Henry nodded along, his eyebrows raising at the mention that they did have plans bring in animals as well. On top of the benefits to the potions department Henry couldn't help but think about the benefits having animals could have on their more 'permanent' patients. He had been in the business long enough to know that having a pet around could help even the most antisocial or sick Witch or Wizard. Before he could stop himself he produced a small rectangular card from inside his suit jacket and handed it to Sandy, "If you need any help with your animal department, contact my Son." When he had put the suit on that morning he was surprised to find a handful of old business cards he had from the days when he was still working at his father's company. Unsurprisingly though, the magical business cards no longer read Arathorn Wentworth but Xavier Wentworth, the new rightful owner of the company.
He took one last longing look at the greenhouse before following Sandy to the next destination, "Any plans to let patients in? I imagine it could cause a few risks given that they are in fact patients but having them around the plants, even some of the animals once they're here could help speed up the healing process." In the years before his own disappearance he had been trying to convince his Brother in Law to keep more plants in his home to help lift his spirits after becoming afflicted. Unfortunately the stubborn dog was rarely open to suggestions.

Ground Floor: Reception and Artifact Accidents / Re: [28th May] Whining Potions (OPEN)April 20, 2017, 10:38:23 AM Henry gratefully followed Sandy out of the main hall and farther into the Hospital. It was nice to get away from the crowd. He soaked up all the information Sandy had given him about the operation, "That's quite the undertaking. I imagine the expansions needed took some time." He couldn't help himself. He had spent the last few years as a Muggle carpenter. While he didn't do it as any real profession he had become the neighborhood's unofficial handyman. He knew that the work done in the Hospital was easy enough for those that could use magic but it was still impressive.
He stepped into the green house and smiled genuinely for the first time since he had arrived. It was perfect. It made him wonder why they hadn't done this earlier. Not only were they brewing their own potions in house but they were growing all their own ingredients to further prevent the amount of contamination that could occur. He turned back to Sandy, "What about animal based ingredients? Do you have a ranch within the Hospital now as well?" His tone was light, near joking. He didn't actually expect them to house animals in the Hospital itself but he couldn't help thinking of the problem a few years back when one of the major ingredient suppliers had tainted stock. 3
Ground Floor: Reception and Artifact Accidents / Re: [28th May] Whining Potions (OPEN)March 21, 2017, 08:35:43 AM Henry offered a somber smile and a nod to the older Wizard. He looked vaguely familiar but he couldn't place the family name (Unlike Malfoy whom he recognized the instant he walked in) Thankfully he had a bit of food in his mouth at the time and wasn't required to say anything further. He didn't know how many more condolences he could hear before saying something untoward. Henry never had a great love for his father and considering the old man had snapped his wand and disowned him simply for falling in love with a muggle (certainly it had nothing to do with the fact that he was already married and was walking out on a wife and child) he didn't have the nicest of things to say about his passing.
He swallowed and contemplated taking a sip of wine but thought better of it. The last sip had been met with a biting retort from the burgundy liquid, "Everything's doing swell all things considered." All things considered a single emotional response had put his entire life in turmoil. He could have kept himself hidden. Peacefully watch his children graduate and continue on with his comfortable muggle existence. However his emotions had taken hold and he was concerned about how all his sisters would take their father's sudden death. Outing himself as not actually dead was a foreseen consequence. What he hadn't expected was the reporters investigating his peaceful little life and discovering the two children only his father had known about. He placed down his now empty plate of hor d'oeuvres, "I would love a tour of the new department." He had a sister that was a Healer last he checked, it would be nice to know the Hospital she worked in was being well taken care of. Not to mention he probably should see what his son's money was going toward. He wasn't sure if Xavier would be expecting a report of how the benefit went. His youngest son suddenly had a lot on his plate but he suspected the brooding Slytherin would have no trouble handling it all. 4

heh, did we manage to come to a decision on who won the cup? We're in the months where it would start affecting the players in their other daily activities. 5
Ground Floor: Reception and Artifact Accidents / Re: [28th May] Whining Potions (OPEN)March 14, 2017, 09:28:00 AM Awkward wasn't the right word to convey how Henry felt as he entered the large room filled with fellow witches and wizards. He was dressed in his finest robes looking every bit the part of the gallionaire's son he had despised so much. His mother had always made these events look so effortless. His father had taken over after her death though he always imagined Arathorn had done so begrudgingly. Now he was gone as well and carrying on the family's philanthropists activities had fallen to him. Had it not been for his desire to made good with his son, he wouldn't have been caught dead at an event like this. The fake smiles, the eager elbow rubbing, the constant flaunting of social status was the entire reason he had left high society. Sure this was for a good cause, supporting St Mungo's was one of the best causes he could think to support but it was the attitudes behind it that he despised. Look how generous I am, look how thoughtful I am, look at how much of my endless wealth I'm putting into this super important cause that I totally support. Bollocks.
