Asher wasn't fazed at all by the look she gave him when he asked about the specialty ingredients. He couldn't help it. Even though he had been forced to learn about potion ingredients by his parents when he was younger, he truly found the subject and all that went with it utterly fascinating. "That's fine with me." he said in her response that it was a need-to-know basis. He followed her back up the stairs, still taking in everything in the store so much that he almost ran into her, he had been following too close. "Apologies." he said and took the paper she was holding with a sheepish smile. "I'll see you Monday then." he told her and then made his way slowly out of the store, still looking at everything on his way out. Maybe if he was lucky, this job would open some doors for him in the future. [1]

"I would get something adorable and fluffy, but as I've got four sisters and only one of them appreciate adorable and fluffy things, I'm not sure that's the way to go, " he paused and looked towards a few cats he had seen earlier, "although, I could send them two presents, one for the cute factor, and one that the other three siblings would enjoy..." he trailed off as he realized he hadn't seen his sisters in too long, he didn't know what they liked anymore. "Good luck on the field work mate." he said as a later thought. [1]

Asher barely heard her say to watch his head in time and ducked right before smacking his head on something. His eyes were too busy taking in everything. He'd never actually been in here, all his ingredients for school were bought for him by his mother and father when they went shopping for his supplies. The only time he had been in the Alley was to get fitted for new robes and when he got his wand. All the other times, he stayed home with his four younger sisters because his parents were too cheap to find someone else to watch them when they had a perfectly good babysitter in the girls' elder brother.
Briefly his mind turned to whether or not his sisters had won the fight with their mother on which school they would be attending, but his mind quickly raced back to where he was when he heard her say, 'Specialty'. His eyes got big and he asked before he could stop himself, "What kind of specialty ingredients? Are they rare? Can I see them? Would I ever work with those items?" he rushed out and then took a breath.
That really wasn't the kind of behavior one had when trying to procure employment, but there was a special place in Asher's heart for potion ingredients. It was the one class he had excelled in and the main focus of any career he may choose to have in the future. He was like a kid in a candy store.

Asher was so engrossed in looking at the animals that he almost didn't hear the person talking to him. He turned from the cage of something he didn't know the name of, but it was bright pink and sounded like it was gargling. "Okay I guess, I'm not too sure what I'd like to do now.. never really had the inclination to do much of anything. How's life for you?"
He hadn't really talked to anyone from school since graduation, he was still trying to figure out what to do with his own life and didn't want to get mixed up in anyone else's at the moment, but he still liked to have a social life, and he could hold a conversation.
"No owl for me, not yet anyway." he gestured around the store, "I'm looking for something soft, fluffy, and adorable for my kid sister's birthday that's coming up." He rolled his eyes at the thought of still trying to find something for her, "No luck yet though."

Asher was just in awe of everything she was showing him. Truthfully, he'd only ever been in here once and that was to follow his mother in when she needed something special. He hadn't known what she had wanted, but then again, he hadn't cared really. Now that he was going to be working here, he was paying attention to everything.
His eyes roamed over the stacks of cauldrons and onto everything else she was showing him. His fingers itched to look through all the jars and see how many of the things in there he could actually name, but he kept his impulse under control as she continued to show him around the bottom floor of the shop.
"This is awesome." he muttered under his breath. Well, at least he thought it was under his breath, when in reality he had said it out loud. Working in a place like this was going to be wonderful. Surrounded by all these ingredients all day, every day... well maybe, he was just going to enjoy himself.

"No, I'm not familiar with that kind of machine, but I'm a quick learner." Asher was quick to let her know. He was actually beginning to look forward to having a job, something to fill his days instead of listening to the wireless or skulking around Diagon Alley. It was beginning to be slightly monotonous. But if he didn't get this job, he'd have to move home, deal with his mom and his sisters and there would be no peace at all.
"And I was a whiz at potions in school, so I'm familiar with most potion ingredients."

You can Apparate, I hope?"
He heard her ask and he fought back the urge to laugh. As if he would of dared to graduate without knowing that skill. "Yes ma'am, I can Apparate fairly well. And as for the time you need, I'm not really in high demand right now, so you will probably tire of seeing me around your shop."
It was a poor attempt at a joke, in all reality, he had nothing better to do. Other than a few days he might have one or two of his kid sisters with him, there was really nothing pressing he needed to do. "I'm here for whatever you need, if I get the job."

He looked up to see the woman standing on the balcony and said, "I'm seventeen." He honestly didn't have a clue what the job was he was asking about, he was just heading off his parents cutting off his money supply. Sure he had his own vault at Gringotts now, they had set it up for him when he turned 11, but it was still under his parents' name until he got a job, then it would become his own.
He knew that he couldn't live off his parents's money forever. He also didn't fancy doing nothing except spending said money, he could and would earn his own way if it killed him and what better way than to get a meaningless job. Or not meaningless. Like he thought, he didn't really know what kind of job this was.

