This was like being back at school. Andromeda clearly remembered Snape's potion lab in the dungeon. She would have enjoyed potions more if Lix had taught it. For one she was prettier. Two less greasy. Andie handed over the bottle.
"Yes. Paid enough for genuine. If it is fake what is it?" She did not want people drinking strange potions that made them more aggressive come full moon. She folded her arms. "What was this dead drop thing you mention?" Andie asked Tara. Now they would not be easily overheard.

Pop! Pop!

Andromeda and Tara apparated to St Mungo's. The reception was always busy. They did not wait in line. They knew where to go. As they climbed the stairs Andromeda's face changed back. And her hair to black. She looked like she normally did again. Apart from her clothes. She would change them later.

They passed a wizard covered in what looked like pink chewing gum. Head to toe. He was trying to peel his feet off the floor and you could only see one of his eyes. Andromeda exchanged looks with Tara and headed on.

Andromeda lifted her cloak. Revealing she had something hidden beneath. It was the wolfsbane dose.
"Argued about the price more." Said Andromeda. "It is a good thing we only need one dose to test." She put her cloak back. "They took ten galleons. To guarantee the second dose tomorrow." Andromeda frowned. She had not changed her appearance back yet. Careful. If anyone here knew Tara and knew Tara was a werewolf then it would just look like two werewolf witches talking. "Thanks for watching me. I should get it to St Mungo's. You want to come?" Andromeda did not need guarding to go to a hospital. "I owled ahead. Lix is expecting it." They were all friends.

Auror Gamp would not go to the White Wyvern pub on Knockturn by choice. It had sticky floors. Wonky tables. A lingering smell of dog. Stale pipe smoke hung like fog. She was not in uniform. Not herself. Younger. She had short mucky brown hair. Green eyes. Grey cloak. Freckles. Deep shadows under her eyes. Gaunt.

It was early Friday evening. The sun would be high in the sky for hours yet. But the moon was fattening every night. Andromeda's persona was fearful. Desperate. She looked about the pub. She had to meet someone. He had to be here.

Andromeda knew exactly who they were looking for. But she had to pretend to be unsure. A stranger here. She was not alone. But only one witch knew that. Andromeda was not going to look for Tara. They were under cover. She trusted Tara to watch her back.

"Lookin' for Buckles." She asked the hag like witch behind the bar. She twitched what was left of her fingers in the direction of a nearby table. The greasy haired girl nodded thanks. Approached the wizard she knew well to be Buckleby. They had watched his comings and goings.

"Buckles?" Andromeda asked. "Garvie said you could set me up." She fumbled a coin purse from out under the cloak. "For the moon. Right?" The sight of shiny galleons caught the wizard's attention. He gave the instruction on when and where to meet for the goods.

"Maybe." Andromeda said. Smirked. "But my mouth's a little dry." Another round would give her time to think of a story to top fiendfyre. "Same again." She slid her glass over.

"Yes. Agree." Said Andie. "But I like your hair." She reached a hand out. Like she was going to touch it. Like only a good friend would. "Do not got bald. What is the story?" Everyone liked a good story. Aurors and Hitwizards had the best. Healers could too. But they were secretive. Private. Gruesome.

A punch was a unique birthday present. Birthday bumps maybe!

"Unlucky." Said Andie. "She has a lot to learn." Hericho was a good learner. Not always enthusiastic. But she got there. Tara would be a good teacher. Traumatizing or make the trainee up her game. Andie hoped it would be the second.

"Make sure you throttle her." Suggested Andie. "I threw a wizard over my shoulder in the field once." Andie was one of the shortest aurors. "Learned it from Fenny. Hitwizard." She said for Lix. "He going to retire when they send Musgrave to Azkaban?" Hitwizards did not have long careers. They got killed. Injured. Or changed careers if they wanted to live longer.  "He's the bald guy who guards him. You maybe seen him." To Lix again.

"You know. I think she did." Said Andromeda. "You know a girl can get a penis without a man these days." She looked dead serious. "Man optional." She was winding Tara up. A little. Maybe. "Eh not my thing Tara. Sorry chick." Andromeda shook her head. Everyone was curious about being a metamorphmagus. Only adults wanted to know if she could change what was in her pants though. Eye-roll. Mind their own business.

"Have you been invited to Hericho's birthday?" Said Andromeda to Tara. Changing the subject. "I took her out on a job yesterday. Higgins thought he had been burgled." She added to Lix. "The floo guy."

"The grown up ones maybe." Said Andromeda. "The gap between early and late twenties has never felt greater." Ambrose's cousin Theta was pretty. That would be why Ed Pratt liked her. Witch Weekly trying to hook him up with a younger model. But Pratt was not here. Andie did not want to embarrass Theta Pepper by asking about him. "But the food will be done before they get back. Get it while it is hot." Andromeda gestured to them both. Waved her wand. Assembled a hot dog. Sausage. Bun. Relish. Eat this. Give her birthday blessings to Hericho. Bottle of Death & Co's finest wrapped up.

"Who is to say we have not already?" Said Andromeda. Straight face. Elixa talked about her sex life and desires as much as she went on nights out. She broke when she saw Tara's face. "If only getting someone off was the solution to everything." Said Andromeda. "I know it is for you." She looked at Lix. "Next time I have to talk to Kuester about something serious I am going to owl you. Make sure you give her a good time. Put her in a good mood for me." She drank deep. "Maybe I prefer to look out of the office." Said Andie. "But it is mostly what I see."

Tara thought Virgil Carstairs was questionable. Elixa thought she should let Cepheus make his own mistakes. Andie did not want to think about it all night. Tara had bigger stuff on her mind. Her werewolf transformation. The full moon was nearly there. Andie's cousin Tia also had the curse. They had been busy converting the cellar of the Gamp house at Godric's Hollow. From mysteries hell hole to safe room.

"Waiting for the inspection." Said Andie. "Takes a long time for someone to come out. Then they pick fault. Delay another moon cycle. Meanwhile word is the Ministry ones do not get a proper inspection." She hunched her shoulders. Not really keen to bad mouth another team. Who were very busy. Frustrated for Tia.

"I marched him out the lift." Said Andromeda. "By the elbow. Then suggested he had some sick interest in our family. Not sick. I cannot remember the exact word I used."

Andromeda pressed her palm into her forehead. Slid her fingers into her dark hair. Pulled. She uncharacteristically drooped over the table. Both arms of her leather jacket resting on the sticky wood. Hand clawed round her glass. She was describing what happened on her way out of the office. How she had dragged her brother's new boyfriend into Transport. Grilled him. Brought up their age gap. All the stupid things the papers said about Gamps.

"If I was a brother and Ceph was my sister it would be normal right? Maybe it is because of what our parents did. Hex me. Now he thinks I am a dick." Andromeda sighed. Deflated. Drank deep.

"Fuck. I am doom and gloom. Thank you for listening." Raised her glass. "Who else could I rely on to drink on a Tuesday with me? What is going on for you?"
