Career Change

Character Name: Gabriel Sabern
Character Biography: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=11907.0
Previous Job/Position: Student
Position Applying For: Obliviator Trainee

Why have you chosen to change careers?:
He graduated

Elaborate on your expertise in this new field:
None so far! Hence training

Describe your new job and how you go about doing it:
Obliviator things? When not going about obliviating muggles because they saw something they oughtn't have. Otherwise just basic training.

It was too early for this much screaming. The fact that they were in a bathroom was not helping as the sound just echoed and rang in his ears more. If he wasn't fully awake after the shower and knock to his head he was now.

"Juni. Please." If she screamed again she might possibly bust one of his eardrums. "I'm not here to kill you. Your dad let me sleep here after we had to work so late. I'm interning with him and the other obliviators. I go to Hogwarts."

Speaking of her father, he glanced over her shoulder hoping the older man would show up and clear up the whole mess that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

The next few moments hadn't a bit too quickly for his still semi-asleep brain to keep up with. Something slamming hard against his head gave it a bit of a jolt though and he started to think much more quickly. Ignoring the throbbing pain for the moment his gaze quickly took in the figure at the door as she appeared to be searching for a weapon.

She was younger and seemed familiar, possibly he had seen her about at Hogwarts. Mihai did say he had a daughter and had asked if they knew each other. This girl was most likely that daughter. She - Juni - was startled as to his presence. Mihai did not tell her he was staying the night.

Seeing her reach for the plunger he moved and reached with his longer arms, plucking it out of her reach and depositing it on the counter behind him. "Juni, calm down. It's alright."

It was early when Gabriel stepped out of one of the showers at the Zamperia residence. It was seven in the morning. He and Mihai had been up working until two. After such a long night the Obliviator had offered to let intern crash at his place for the night and the remainder of it in which he slept was maybe four hours. The shower helped to wake him up but he would be feeling the lack of sleep later. It seemed he would be one of those that ran on a major amount of coffee today as well.

Drying off he wrapped the towel around his waist before opening the package of a disposable toothbrush. Gabriel doubted they'd miss a small amount of toothpaste. He hadn't eaten just yet but likely they would be headed back into the ministry as soon as he finished eating so better to do it now.

Rinsing his mouth out after tossing the toothbrush he looked towards the door as the handle turned and the door was pushed open.

To Mihai Zamperia,

I am available to start on the 20th. The hours won't be an issue and I'll be more than happy to perfect the art of making pots of coffee past my current experience. I am also more than competent with paper organization and file (homework) fetching.

I'll be at the Department 9 A.M. sharp on the 20th unless plans change and you want me there at an earlier date or time.

From,

Gabriel Sabern

P.S. How do you like your coffee?

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Gabriel Sabern. I am a 7th year Gryffindor at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is my intention to apply to become an Obliviator shortly upon graduation. With the approaching holidays I have decided an internship with the department would be in my best interest if you are in agreement to have me.

If further information is required please let me know ASAP and I will respond as such.

Sincerely,

Gabriel Sabern

Once invited Gabriel joined Zia on the bench, keeping a respectful distance between them. He had been raised to be a gentleman and now it was practically ingrained in almost every action. It was second nature to him by now.

Hearing her remark about being taught Charms 'the right way' had him raising an eyebrow at her, though. Sometimes she got the better of him in class it was true, however he definitely kept her on her toes and made her earn those moments. So he had to grin when that giggle finally escaped her. Staying serious during playful moments wasn't exactly an easy ordeal.

"If we did I believe you'd be the one doing most of the learning, Ms. Piselli." He winked at her.

9

Between the two of them it took no time at all to get the door back where it was supposed to be. Perhaps their competitive natures had something to do with that, but it was all in good fun. Win or lose there were no hard feelings and they just looked forward to the next chance to outdo the other.

Looking down at her he chuckled, "Are you sure you didn't look at it wrong? Antiques are sensitive you know." He glanced at the door as though afraid it might fall over again at his statement then looked back grinning.

"I suppose if you ever knock down another door I could help you out again. It will give us more practice, not that we really need it as far as charms go." Learning a new charm didn't count in that statement. One always had to practice using a new charm, or else the consequences could be very unfortunate.

10

According to the look on Zia's face when she saw him Gabriel assumed she had been worried he had been the professor. Had he been the cause of the door's condition he might have worried about the same thing though probably not to the same extent. At her statement he offered another grin.

"I think that might take some actual effort, though. Nothing like a rusty old door." Gabriel nudged the aforementioned object with his toe and moved inside to test how heavy it was before Zia even started asking for his help.

It wasn't too much on the heavy side. However, he felt levitating it might be easier all around. Standing up fully he offered her a nod of his head allowing himself closer to her and putting distance between him and the door. "Right. I'll hold it steady in place and you repair?"

Pulling out his wand Gabriel waited until Zia confirmed she was ready. Silently he cast the levitation charm and set it where it was supposed to go. "You're turn."

