[August 22] A Butterbeer to Wake Up [Jay]

on January 17, 2012, 04:52:58 PM

Élodie entered the place and yawned. It was almost evening, but being idle for almost a month now was ruining her routine. She was still training everyday, fortunately, but in days like that in which all her friends were scattered through Hogsmeade and Cécile was hid behind a book, taking a nap on the afternoon was inevitable. But she still hated herself for that. So when Lola woke up she just put herself together in five minutes - though five minutes for a Beauxbaton girl was more than enough to be ready for any occasion, now it was just a matter of refrain her yawns- and headed to the place she knew would be full of different people on a Saturday.

Ah… maybe in some hours. Not that it was empty, but still she was a little disappointed. Groups of people were around, and she could tell for sure they all were formed by people from the same schools. Not that inviting, but who knows… still she hoped to find a familiar face somewhere, so she crossed her arms and lazily walked around before choosing a place to sit.

A few steps and she laughed when she finally found what she hoped for. But see him there all by himself didn’t see to be… normal. Unless he was there to study the architecture of the place or something - those things Jay enjoyed doing and Lola has to admit it, he was quite talented.

Without analyzing that curious fact more deeply, Lola sat in front of him all of a sudden. “Good evening, you! Waiting for a date?[1]” She asked, kidding, with a sweet smile but less lively than normal.
 1.  You know she's talking in French all along ;)

Jay had his head buried in his note book. The leather bound book itself was actually made out of blueprint paper. It had been given to him by his father just before he left for Scotland. Jay had never been more excited about a book in his life. He had already managed to fill up a dozen pages with potential designs since landing in Hogsmeade and he had a feeling he would be requesting a second one by Christmas Holidays. The small village was just such an inspiration. From the tiny shops to the rustic house to the places like the Owl Post and the Shrieking Shack. Jay's mind was so overwhelmed by all the new concepts he hadn't been wooing as many girls as he had initially thought he'd be. Though he supposed he had plenty of time for that, after all he was going to be here for an entire year.

He had just lifted himself out of his book long enough to take a swig of his butterbeer - which was unfortunately warm now  - when a familiar voice began to speak to him in their native tongue. Jay gave Elodie his most charming smile, "Even if I was cherie I'd drop her in an instant to spend time with you." He gave her a wink before taking his wand out and frosting his mug.

"What brings you out here all alone? I was sure by now you'd have droves of eligible British blokes fawning over you."

“Oh, I was growing tired of so many attention, you know… there’s a limit for roses and gifts and poems. So I dismissed my dozen admirers to come here steal your butterbeer.” She stated naturally, reaching his now frosted mug before him and graciously taking a sip. “Beware, they’re all free around Hogsmeade trying to get your girls!” Lola laughed, kidding all along, except for stealing his butterbeer. “I suggest you to ask another mug for you…”

If she had been serious and realistic, that would be deadly dull. Though Jay should definitely have noticed, August was passing pretty slowly. Not that she wasn’t enjoying Hogsmeade, spending time with her sister, meeting some new people, being free… especially free. If her mother ever knew she was there drinking with Jay, things would get ugly. That’s why she never really had the opportunity to be close to him back in France. Anyway, she had the constant feeling she wasn’t yet living the whole experience; maybe when they get to Hogwarts that would change.

Her eyes analyzed calmly his drawing, smiling in approval. “Scotland has been inspiring you? How’s everything been for you so far?”

Jay couldn't help the hearty chuckle that escaped his lips as he watched the little pixie steal his drink. He nodded briefly and waved at the nearest barhand, "Garçon, une autre s'il vous plait!" He turned back to Elodie hoping the poor Scot understood what he had said. He had been using so much of his English while walking around Hogsmeade it almost felt weird to be speaking in French again.

Jay dismissed the colour that had risen to his cheeks at the thought of Elodie being chased down by dozens of admirers. While he could easily tell by her tone that she was joking he couldn't help himself. The Fontaine sisters were like forbidden fruit, they were the girls every guy wanted and all the girls wanted to be like. Jay himself was rather fond of both of them and was enjoying this rare treat of having one on one face time with Elodie. Back home she wouldn't have been caught dead sipping butterbeer with him, though he knew that had nothing to do with her own desires and more or less the strict behavioural codes her mother set down for her.

He nodded with a wide smile and showed off some of his more impressive designs, "It's been spectacular. All the places here are just so unique, so vintage, so wizard. The muggle architecture back home, even the Eiffel Tower can't compare to simple beauty of magic mixed with design. I can't wait to get inside that castle, every time I look up and see it in the horizon I just-" Jay cut himself off as he realized that he was rambling on about his own personal passion (one that not many his age shared) "So how about you? You still getting your dancing in amoungst the sight seeing?"
