As Sky took all the information Figaro gave her in, she was torn between regretting coming into the building in the first place, and actually thinking she might like it here. But then again, this was more of an impulse coming in the first place, she hadn't really thought out the details.
"Okay, so I know what those guys do." she began and she turned to him, setting the cup of coffee down by the coffeepot, "What is it exactly that you do here?" she asked with a smile. From some of the comments she'd heard from the other people who walked by, she assumed it wasn't anything glamorous.

Daily Prophet Headquarters / Re: [March 9th] Is A Job At The Prophet Right For Me? [OPEN]May 12, 2020, 12:52:57 PM Sky laughed at his conclusion, "Something like that. I like that I have money to fall back on, but I want to earn a living, not just use it like my brother does." She paused, "I mean, he does make some money with his paintings some times, but not often."
She turned around to face where Figaro was, "Coffee sounds good, you have milk and sugar?" She asked him as she watched him pour coffee into a mug that professed loving a grandma. "I like alright, I think I like more sugar than coffee, but it's alright." 3
Daily Prophet Headquarters / Re: [March 9th]Is A Job At The Prophet Right For Me?[OPEN]May 08, 2020, 09:34:59 PM Sky followed Figaro through the double doors and just paused. She was awestruck by the bustle of activity in the bullpen. People were everywhere and no one seemed to be slowing down. She was so busy looking around that she didn't move from the doorway for a moment, that is until she noticed that Figaro had moved over to an area with mismatched chairs and a few rickety tables.
Walking quickly over to where he was, she heard him ask her how she didn't need money. Sky thought about it for a moment, "Well, my parents, while not well off, owned a respectable Bed and Breakfast and make quite a bit of money." She took a deep breath, "Since they day we were two years old, they've been putting money aside for me and Shade. Last time I asked the goblins how long they thought my trust vault would last, they laughed." Sky sat down on one of the chairs and laughed as she thought about her brother. "Evidently, my brother thought that I couldn't handle things on my own, so he made some investments when he was 16 and has been putting money into my vault. So, the goblins laughed at me because I am set for at least 10 years." She looked around the room, "But I don't want to rely on my parents... or my brother... I want to make my own money." 4
Daily Prophet Headquarters / Re: [March 9th]Is A Job At The Prophet Right For Me?[OPEN]May 06, 2020, 09:14:25 PM Sky ignored the receptionist because, honestly the muttering was getting on her nerves.
"Well Sellaphix, I don't need the money and I have nothing else to do." She had been sitting in her flat and had read every book again. "I need something to do to pass the time, and honestly I have no other idea." She laughed a little when Figaro asked the receptionist who was going to fire him. It seemed that he had grown in age, but not personality since school. "I'd like that, I mean, if you have the time." Sky responded to him. 5
Daily Prophet Headquarters / Re: [March 9th]Is A Job At The Prophet Right For Me?[OPEN]May 06, 2020, 02:21:58 PM Sky was in the middle of rolling her eyes at the receptionist when she heard her name called. Turning around, she saw an old classmate from school. "Figaro, is that you?" She focused on him, "I came in here to look for work. I'm bored just sitting around looking at my four walls."
Placing her hands in her pockets she said, "What are you doing here?" She asked him. Truthfully, while they weren't exactly friends in school, they did run across each other sometimes. The things she remembered the most of him was that he liked pranks and Quidditch. Her twin Shade had more interest in Quidditch than her, but she still followed it a little. 6
Daily Prophet Headquarters / [March 9th] Is A Job At The Prophet Right For Me? [OPEN]May 02, 2020, 01:49:10 PM After eating a late lunch at the Leaky Cauldron, Sky walked through the Alley with nothing really determining where she was going. She hadn't had really anything to do since her brother Shade was always off on his new motorcycle, travelling around to find new things to paint or draw. She was rather bored.
Just as she was about to pass the Daily Prophet office, she made a split decision and walked in and made her way to the reception desk. While she waited for the receptionist to notice her, Sky looked around. The entryway she was in was really fancy, and for a small moment she felt like she didn't belong in the place. But she steeled herself and waited. When the receptionist finally noticed her and asked what she was doing there, Sky simply said, "I'm looking for work, would anyone here be hiring?" She paused, "I need to do something to fill my days since I'm not having to watch out for my brother anymore." she said with a smile. 7
Muggle London / Re: [August 19th]Along the Bridle Path[Sasha]January 29, 2018, 01:00:49 PM Sky was listening intently to Sasha talk and added a bit to what he was saying, "I suppose it would be cheating to use magic."