Henry glided through the room, smiling as he went. Pausing every so often as someone from one of the old families gave their condolences on his father's tragic end or offered how good it was to see he wasn't actually dead. Thankfully he was able to get to the refreshment table without much incident. A glass of wine and some hor d'ouvers allowed him to fill his mouth and avoid any more awkward conversation. He wondered how long he needed to stay. He supposed long enough to hand over a satchel of coins for the good cause then he could sneak off to the nearest pub for a proper pint. He knew coming back to the Wizarding world was going to be difficult but hadn't expected he'd be coming to back to the boring high society work like this benefit. 6
Correspondence / [May 20th] Cats in the CradleFebruary 08, 2017, 12:10:16 PM The Rustic looking owl stumbled as he reached the Slytherin table unsure of whether or not he was delivering his letter to the right recipient
Xavier Wentworth Slytherin Table Hogwarts Dear Son, I'm sure by now you're heard that I'm not as dead as you assumed I was. I apologize that you had to find out this way. I contemplated writing you before I left for London but I honestly wasn't sure what to write. Berkeley informed me that my father erased your memory of our last meeting. For once I actually agreed with him, it was all in your best interest. Forgetting such a . . . violent encounter. In any case it has given me a second chance to explain myself to you. Why I left, why I never came to see you. I don't believe you'll ever truly understand it all but you're a man now, Xavier, and I owe it to you. Usually Helena's mother picks her up from King's Cross at school's end. I was hoping you'd permit me to come this year, see you off graduation. I won't go as far as ask you to come visit me at mine, but perhaps a lunch or dinner would suffice? Sincerely, Your idiot Father 7

When it was discovered that he had left his Wife for his Mistress, his father snapped his wand and disowned him. Henry has chosen to live a more muggle life though on occasion has used his children's wands when absolutely necessary. Physical Description: Henry is in good physical shape for a man his age. He works mostly in his garden and has taken to carpentry, alongside his daily exercise routine he has kept himself fit. His features are dark and angular looking more like his mother's side of the family, though he inherited the arctic blue eyes that the Wentworth's are famous for. He prefers to keep stubble on his chin to soften his strong jaw line, while keeping his hair cut short. He indulges in muggle fashion, anything from male model to rough and tumble cowboy to rabid football fan. He never seems to stick to one particular style having spent so much of his life needing to play a part. He loves expressing himself through clothing more than anything else much to the chagrin of his girlfriend. Personality Description: To those that have only known Henry within the last few years, he appears to be a good natured, loving and happy go lucky guy. He dotes on his girlfriend and daughter alike and has always been supportive of his son. He's friendly with his neighbours and gets on well with his girlfriend's co-workers. While he's not the 'life of the party' sort he's always a joy to have around. Those that have known him longer or more personally know that there's much more underneath. Henry was born in the lap of luxury and does have a few lingering traits from his upbringing. He tends to be selfish and doesn't handle not getting his way well. Although he rarely if ever talks about his youth, as if he only came into existence as a full fledged adult. Henry has a deep seeded hatred for wealth and privilege. Despite coming from both. He's often rude or dismissive of anyone that comes from such roots viewing those of privilege as spoiled elites. A nasty side that is rarely seen as he tends not to keep that sort of company. History: Henry is the first son but seventh child born to Arathorn and Esmerelda Wentworth. Given his family's vast wealth he was given every thing he wanted as a child while he was raised by Nannies and Tutors alike. It was impressed upon his at a very early age that he had a great responsibility being the only male Wentworth of his generation. As a child he was close with his Nephew Jameson who was only four years younger than him and often made mischief for anyone that took care of them. His sisters were all being groomed to be high society debutantes while Jameson was given a certain freedom Henry was not allowed. Henry always knew that he'd have to follow in his father's footsteps, eventually running the family business. He spent as much time as he could with his younger Nephews as they gave him a sense of self his Nannies and Tutors didn't encourage. During his Hogwart years, he further came into himself as he examined what it meant to be Pureblood in an increasingly modern world. He rarely spoke of his family despite being surrounded by many relatives in the large castle. He joined the Quidditch Team in his second year and became a Prefect in his fifth year. Also in his fifth year he took a liking to a rebellious little Slytherin named Athalia Tawse. He liked her fighting spirit and found himself taken with her views on life. She wasn't a traditionalist like his father though he