[Aug 16] No One to Tell Us No, or Where to Go! [PM]

on January 21, 2012, 07:18:09 PM

Darkness sat like a stagnant dream against the night sky, dappled with stars and eternally sleeping, watching over the glowing pink and blue spired castle that belonged to a sleeping princess of an aged tale. Of course, for the theme park that surrounded it in colorful lights, glistening off the dark waters and streams of the park, the castle was an iconic monument of a classic movie, about a princess, her knight in shining armor, and an evil and diabolical witch. Things that only lived in stories and dreams for muggles.

As the hours waned and the park grew closer and closer to closing, one might think that things in the park might suddenly come to life, some sneaky sea-witch might swim around the corner, or that something unusual might happen, but guards and park staff ushered people away from the park and its attractions before anyone could really test such theories. So, these ideas remained dreams and theories. Even with the lack of an audience, and the guards who patrolled during the night, nothing really seemed happened. Even in the crazy and twisted turns of Alice's Curious Labyrinth, the Cheshire remained still, the cards remained statues, and The Caterpillar continued to lifelessly puff out light clouds of smoke against the darkness. And so, these guards and staff members left the maze and disappeared to other corners of the park.

But that was their mistake.

From behind The Caterpillar's large fungiferous mushroom seat, a pair of green eyes and a mane of curly haired rose to look around the bushes. Once the coast was clear the girl climbed on top of the mushroom and then the surveyed the scene, before happily pulling herself up next to the plastic bug and looking around for where her friend was hiding. Ah yes, that night, if someone would have paid more attention, they may have found real witches and wizards hiding in the corners Disneyland Paris.

Then Naomi looked down at the boy who was tucked into her hiding place with her, "Get yourself up, c'mon," she said in her low lilt before turning to look back at her friend. They had had a long day at the park, and had snuck in sometime during the late afternoon and enjoyed the park since, but Naomi and Veronica never really did anything the normal way. In their bags they both had brooms with disillusionment charms already cast on them, a slew of things from the Weasley's joke shop, and plenty of other nonsense that they could use without setting off tracers with their wands. Kelvin and Blake were just going to get caught up in their nonsense that night.

"Ey, psst, Ronni," Naomi whispered to her in the dark, before posing next to the statue. She looked very lazy as she pursed her lips and put two bare fingers over her mouth, then lifted them off her lips as she blew out a cloud of smoke; successfully pulling of a Jamaican wizarding technique used for detox (and other things.) Like a giant caterpillar smoking a hooka was anymore appropriate though. Then Naomi broke her pose with a bright, mischievous smile in the dark, "Too bad I'm not as artistic wit' blowin' smoke as 'di oversized bug over here."[1]
 1. Different parts of the park closes at different times, so I'm just rping that this part is closing, but there are still some parts that are open

There were probably few purebloods in the wizarding world who got such a thrill out of visiting a place as muggle-centric like Euro Disney as Blake Knight did. Despite growing up in an environment that shunned such things, it seemed to fuel the young Ravenclaw's interest even more.

For him, the trip was like being in a candy store and indeed there were so many treats to feast upon, both literally and figureatively. Notable among them being cotton candy and roller coaster rides. Now Blake understood how muggles could live without magic; they had their own ways of flying.

Blake also partook in the art of buying souvenirs, securing them both for himself and some notable classmates. During the Hogwarts Express trip at the end of the school year, a few Hufflepuff firsties had overheard Blake and Naomi talking about their plans and begged him to get Mickey Mouse ears for them. He happily did so as well as bought himself an oversized Mickey sweatshirt, knowing he would grow into it with his recent spirt already tacking on an inch or two during the summer.

He wore the sweatshirt now, along with a hat that made him look like a proper muggle, Blake was in his glory as they waited for the park to close. He didn't exactly know what Naomi or Ronnie were planning, but he was fully committed to being along for the ride. Anything that allowed him to experience the park more was okay with him.

As he waited, Blake's wide blue eyes took in his surroundings. He didn't know what it all meant, but that didn't matter. It was new and fresh and exciting.

At Naomi's command, Blake rose up from their hiding place. He watched as she did her smokey-thing with brows raised. Then he turned to the others and asked, "So what are we going to do now?"

Crouched hiding in a scene from Alice in Wonderland was not the way Kelvin had imagined closing time at the park when  they'd snuck in, though he wasn't really surprised.  And he really should have expected it, especially after sneaking in, and even though he had put up some token resistance to the idea at first, he was eager to stay as long as possible.

The day was the first truly exciting and happy day of the summer, and he was still surprised his friends hadn't tossed him into one of the ponds or fountains with the mood he had started out in, but the joy of Disney had quickly infected him.  To the point where Kelvin was still wearing the Mickey ears he had bought while Blake was picking out souvenirs.  And now they were hiding, and his heart was racing, definitely more exciting than another evening spent reading.

