A Lucy Temple? It didn't quite ring a bell, Sam thought they knew the person he was referring to, but it didn't strike them as someone from school, but Sam wasn't too sociable at school regardless so they wouldn't likely recognize most regardless.
Sam shook their head softly at Ambrose, softly crossing their arms as they leaned back into the wall of the bus to keep themselves stable against the rocking of the madness that the bus usually exhibited as it continued to drive recklessly towards the next stop, a soft sigh left their lips as they looked down towards the ground a little so they could avoid looking directly at Ambrose's face.
"No, sorry, I think I know who you mean, but I never met her in school...I didn't meet many in school in general to be honest though." They sighed, slowly rubbing their head. "Its the girl upstairs right? The one who's been crying?" Their voice got quieter as they speak. "She's been...crying the entire night more or less, I've given her the top floor so she can have more privacy, more or less."
It wasn't like there really was a way to have privacy in a public bus.

Muggle London / Re: [April 2/3] A Triple-Decker, Violently Purple Kind of NightJanuary 18, 2022, 02:56:24 PM Sam looked up as Ambrose returned, holding their hand out to take the token before the bus lurched again, the smell was immediately better, not that it was...bad in the first place but it was certainly nicer to not have the smell staying around anymore. Sam could imagine also that it was relieving for the man to be able to wash after such a grimy night, even if they didn't feel it from acclimating to the feeling after several hours, it must of felt relieving.
"Its not problem, we can't have you in a bad state for official business can we? And if they don't believe you were down there for hours, you can have them come to me." Not that Sam wanted anyone to come to them about the situation, they wouldn't be able to deal with the situation that well, but it was still an offer to stand up for Ambrose nonetheless, with the wish it never happened. Sam grabbed the previously made Hot Chocolate for Ambrose and offered it once more, still warm and without a drop spilt by some miracle given the whole concept of the bus veering all over the place. "Your Blue Caps are still all held secure, one tried to escape, they're slippery things. But I stopped it." They smiled with some pride at being able to use their skills with magical creatures, it was fun to use it again even if briefly. "I think you're only a couple of stops away now." 18
Muggle London / Re: [April 2] A Triple-Decker, Violently Purple Kind of NightAugust 16, 2021, 12:03:01 PM Sam shook their head at the question, although the rest of what Ambrose had said did make otherwise perfect sense, finding their way into sewers and wrecking havoc amongst the muggle workers, they wondered how much work the Obliviators likely had from muggles finding them in the first place or if they hadn't been dealt with quickly, although it would be nice if the Obliviators had some work, they likely didn't have work that, that often...atleast for non Knightbus incidents ultimately.
"I got an Exceeds Expectations in Magical Creatures for my NEWTS. It was one of the more enjoyable subjects to study as I got to pet creatures." It was as good a subject as any ultimately, just had massive perks from being able to pet the creatures, especially the fluffy ones, the book was not a pet that they ultimately liked, it was horrible especially when it tore itself partially apart from not stroking the spine. Not to mention it was creepy as anything! Freaky meat eating aggressive spider book! Although with the man saying what his age likely was, although Sam couldn't pin it down properly, they were obviously not done with Hogwarts yet, which made it more mad that they were just abandoned this late to do the job! And to find their own way home at the end of it all! "Right, are you going to be repaid for the bus ticket?" Sam asked quickly as they reached for the ticket machine, if they weren't then Sam was going to hand the money back, that shouldn't be something Ambrose was left to pay for himself, especially at Apprenticeship wages. "Oh and if you wish, it'll be a few stops, we've got to go to Northern Ireland and Wales before London, barring any other pickups. We have a toilet on the third floor, and although its technically staff only, if you tap the lock three times and drop in this." They took out a small chip like coin. "It'll turn into a shower for you if you need it, or atleast to just get some scented stuff over you, its not a good shower." Sam looked at the passenger as they offered the chip, it was going to be awhile before they reached London to leave him at the Ministry, and Sam didn't really care if they got in trouble for letting a kid who was abandoned in the sewers to tend to Bluecaps clean himself up or get money back. 19
Muggle London / Re: [April 2] A Triple-Decker, Violently Purple Kind of NightAugust 13, 2021, 05:39:41 PM Sam watched as the passenger, now known as Ambrose managed to wrestle control of the situation with the Bluecaps, locking them up with vines to ensure they stay trapped in place, it was certainly one way to get it done after all, they couldn't fault him for that method as much as they might want to. Although it did raise a little bit of concern incase the net did break in any way, Sam wasn't issued a creature catching net.