didn't see her for an extremist like her brother. She had somehow fallen in the middle. However she was quite a ways younger than him. The pair spent time together but nothing really came of it given their age difference. Although he only felt like his true self while he was at school he humored his father by attending business meetings while on his holidays. He was to be given one of the company's many shops to manage once he had graduated and his father felt it pertinent that he knew how to run the business. During one such trip while on Winter Holidays in his final year, Henry met a young muggle girl named Angelina. The two hit it off. She was beautiful and kind and everything Athalia wasn't. Henry found her refreshing and surprisingly freeing. Everyone back home had been going on and on about the famous Harry Potter finally coming back to the wizarding world. Henry was happy to finally talk to someone who had no idea who he was. The two had become closer than Henry had ever been with anyone else but their romance was short lived and by the time he had returned to school he had forgotten all about it. After all it had only been a fling and with a muggle no less. After Henry came back from Holidays Athalia made her feelings known. He had always been intrigued by the younger girl but never thought of her romantically. He didn't outright reject her affections but he didn't exactly think she was old enough for him. He was graduating and she was only finishing her fourth year at Hogwarts. Without his knowledge though, Athalia told her friends that they had become a couple. After Henry graduated he spent most of his Summer with the girl and the two had become physical. Something Henry soon regretted. As Athalia went back to school, he called things off. As promised Henry was given control over his own shop, selling magical pets to happy customers and for a while he was happy. No longer under his father's constant gaze he was able to do things his own way and he flourished. However Henry's life was turned upside down September 1992 when he was tracked down by Angelina McCormick, the girl he had a fling with during his Winter holidays. She had only been visiting family when they met in Australia and actually lived in London. However given the fact that Henry was a Pureblood Wizard he wasn't exactly in the directory. He had been ready to dismiss the girl when she dropped a bomb on him. The baby she had brought with her was his son. Henry's love for his son was shocking and near instant. He begged Angelina not to tell anyone and he used his family's wealth to buy her a house in a small countryside village. He stayed with her as much as he could the first year. He explained everything he could about the Wizarding World and the kind of upbringing he had been given. Just as it had been while he was on holiday with her, being with Angie was refreshing and freeing. He found himself looking forward to the weekends he spent with her and his son Peyton. Henry received regular Owls from Athalia, it was obvious the girl was still in love with him. Henry was kind and gentle in his letters, always hinting that once she was older they could try again. Afterall Athalia was a Pureblood, the kind of girl his father would be thrilled about him dating. As much as he loved Angie he knew his parents wouldn't approve of her. During the Winter Holidays that year Athalia confessed that she was pregnant as well and would be giving birth just short of the end of the year. Torn between two women and two children Henry found himself lost and confused and seeking answers. He didn't know who else to turn to and confided in his parents. Henry felt as if his world was crashing down around him. Arathorn made arrangements for a Spring Wedding, marrying him to Athalia so the poor girl didn't have to bear the shame of having his child out of wedlock. The ceremony was small, only containing his parents and Athalia's mother. Afterwards they let leak that the girl had contracted Spattergroit, explaining her absence from school as she gave birth to her son. She returned the following Autumn to complete her final two years at Hogwarts while Henry took care of their son (though he was mostly raised by the regular array of Nannies and Tutors and Athalia's Aunt). As he feared his father strongly disapproved of his relationship with Angie. Had it not been for his eldest son, Henry suspected his father would have forbidden him from ever seeing her again. She and her child were still well taken care of but Henry had to be sneakier about spending time with them. He didn't want anyone to find out about them, especially Athalia's family, given their thoughts about Muggles and Halfbloods. He also didn't want to cause a big scandal for his father so soon after his company had gone international. When Athalia finally graduated, the pair had a large public Wedding, with only the most important guests attending. Their son was absent from the spectacle, they didn't need a toddler running around inciting whispers of a scandal. He was kept out of the public eye for a few more years until they were sure no one would want to bother doing the math anymore. For many years Henry lived his life torn between two lives. He loved both women and both of his sons but there was no mistaking that he was more true to himself when he was with Angie. She