparel, but after that comment at that purist dinner about her wearing "muggle clothing"... She wasn't entirely certain her father would be happy with her choice.

The answer finally came on the radio announcing The Weird Sisters and, later that evening, Three Owl Standard. She gave a great deal of consideration to the matter, but something in her gut told her it was the right decision. It was what she wanted to do the most. During the rest of the summer, Bellatrix thought long and hard about how she could get her career started. As her blue eyes traveled over her dear twin's face, she suddenly realized why she was nervous: this was her choice for a career and it wouldn't involve Beatrix. Would it hurt her feelings? Was it possible that it could distance them from one another once and for all? The last thing she wanted to do was make her twin sister feel alone, like Bellatrix didn't want her to be part of her life. Still, would she not be more hurt if Bellatrix didn't tell her?

"I' know it's not like me, but since last year's career fair, I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do after Hogwarts. My O.W.L.'s honestly don't matter and neither do my N.E.W.T.s, but I want to know what you think... I want to start a band here at Hogwarts. I've decided..." She made eye contact with her sister, the fear of hurting her sister's feelings fully exposed in the depths of the blue irises. "I've decided I want to be a Wrock Star."