Sam gently took the passengers hand and shook it in return as they offered the hot chocolate they had paid for, they were getting very more interested in learning as to what they were even doing with so many of the creatures and also stinking of the sewer all around, sure there had been much worse guests on the bus before, but this was just interesting to Sam right now. "Nice to meet you, as said earlier. I am Sam." They said politely as they glanced at the bluecaps yet again, making sure they were holding. "Would you like a blanket to cover the caps for now? And why do you have so many?" Putting two and two together, Sam could only guess Ambrose worked on Level Four potentially. "Just being tossed the worst jobs possible and too difficult to apparate them all back with yourself?" Sam understood, they couldn't apparate at all, their test had ended up very badly and was a rushed trip to the infirmary afterwards, since then Sam has never tried again. 20
Muggle London / Re: [April 2] A Triple-Decker, Violently Purple Kind of NightJune 17, 2021, 06:06:48 PM Sam watched him count the money and nodded, putting it away, they wanted the hot chocolate it seemed, it was popular, and given the smell off him it made sense they might want something refreshing with it after all. Stepping back they watched the person get into the bus, they never actually gave their name but it didn't matter at all, as long as Sam got their address and Sam did their job.
Sam moved to the hot drinks station, it did seem fairly reckless to have a hot drink on a bus like this, they've amazed that the Knight Bus had only been sued 20 times in the past three years for burns suffered from the hot chocolate. Atleast none had been under their watch. Sam started pouring one as they heard the location....the Ministry might be a bit tricky but they can manage it. "We'll have to drop you off outside one of the entrances, the last time we tried to park inside the Ministry...um..." Sam probably shouldn't bring up that incident, they were lucky no one died and that the driver and Sam were the only ones on the bus at the time... "What's your name anywa-" Sam started to turn before there was a powerful lurch from the bus, the poor passenger was flung and their net was launched over at another passenger! That was not a good thing at all, magical creatures were risky on the bus if they got free, Sam didn't want a repeat of 1926 New York. "Watch out for your blue caps!" 21
Muggle London / Re: [April 2] A Triple-Decker, Violently Purple Kind of NightJune 03, 2021, 07:53:14 AM It had been a good evening tonight, not too busy but enough to keep it going at a steady pace, it was an incredibly fun night really for his job as it made it easy and time had gone quickly. His normal shift should end in an hour or so but he had booked in for the entire night, meaning he had...somewhere around 18 hours for the day once he was to get home, but that was later really.
He heard the bing meaning that they would be stopping soon... With a loud boom, the giant triple decker bus had stopped by the side of the road, in its enthusiasm the bus almost seemed to do a cartoonish lurch forwards with the back of it rising into the air before slamming down again onto the road. Sam stepped himself down from the back of the bus to deliver his line, he was paid to do so after all. "Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded Wix." He glanced towards the road they had come down and flashed his wand, extinguishing a small flame that the bus had caused on the road from the tyres. "My name is Sam Forester and I shall be your conductor for this evening. Tickets are Eleven Sickles, thirteen for hot chocolate included, fifteen for additional hot water bottle and toothbrush." No one ever went for the fifteen sickle option but he was obliged to mention it, if anything he might get a bonus for actually selling a toothbrush one day. He gave a soft smile towards the person who had hailed them, even if it smelt a bit like...a sewer...that might be a slight problem but they can get over that certainly, there had been much worse smelling people on the bus before. 22
Muggle Locations / Re: [Mar 3rd] At night I shiver and I tryJanuary 08, 2021, 10:01:50 AM They both said for Leaky Cauldron, let alone the fact that the bus can take them home, they wanted to go to the cauldron to then go home or to continue drinking, this felt alot more painful then it needed to be. But atleast he finally had a destination for it, and hoped that the girl was able to call for her house properly to get back without ending up somewhere weird, he'd heard rumours from people on the bus that the Floo wasn't that reliable anymore, it had meant the bus was busier, but still hopefully they made it back safely.