brought out all the best things in him and had even given him another child. Athalia was a good wife and a loving mother but her views on the world and how muggles and halfbloods should be treated waned on him. He watched one son be raised amoungst loving neighbours while the other was raised not unlike Henry himself. The influence of his Father and Athalia's Aunt was poisonous and Henry found himself resenting his own child. By the time Xavier was seven and poised to become the next Wentworth Legacy Henry had given up. He had gone into work that day but never came home. He had simply walked out. His employees had no idea where he had gone. His wife didn't know where to look for him and he soon became a missing person. His father knew exactly where to find him and when Arathorn had confronted him, the two had a heated arguement. Henry refused to go back and Arathorn snapped his wand, disowning him as his son and denouncing him as a wizard. Arathorn returned to the Wizarding world and let everyone else think that his son was still missing. The case eventually went from missing person to presumed dead. While his Wizarding life lay in ruins Henry found true happiness. He moved in permanently with Angie and their children - their daughter approaching her fifth birthday. Angelina got a job as a baker in the village and Henry stayed home with the children. He had no real skills in the muggle world and had to be taught how to do many simple things most children knew how to do. By the time both children were in school he had become a rather skilled carpenter though he didn't make a business of it. He preferred to help neighbours with their Home Improvement projects instead. Henry developed a close relationship with both Peyton and Helena, supporting all their endeavours, especially Peyton's love for Quidditch. While he never returned to the Wizarding World as himself, he did visit Diagon every Summer to collect school supplies and Hogsmeade every Winter Holiday for the Festival. In 2008 during one such trip to Hogsmeade Henry found himself face to face with the son he had abandoned. He did not handle the confrontation well and ended up admitting that he had chosen Peyton over Xavier. A few months later he got a visit from his father for the first time since he had 'run away'. Apparently his son was missing and Arathorn seemed to be the only person interested in finding him. Henry had nothing to give his father but did tell him about the confrontation between the two. Not long after Henry received a letter from his niece Berkeley. Henry discovered that she had become involved when concerned citizens contacted the Magical Law Enforcement over the scuffle his sons had in Hogsmeade. She informed him that Xavier had been found and was being cared for by Arathorn. She also let him know that there was a great likeliness that Arathorn would alter Xavier memories. Henry approved. He already had one son that didn't want to speak with him he didn't need to worry about the second. He also advised his niece not to tell anyone else in their family that he was still alive. He doubted his sisters cared anymore, none of them had been close to begin with but it was still better to be dead than a public disgrace. His relationship with Peyton became strained afterwards. He was eager to forget the encounter had ever happened. He had a feeling his son saw him in a different light now but did his best to make things right. While they never outright spoke about what had happened Henry became even more involved in Peyton's life, giving him anything he needed and being the most supportive parent he could be. With his father's death, Henry has decided it's time to reconcile with his other son. He has no interest in his family's fortune and the company but he doesn't think all that responsibility needs to lie on an Eighteen year old's shoulders. Describe your job duties and how you go about them: Henry is a homemaker. He lives in a muggle village with a Muggle girlfriend but has no skills to hold a muggle job - not to mention he legally doesn't exist as far as the Muggle world is concerned. He's a skilled carpenter and helps with odd jobs around the neighbourhood. Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Writing Sample: Sum up your character in one paragraph: The first and only son born to Esmeralda and Arathorn, Henry was set to inherit everything his father owned. Although he had plenty of nephews and uncles, everything rested on his shoulders, a fate he had once wholly embraced. Unlike his sisters, Henry was not assigned a wife and was allowed to take one of his choosing. Thankfully he had chosen a well respected Pureblood girl, one his parents had approved of. While he waited for her to graduate he traveled with his father helping with the family business. While abroad he had an affair with a muggle girl who would later become pregnant. Although he married his Hogwarts sweetheart Henry lived two lives, split between two families. The more time he spent with his muggle Mistress and children the less he cared for his legacy. One day he finally left without a word. His father covered up his disappearance, allowing the world to think he had died while he lived in peace with his Mistress. With his father's recent death Henry has chosen to return to the Wizarding World to help his Wayward son find his way. |
