Wizengamot Announces New Chief Warlock

4th March 2011
The Wizengamot has issued a statement this morning announcing that Minerva McGonagall, Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be taking on the additional responsibilities of Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.

McGonagall has become a household name throughout the years, and while most remember her as the stern leader of Hogwarts, her accomplishments and accolades extend much farther than that.
At Hogwarts, Minerva has been an educator for 55 years, serving as a professor, head of Gryffindor house, deputy headmistress, headmistress, and a member of the Hogwarts Board of Governors. When Hogwarts needed a new head after the resignation of Herschel Reid, McGonagall once again took on the reigns as headmistress. She was awarded the Order of Merlin: First Class for her instrumental help in repairing the damage to Hogwarts school in the final battle of the Second Wizarding War.
McGonagall has served on the Wizengamot for 14 years, with a firm stance on equal rights for werewolves and other magical creatures. She has been vocal on her support of the Muggle Affairs Office, and has shown little patience with blood purity issues. She has a strong dislike for the art of divination, and considers most evidence brought forth through divining means to be inadmissible. She is in full support of
I.D.R.E.A.D., and has supported the Ministry in most efforts, though she still tries to keep Hogwarts autonomous.
The wizarding public seems to be of two minds on this sudden change in staffing.
"We knew we needed someone strong and fair, what with elections
[1] coming up and all that," reported
Elder Magda Fizzwhitz, "and it had to be quick, thankfully deliberations were short."
"Madame McGonagall was the obvious choice," was the voice of Henry MacLeod, retired Arithmancy Professor at Hogwarts, "though I do wonder if she's spreading herself a bit too thin," he cautioned.
Many have expressed their concerns on the matter. Should the Headmistress be taking on these extra responsibilities when fourteen students were only recently kidnapped
[2] from the school's back yard?
As of yet, we've heard no response back from the newly appointed Chief Warlock, nor do we know who she may be backing for Minister for Magic. Could this all be a ploy for the witch to take the seat herself? Only time will tell.