He gave a gentle swish of his wand to mark for the driver they were heading to the cauldron, holding onto the mug for her as the bus suddenly spun, swerving around in a 180 spin, front of the bus stayed in place as the rear of it whipped behind before, bending like rubber before retracting into a solid shape and bursting forwards as if nothing had happened. Despite the violent juddering Sam appeared completely still, leaning with the bus slightly before sighing. He hated that feeling, but it happened a fair amount he was getting used to it. And he managed to avoid spilling the drink for her! Which he promptly made to try handing to her, holding by the hot end so she can take by the handle. "There you go and-..." He noticed the other passenger pouring something and a mention of...hair of the dog? Did he have... "Is that...actual liquid dog hair?" He asked cautiously as he looked over it somewhat confused. Why would someone add that to their drink, especially a nice hot chocolate. Or was it a specific weird drink he's never heard of before? Wait no, is he a werewolf? Is that the potion they had to take? That would explain the leg... 23
Alohomocha / Re: [February 16th] Things that go bump in the coffee shop (Abigail Reid)January 02, 2021, 03:24:55 PM Wait wait wait. Invite? To the party or to a night out? He could handle one, he didn't think it would be best for him to randomly show up at someones party though, especially their birthday party! Done by their girlfriend and best friends! That didn't sound very good indeed, even if it was the girlfriend who invited him, it would be noisy, everyone knows eachother, he won't know how to interact, he'd just stand in the corner, he'll look creepy, they won't like him!
"Oh uh...I have a phone." He says softly as he quickly jots it down on a napkin. "I...maybe for pub one night. Not the party, if that is what you...meant by the invite. It would be weird and...casual pub thing would be better." He hoped he wasn't sounding too weird. Delicately he placed his cup onto the stack and nodded, getting up himself, he should continue job hunting, or go home, go home and curl up, that sounded good, he didn't have much money for anything else, just curl up and rest, or read something, or use the slimey pond that the landlord insists is a bath, he swears he's seen toads in it. "It was nice meeting you. And I do hope we can hang out again sometime." He said with a soft smile 24
Alohomocha / Re: [February 16th] Things that go bump in the coffee shop (Abigail Reid)December 25, 2020, 04:43:57 PM Quests and Thestrals? He doesn't think he has heard of it. Should he have? Was it a popular Wix game? Was he missing out? He didn't want to miss out, he may not be the most popular person but he didn't want to not know what was going on, he should try finding out about the game and reading up some...if it is a popular game that is an- Oh, that was a relief, it seems to be a magical version of a game, like Wizard Chess being normal chess just animated, that was relieving somewhat to hear that he wasn't completely out of touch with things, not that it would be difficult for him to fall out of touch...
He think's he knows what she means by not house elf elves. Tall sort of ones with pointed ears? Always extremely attractive and good looking, live in forests typically and are great archers? Aren't they? Is he thinking correctly? He wasn't sure about the random chance however, typically he'd prefer not to have the random chance to determine things, however he supposed for a game it made sense, although it was still a scary idea to use that sort of thing for determining, what if you liked it but lost a single coin flip and so you die? That was terrifying! "That sounds like a great party idea for him. I hope it goes well." He replied with a gentle smile, it sounded fun, especially if they all liked it. He wasn't sure what his idea of a party would be honestly, but if nothing else, the thought matters most, and the effort going into it would make anyone happy most likely. "I...don't know if I'm nerdy. But it sounds like a fun group." He took another sip of his drink and sighed. "I-if you would have me there anyway. I'm not sure if I know about those types of games, but if you need people to test...if you meant to invite me with that, that is..." 25
Muggle Locations / Re: [Mar 3rd] At night I shiver and I tryDecember 21, 2020, 10:12:39 AM Sam's mind was filled with white noise as he screamed internally. He didn't want to lose this job, but he really wasn't sure he could handle people this drunk, how do you get this drunk? How do you survive at this intoxication level. Were they even drunk? Were they just mad? Was everyone mad? Was he about to witness a grinning pink and purple cat fade away into nothing? Was it his unbirthday? He screamed internally, for he did not know.