Asher had been wandering through Diagon Alley for a bit now and he'd seen the fliers posted. The first one he saw, he brushed it off, saying to himself that his parents hadn't cut him off yet. The second one he saw he knew that it might be sooner than he wanted that his mother convinced his father to tell him to get a job.
He shrugged and made his way to the Apothecary and headed inside. He'd never actually been in here, his mother and sisters doing most of the shopping whenever they needed something. "Hello," he called out, not seeing anyone at first. "I'm here about the flier I saw."
He was dressed like a normal teenager, so in the back of his mind he thought he might of dressed a bit better, but oh well. He was here now. Too late to leave and come back.

The door opened with almost no sound as Asher walked into the Magical Menagerie. He was looking for a present for his kid sister, which wasn't going to go over well, since he had four of them. Maybe he'd find a dog that had three siblings, or a kneazle. He wasn't sure, so he began to peruse the animals with a purpose.
He knew that anything he brought to his parents' home wasn't going to go over well. His parents didn't like animals, so this was one thing he knew was going to make them mad. He didn't really care though. His parents had made it perfectly clear that since 3 of his four sisters wanted to go to Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons it was all his fault. That was his mum though, she was born and raised in France, so naturally wanted his sisters to go there.
He paused in front of a tank of yellow and green striped lizards and thought about it before shaking his head. None of his sisters would enjoy those. They were fond of small and fluffy things. Maybe he should just go to a muggle pet store and buy them a rabbit. He kept looking. Snakes, more lizards, and all kinds of things that were not fluffly were where he was so he turned around the corner.
Maybe he could ask for help.

Asher thought about it for a moment, "I've not really thought about it to be honest. I want to do something close to home to be nearer my family, but then again it might be nice to get out and go see the world." He looked down and scuffed his shoe against the courtyard floor, "I did promise my little sisters I would come home, but I don't know.." he trailed off, momentarily thinking of the four sisters he had at home.
"I kind of wish they were over already, but then that means I'd have to have a plan." He shrugged. "I don't think I'm ready yet."

Asher sat in an armchair not too far from the fire, a Potions book open in his lap and a bored expression on his face. He barely registered the request for someone to get the fire going again and only noticed the fifth year starting the fire back up because he was close to the fireplace. "Hey, warn someone would ya." he said in a tired voice.
He'd been going over his Potions text for the fifth time because it was by far the subject he was most worried about passing. He'd done okay during the OWL's, but this was going to be far worse in his opinion and he wasn't looking forward to it. Shifting from his slouched position to sitting up he shut his book and stretched. He'd been sitting in the same position for the last hour.
Digging around in the bag by his feet he came up with what he was looking for and shoved his book in the bag as he pulled the deck of cards out. He wasn't too sure if anyone would want to play cards, but maybe if he moved to a table and started shuffling them, someone would take interest.
He stood up, picked up his bag and moved to a table to do just that. Carelessly dropping his bag by one of the chairs, he sat down and took the cards out of the box and began to shuffle them.

So, I'm planning something disastrous for Asher's nice little life. I want it to happen after graduation and I'm not sure what, but I'd like something to happen within his family where he unexpectedly becomes guardian to his two younger sisters. He has four, but this something that happens has whoever has custody of the four girls will decide that they can't handle all of them.
The eldest two are going to Beauxbatons, where their mother went. I am looking for ideas for something disastrous. Although help is always appreciated. All ideas will be thought about... I just don't know what I want to happen to him. I need Asher to be a bigger character for me, he's always in the background...
His sisters are Eloise who is 12 and already at Beauxbatons, Adeline who is 10 and already received her acceptance to the French school - where their mother went, Juliette who is 9, and Brianne who is 8.
Like I said, any ideas are welcome.

Asher thought for a moment about the question that was asked, "I guess I'm a little worried about all of them in general. But I'm not sure I will ace my Potions exam. Good marks have eluded me always in that class." He shifted his weight from one foot to the other and went back to watching the dog. "What about you?"
In the back of his head, Asher wondered why talking to others was most often hard for him. He had a large family, so that wasn't the problem. He just never got the social part of Hogwarts. He came to take classes, get good marks and be hopefully able to get a decent job after Hogwarts so he could take care of his sisters if something should happen to his parents. He really wanted to help the two sisters who wanted to go to Hogwarts, but he knew that his mother wouldn't dare let two of her darling girls go anywhere but Beauxbatons.
"I'm just ready for them to be over already." he said, anxiousness creeping into his voice.