"Get yourself up, c'mon," He heard Naomi say, before he stood and stretched while she blew smoke into the air.  "Maybe  not as artistic, but definitely more magical." Kelvin said, before Blake asked what they were all going to do.  "We could have a mad tea party" He threw out, before realizing that he was probably the only one who would get the reference.

Veronica, like a lot of girls her age (well, maybe not as many girls that went to Hogwarts, but a lot nonetheless) carried a very special fond spot in her heart for Disney films. Never mind the fact that the magical, fanciful worlds of the princesses and beasts and fairy godmothers wasn't really that far off from her day-to-day life. It still struck her as wonderful and far-off and magnificent. It reminded her of cozy nights as a little girl spent bundled up on the couch with her sisters and even her brother, who pretended to be disinterested in the girlier movies but would never abandon his seat on the couch regardless.

She wasn't dressed in the best possible way for sneaking around, that was for sure. Or maybe she was, depending on how one looked at it. She could have been Cinderella, her dress almost a perfect replica with its puffy sleeves and its sparkling sky blue skirt. The only real differences were the fact that her skirt, poofed way out with layers of tulle, stopped just at her knees, and that her hair was pulled back into a sloppy bun rather than done elegantly like a real princess's. Her tiara looked pretty convincing, though.

The time when she was allowed to stretch her legs and get up from her hiding place couldn't have come soon enough, and as soon as Naomi began whispering to them she hoisted herself up and brushed her skirt off excitedly. She giggled at Naomi's smoke trick, and bounced up and down slightly. "Oh my God, please, you have got to teach me how to do that someday."

She found Blake's enthusiasm entirely endearing, and was genuinely glad that he was enjoying himself. She was jealous that he was getting to experience it all for the first time, though it probably meant more to her as she had begged and begged her parents to take her as a girl and they had never been able to afford it.

"If we don't get to at least get to sneak around the castle I'm going to be well miffed wiv all of ye," she announced. "No way has me carriage not turned back to a pumpkin already, might as well stay for the whole ball, 'n that."

Naomi wasn't exactly enamored with Disney--but she could imitate any of the villains and sing through all of the songs like she was possessed; it was one of the ways Naomi learned how to be a proper metamorph. Naomi also liked reading the stories Disney movies were inspired by a little more than watching the movies, because that's where the imagination began--and that's where Naomi took joy in running amok and misbehaving in the muggle world--because that's where she could make imagination take flight.

And so Naomi just spun around the caterpillar in her normal denim dress wrapped around her lanky torso and sandals holding her feet when Blake asked what they were doing. As Naomi stopped, a smirk carved its way through the witch's pouty lips, "Uh... not get caught?" she lowered a brow as she smile and shook her head at Blake, as if that was obvious. Whenever Naomi and Ronni did anything together, that was always the number one rule, next to having fun.

And then she turned to face her fellow witch, "But you're already a puffy blue veggie Ronni," Naomi said,  "Too late for that."

Then she sat down and slid off the mushroom as she matter-of-factly echoed Kelvin's suggestiong, "Hm... tea party... ball--" The raven-haired girl then slid a narrow and mischievous stare toward the blonde one, "Ronni wasn't 'dere some chewing gum we got from Weasley's, 'dat brought statues to life."

Blake snuck a glance over at Kelvin and grinned at his Mickey ears. He was glad somebody else was having as much fun as he was. Blake knew now that he could essentially be conned into doing anything at this point. Hiding out until the park closed was not going to be the end of the world.

Blake didn't respond to Kelvin's suggestion about a mad tea party, mainly because he didn't understand what that was. He was still too new to the whole Disney theme of things. Even though Naomi had mentioned something about an Alice in Wonderland and the smoking caterpillar being part of it, he still did not know as much as he needed to for the whole thing to make sense.

Blake's gaze turned then to their other cohort. While the blokes looked more shabby, Veronica looked more chic. She really had looked like some of the princesses that they had encountered throughout the day. He was about to tell her that when she made a comment about what Naomi was doing with the smoke.

And then she mentioned how she wanted to sneak around the castle. He quipped, "Don't we sneak around castles enough? Hogwarts, I mean. If you've seen one, you've seen them all, right?"

Still, Blake stepped over to her and held out his arm. "But we can't have you missing you pumpkin." Whatever that meant. Then he directed a pointed Ravenclaw gaze at Naomi and repeated, "And we can't get caught, apparently."

When Naomi started to repeat Kelvin's idea and then directed a question at Ronni, Blake regarded the two Slytherins with interest. "So the gum....we chew it and the statues come to life?" He obviously wasn't convinced.