She was kind of lost in thought after that. She was still listening to him talk, but her mind was back on horses, especially the one that was walking along the path with them. He really was a magnificent animal. She only wished she'd stuck with riding when she was younger. It was definitely something she wanted to get back in to, now that she was back in London. ""What are you doing these days, anyway? His question brought her out of her mind and back into the conversation. She smiled a bit as she looked at him, "Mostly bugging my brother, I'm currently residing on his couch at the moment. I'm looking to reconnect with old friends, find a job, start a hobby... nothing much right now, but I'm working on it. It would help if there were any single boys left in London..." she trailed off, instantly regretting bringing that up. 8
Fortescue's / Re: [Aug 21] Sweet Summer Skies [Sky]January 29, 2018, 12:55:50 PM "That's quite a tale, although, I believe most of the stuff about my brother and artwork. He's always had a knack for drawing things." She sat still for a moment while thinking about her brother and his penchant for all things artistic. Then her mind caught up with the fact that Theta mentioned a flying car company. "Do they make motorcycles?" she asked.
She played with her water glass as she elaborated on her question, "I only ask because I remember in one of Shade's letters that he was looking to design a motorcycle. Did he go through with it?" Sky figured Theta would know more than she did about anything that happened with her father's company. 9
Muggle London / Re: [August 19th]Along the Bridle Path[Sasha]December 31, 2017, 10:46:20 PM Sky almost breathed a sigh of relief when the rider dismounted his horse. Her neck was starting to burn a little from looking up at him while they were talking. So she was extremely glad when he was down on her level. "A wizarding riding school. That would be something interesting. Would there be magical ones, or would you have witches and wizards riding regular old muggle horses." she asked with a bit of a smile.
He gestured for her to begin walking and she did, not sure where this path would lead, but sometimes that was the point. "I've always had a thing for horses, except for that little bit after I fell. I just hid it well. My parents would of bought me a horse, but I was one of those kids who never stayed with something for long and even I know you have to keep working with an animal like that." she fell silent, wondering what would of happened if her parents had gifted her with a horse. Would she have turned out different than she had... 10
Muggle London / Re: [August 19th]Along the Bridle Path[Sasha]December 27, 2017, 07:01:16 PM "I'm really interested in riding again. I have an owl, don't have much use for a muggle phone... not many muggle friends." She didn't mention anything about the friends she left behind in Australia, she had set up a muggle post box to receive letters that would then be routed to her through owl post.
She looked down at the horse and said, "I'd like to continue talking with you about that, but it's getting kind of hard to look at you and talk. I wonder if you'd mind walking with me, instead of sitting there. It serves two purposes, we still get to talk and your horse is still getting some sort of exercise." She said with a small smile. 11
Fortescue's / Re: [Aug 21] Sweet Summer Skies [Sky]December 27, 2017, 12:32:50 PM The idea of sitting in the Ministry for lunch and 'people-watching' was intriguing, "I'll take you up on the offer for lunch." Sky told Theta as the ice cream vanished. "I need to get back into the swing of things here since I've been gone." She turned a bit on her stool until she was facing directly at her friend, "What do you mean about my brother?"
She didn't really care who her brother hung out with as long as they didn't hurt him. He had such a soft heart and cared way too much about people that she had to watch out for him sometimes. He trusted way too easily as well. "Wait, he's hanging out with your dad? That's news to me, he didn't tell me that in any of his letters." She paused and looked at Theta, "Why's he hanging with your dad and not you?" Sky knew nothing about her brother's continued friendship with Monty Pepper, other than the time he told her that he was thinking of talking to the man about his art, she didn't know that he'd went and bought a motorcycle. Shade kept that secret. 12
Fortescue's / Re: [Aug 21] Sweet Summer Skies [Sky]December 23, 2017, 04:54:28 PM "Sorry about the bloke, tough luck." she said and then began to think about what she did while travelling that would be worth mentioning to her friend. "And I didn't want to come home, but I felt that I needed to spend some time with my brother, so I came home for a while."