As he took the money for the hot chocolate and looked at the girl. "He...he...isn't still in the bed right?" He needed to ask, for his own sanity. If he didn't ask, what would he be? Why was this happening. Why was he made to ask these questions? He needed the break of making hot chocolate. So he started to head to where the supplies were, he needed a break from the madness of the two. But the question struck him, he had asked several times for the address he wanted to go to, and now the man was asking what to do. He hoped the person didn't have some sort of important job you needed to keep a head for, as unless he was exceedingly inebriated, he had no clue how they would function. "If you give me your address...we can get you home." He replied in the most professional tone he could as he started to pour the hot milk into the mugs for the passengers. Making sure one of them had every extra option available as per her request of wanting the works. Even if it was simply some whipped cream and coco powder ontop, for some reason they weren't given Marshmallows, every time he has asked he was met with a thousand yard stare and 'the accident'. "If you really cannot get your home, we can drop you off at the Leaky Cauldron. Or..." He cut himself off, he didn't want to continue the or part, it was not something he felt he could manage right now really, although it may get him a pay rise for what he'll have to put up with. 26
Alohomocha / Re: [February 16th] Things that go bump in the coffee shop (Abigail Reid)December 13, 2020, 09:33:50 AM Sam nodded along gently, he wasn't so sure about how to meet some of them it seemed.
Fauna seemed like a somewhat safe bet to try to get into contact with at some point, so that was good for him. He didn't feel like it would be too likely to be remembered as he did hide away during the end of it all. But it was a chance at the very least, he just hoped it didn't seem weird if he sent an owl out of the blue. It would still require him to have the money first however to send one.. He took another sip of his drink and nodded along, the drink was good, she was not angry and being helpful. He was doing his best to calm down and he thinks he can manage that, so that was also good. "That would be good." He said softly, going out for drinks one night, if nothing else it would be something to do and if it went badly he can likely slip away quietly. "Drinks one night would be fun." He said with a small smile. "Oh only if they're...okay with it though. It might...be weird otherwise?" He could see it being weird, randomly inviting someone you met once at a coffee shop to go out for drinks with your friends. 27
Alohomocha / Re: [February 16th] Things that go bump in the coffee shop (Abigail Reid)November 28, 2020, 03:24:51 PM She knew Hufflepuffs! That was good!
Although he wasn't completely confident with the names that were given to him. He knew some obviously, well maybe not personally know them, but he had heard of some of them. So that was even better! He nervously shifted on the seat, before taking a sip of his drink. Fauna he believed he'd heard about quite often from Hogwarts, it was hard as a Hufflepuff to avoid hearing about SAWS and the troubles it brought up, not that he had a problem with them, but it was hard to ignore certainly. The rest he may have a harder time remembering, he'd never heard of Omari, it wasn't unlikely he hadn't heard of anyone as he wasn't the most outgoing person, but still. "Um..any you would recommend at all? I think that I now Fauna. Or...or well...maybe? Was she in SAWS?" He thought on the other names, he wasn't too sure with them, Gris was an odd name, wasn't it French for Grey? Why would someone be named that? Even among the Wix names he has heard. However that mixed with Tess struck some kind of bell, were they Quidditch players or something? It hadn't even been two years and he was struggling to recall Hogwarts people. "O-oh how is your drink?" He asked in some concern if it was alright after he had broken the initial one. 28
Muggle Locations / Re: [Mar 3rd] At night I shiver and I tryNovember 03, 2020, 03:31:37 PM Sam flinched as the man shouted, he didn't mean to, but suddenly getting shouted by a man with one leg would surely make anyone flinch he figured. It wasn't entirely a normal thing was it? Especially when they were still not giving an address to go to. Luckily they were working down a passenger list so they wouldn't be for some time but it would be good to set up regardless. He didn't want to be the one who had to wake up a sleeping drunk to ask for an address and get choked out, it could come out of his pay.
