Two Hogwarts School Governors discuss castle renovations and accommodations on a tour of the castle in June. When Headmistress Snark goes missing in Egypt, they make haste to fill the vacancy, resulting in the appointment of Herschel Reid as Headmaster for fall 2009. Snark is not the only one affected by a trip to Egypt. Hildegarde Austerlitz, History of Magic professor, returns from her travels in August and keels over in her classroom! Luckily, the students and professors on the Year End Adventures trip suffer no ill effects beyond sunburn and spitting camels.Students end the school year at Hogwarts with a blast of paint on the grounds and mischief on the train. They drink and dance at Signature, drink and fight at Spellpunk, and cheer on the Falmouth Falcons at Figaro's Quidditch party! Recent graduates attend the Ministry Mixer to get a taste of the careers waiting for them, and Level Two hams it up with a wild west welcome! After a letter from Persepolis Zephyr, SAWS holds its first summer meeting at the Leaky Cauldron, where Zephyr gives them hope about werewolf Ollie's return to school.Speaking of werewolves, an incoming first-year is attacked and turned, though her friends and family stick by her. Salem and Hogwarts students bring up SAWS, while Frank and Hannah bristle over procedures at the RCMC close to June's full moon. After Vivienne and Delilah speak at Mungo's, Viv and Una Sophia meet to hint at plans for a potential werewolf sedative.St. Mungo's is hopping with criminals, victims, and Aurors! During a mugging, Jazz Hawke is injured and sent to the fourth floor for spell damage to heal up, where Samuel Harcroft and a new Auror trainee attempt to pinpoint the criminal's location. Anadotti Squiggs is also questioned on the fourth floor, though her description of her assailant is unintentionally entertaining. Fighting children cause Auror Pratt and Vivienne Thorpe to meet on more cordial terms, spawning a romance that we all hope to see pan out! Miranda Elliot comes back from the grave and gives Jason Marren a fright. Landis Morgan stages a WBA attack on a quiet (too quiet!) day at the hospital in late July.Elsewhere, criminals are up to no good as usual. In Diagon, Terry threatens Akiva for her connection to Dreogan, but newcomer Raizel scares him off. Caught stealing a muhra glass in the Magicarium Apothocarium, Jonas Trevelyan questions Nate Briggs and attempts to offer him a third option for more information. The Aurors take Liadán Ó Móráin into custody for her role in kidnapping a child, but Oz Whitman calls on her in the cell and she soon gets her life back in order. In August, the tournament schools make their grand entrances to an equally grand welcome in Hogsmeade! Durmstrang arrives on a ship as Professors quiz the students on their stockings and school pride, Beauxbatons arrives in Abraxan-drawn carriages and discuss what to expect from the competing schools, and Salem arrives in a Dragodirigible and debate important topics like British cussing habits and candy! As the school year looms near, foreign students are startled by the sound of bagpipes, the staff suss each other out in the Leaky Cauldron, and the Salem Athletics Director gets to wax on his favorite sport: Quodpot!Absit Omen NewsStudents return to Hogwarts and then some! The Tetrawizard Tournament has arrived!