"Sadly, all the gorgeous Australian boys are still in Australia, the airport wouldn't let me put them in the cargo hold." Sky laughed, she had crushed on a couple boys, but the girls that she had made friends with were with those boys, so she just held her feelings back. "Well, I did do some crazy stuff. Let's see..." She began to tell Theta highlights of what she did while she was travelling. "I kissed the Blarney Stone in the castle in Ireland. It was kind of hilarious, you have to do it backwards, so that was fun. I had a bit of a head rush afterwards though." She told Theta about the castles she had taken tours through and how some of them were bigger than Hogwarts. "Ireland was so green." She went on to talk about when she visited Germany, "I went to one museum where they've got this miniature train model that's got all kinds of stuff on it. One of the boys who worked there said that they put stuff in the model that you'd have to look really hard to find, I swear that I saw some miniature people getting freaky in the woods..." Sky laughed as she remembered that she had seen that particular part the same time as the elderly lady next to her and the look on the lady's face was priceless. "I didn't do much else too interesting except finding the most interesting places to stay where I stopped travelling for a bit. And then I stopped in Australia. The water is so blue there, and the town I was in, there was a story about this island and mermaids, but I didn't believe it." She thought for a moment, "About the band, I didn't want to at first, but I never really realized I had any artistic talent at all. I guess my twin got all the ability to create drawings of anything, and I got the singing ability. Evidently, according to the guys, I was pretty good. So that's pretty much it. I'm back now... looking to hanging out with people, tormenting my brother.. maybe finding a good English boy to talk to..." she winked at Theta before drinking some more of her water. She hadn't even told this much to Shade, just given him the highlights, maybe she needed more friends of the female variety. 13
Muggle London / Re: [August 19th]Along the Bridle Path[Sasha]December 23, 2017, 04:35:50 PM Sky listened to him talk for a moment before giggling at his Astronomy Tower comment, "You don't strike me as the type to enjoy the Tower for anything other than schoolwork..." she trailed off to see if he would get it, but really she was intrigued by his offer to help him exercise his horses.
"The only thing that was injured when I fell was my pride, but I fell into the bushes so I only received minor scratches." she told him as she thought about riding again. "My brother is very supportive, but at that moment he was being what he was born to be... a boy. And all boys have their moments where they are inconsiderate and sometimes rude." She knew what he meant, but there was one thing Sky liked more than being able to do whatever she wanted and that was her brother. They were twins, they were always going to stand up for one another. "Are you sure you wouldn't mind some help with your horses? I mean, it's been quite a few years since I've been on one, I wouldn't want you to have to refresh my memory instead of riding yourself." She was pretty sure that she could remember how to ride, but like any normal person, she had insecurities, but didn't like to show them to anyone but her brother. "I could be a useless helper, you never know." she said, placing her hand on the horse's nose. 14
Fortescue's / Re: [Aug 21] Sweet Summer Skies [Sky]December 22, 2017, 10:08:29 AM While Sky had been friends with Theta before she left to travel the world, after two years it felt like she had lost contact with most of her friends. Which is why she was here at the ice cream parlor with Theta trying to catch up. Sky took a bite of the ice cream and savored it a bit before swallowing and answering Theta, "Hold on girlie, take a breath between questions would you?" she grinned and took another bite.
Putting the spoon back into the bowl, she focused on Theta's questions. "I left because I wanted some independence away from my over-protective brother, so I went on a travelling spree." She took a breath while thinking about where she went first, "I spent some time in Ireland, went to Germany, I tried Paris for a bit - loved the food, and ended up in Australia." She smiled as she remembered the last 7 months she spent in the beautiful town in Australia. "I made some friends, really cool people, and we started a band for about two months before I decided to come back. I had fun." "What about you?" she nudged Theta with her foot, "What's been up with you? Have you found a bloke yet?" She sipped a glass of water and looked expectantly at her friend. 15
Muggle London / Re: [August 19th]Along the Bridle Path[Sasha]December 22, 2017, 09:57:31 AM Sky took one of the mints from Sasha and held it out to the horse who took it quickly and then resumed the petting she had been giving him before looking back at his rider. "I was more of an outdoor girl at school, I didn't like to be cooped up inside that stuffy old castle. The only time I was in the library was when my twin forced me in there to study before exams."
She looked back at the horse before saying, "Never had any reason to be in the Astronomy Tower except for when we had class up there." She didn't really. She didn't really think of boys other than friends while they were in school, sure she had a crush on one or two, but it never really lasted for more than a week or two. "Hello Wobias, you are a good horse, aren't you?" she told the horse in a soft voice, "I have always loved horses, just haven't ridden one in awhile. I fell off when I was a kid and my twin laughed at me horribly, so I didn't even try again. I adore them though." she said, almost wishing she could ride one at the moment. |