He turned to the woman first, who despite seeming a little tipsy herself seemed to be doing better. "Thirteen for both ticket and drink. We...don't have syrup or sprinkles though." Imagine if they did have sprinkles, getting them on would be a nightmare, the stops and turns spilling everywhere, he wondered when a no glitter policy might go into place, even magic cannot clean away glitter properly. The driver, Dobbs McCobbs burst out into another laughing fit as the bus would jolt stopped, the rear wheels gaining some air as it rocked forwards with the impact, the gentleness somewhere between a head on collision and finding yourself becoming intimate with a lamp post while distracted as you walk. Footsteps could be heard as a passenger descended the spiral staircase that makes the only vertical option for moving between the levels. "And sir I'll need another two sickles for your hot chocolate." He can make hot chocolates, he can handle them, they were simple. Drunk people were not simple, they were the opposites of hot chocolates. But making a hot chocolate may give enough time for him to come up with a better approach, as so far just getting the destination other then a vague statement was like trying to teach a dragon to tapdance, painful and is likely to end up on fire. Plus it might let them calm down or cool off a little. 29
Alohomocha / Re: [February 16th] Things that go bump in the coffee shop (Abigail Reid)November 03, 2020, 03:31:19 PM Sam slowly nodded along, it had been awhile, even before going around the world he had barely visited so its not like he knew the place well.
She was offering to help find people, that was rather good, she struck him as the type of person who a social butterfly, it was a weird term, but she seemed the type of person who could know almost everyone and get along with them all. So the fact she was offering really helped, but it begged the question of who to actually try to find. It wasn't like Sam knew many people in the first place, he knew a few from Hufflepuff maybe, so he guessed he can rattle off a few people perhaps, if it helped at all. "Uh, well...I didn't really talk to alot of people...I was in hufflepuff?" He worded it almost like a question, mostly as he wasn't sure if she would know many Hufflepuffs, but they always seemed to get themselves well known, they were kind and helpful people. "So I guess Hufflepuff's would be good...to find?" He looked down at the skirt he was wearing, he must of looked terrible, he knew it, after this he really needed to go home and get changed, if he was even going to go out again, the fear of potentially knocking someone elses coffee though terrified him. 30
Muggle Locations / Re: [Mar 3rd] At night I shiver and I tryOctober 24, 2020, 08:38:31 AM He was doing his best, he was, but the one drunken man was taking his leg off and before he'd noticed the bus stopped again and another customer had gotten on singing. The man wanted to go home, it was understandable, Sam wished he was home right now in his thin blanket all nice and cozy, or as cozy as he could be. But he couldn't do that if he wasn't given a location, or was this man more of the general variety, they don't mind where they drink, its just pub. The other customer was now asking about if the man's leg was real or if they had something else, Sam thought best not to comment on the policy of no drugs on the bus at the moment.
With the new passenger onboard the bus took to its speeds again with a sudden lurching, almost as if the bus had recoiled into itself before dashing off like some sort of cartoon, the driver bellowed out in a hysterical laugh as it swerved, causing several bins and lamp posts to bounce out of the way of the titanic public transport system as it went onto its maddening journey for the next stop. The faint cries of a spooked cat echoed out in the bus's wake as it too was only just bounced out of the way before any incident reports would of had to have been signed by the driver. "Sir I'm sorry b-" They asked about an Irish coffee, he didn't have any coffee from Ireland, they only had Hot Chocolate an- His heart skipped a beat slightly at the drunken customer guessing at his gender, a faint blush and smiling coming onto him as it hit him of what had happened. "I would need an address, and I'm sorry, we only have hot chocolate to serve." He said in his most professional tone possible while still going off the dopamine rush before turning to the other customer with an apologetic look towards them. "Hello, sorry, I'm Sam, your Conductor for this evening. Its eleven sickles for a ticket, thirteen for hot chocolate and fifteen for those, hot water bottle and toothbrush." He said softly as he shuffled a little to get out of the way of the two if she really was going to help the drunken man with his leg problems, it was better then himself doing it he reckoned as he didn't want to be responsible for if anything were to happen to the leg, he couldn't afford it in the slightest. |