Still feeling the effects of the party last night, in the way of having fun and not studying as he probably should be, Gabriel crossed over the school grounds. He could always practice charms but most of those came easily to the young man it would really only be a touch up more than studying. The Gryffindor wasn't sure what he wanted to do as of yet but this was Hogwarts! Something was bound to be happening somewhere.

Sure enough a loud clanging sound came from the greenhouses and from the sound of it the one where the door had a tendency to get stuck from the cold. Curious he made his way in that direction and as he came closer he saw the door lying on the ground completely off the hinges. It was probably an easy enough of a fix but he had to wonder why the rusty old door would have fallen in the first place.

Seeing Zia inside he grinned broadly at her expression and leaned briefly against the vacant door frame. "Breaking doors now are we, Zia? I wonder what you'll be breaking next," he said good naturedly to his classmate. She was in a different house but he never had any qualms about her.

I want to make him a year younger so that he's a 7th year THIS year

Reworked his history to be thus:

Gabriel was born early in the morning on April 5th, 1991 to his mother Abigail and his proud father Nathaniel Sabern. They had been trying to get pregnant for the better part of two years before their attempts deemed the results they desired. While they would have been equally happy with a daughter, Nathaniel was not-so-secretly thrilled at having a son to whom he could pass on his 'manly' knowledge.

During his early years his personality had already begun to show through. He would babble at strangers on the street, holding full conversations in his own baby language until they moved on only to start another conversation with someone else. Gabriel was also curious about everything he could get his tiny little hands on. His parents had to double check for potential hazards often, there was no telling what he'd get into.

His childhood was spent following his dad around, and when his dad was busy working he would follow his mom. Gabe learned much through observation, and their time spent at each home – half the year in a wizarding home and the other half in a muggle home – had him quickly learning the differences and how to separate them. It wouldn't be good to tell a muggle neighbor his dad had apparated to work early that day.

Then finally the day came when he turned eleven and he received his letter for Hogwarts. His parents were proud, of course, but Gabriel was absolutely thrilled. Abigail reminded him frequently it wasn't just fun and games, lots of work and study were involved to which the young boy would just nod in understanding and wonder about what kinds of new people he'd meet.

His classes were a little bumpy at first but they smoothed out as he got used to the workload and expectations. Flying class never went very smooth, however, since as a boy he had an accident on a training broom that caused him to have a broken nose, cracked ribs, and multiple lacerations and he never fully got over it. By the end of the year, however, he was at least roughly average when it came to flying on a broom.

Over the following years Gabriel became active in many festivities, a few clubs, and he never missed watching a Quidditch game for some good, friendly competition. Of course they weren't always so friendly, people got very upset about wins and losses.

The only real big change during the years was when his younger brother, Aaric, was born August 17th, 2005. Gabriel took very well to being a big brother and would often play with his younger sibling and watch him so his parents could have some relaxation while he was home, so long as he wasn't busy with his horse or dog anyway.

Now entering his 7th year Gabriel looks forward to finishing with a bang and making memories that he'll enjoy carrying with him for the rest of his life.

Why do you wish to change these area(s):
I had intended for Gabriel to be a pure blood originally but became lazy/overwhelmed, with Kit's help I've fixed that issue.

His history change isn't really a big deal but it was bothering me so I reworked it to make it more about him and not about his pets.

His age is because I'm not ready for him to be an adult yet and since he wasn't played much at all before he became inactive I didn't see much of an issue.

Other characters this may affect:
Should be none.

Gabriel paused at her squeaked outburst and turned to look at her. "That's funny... I was here trying to figure out how to apologize to you for sounding rude. I don't hate you or anything like that." This had all gotten entirely out of hand very very quickly. He wasn't even sure how it all came about really.

Leaning against the table he looked to her, wondering how it would be best to fix this mess. If it was a fixable mess at all anyway...

The Straight Path Charm. Gabriel's smile disappeared as he looked on. That was a spell he had heard of and done... though admittedly not with water. Using it in dueling sounded promising though. Granted he wasn't the best at dueling, but learning how to use any charm spell on the fly was handy. Still... a brand new charm would have been nice.

Stepping he heaved a small sigh and pulled out his wand. Being soaking wet from the professor's sneaky demonstration didn't bother him in the least, and he acted like he wasn't even wet. Pointing it at the water he began waving it in the proper fashion, concentrated, and said in a nice clear voice, "Averte Pedeum A Tuum A Malo."

As the water began to part like it had with the other students Gabriel walked forward, willing the water to do what he wanted before his next footfall. Reaching the other side, he broke concentration and let it crash back together. It was quite possible he let it crash back a little more forceful than necessary to splash the other students again - quite a few had appeared put out at being wet. Smirking faintly he glanced to the professors as he headed back to his spot.

"Well, that's alright, really. Not a big deal." And it wouldn't have been, if he didn't feel like such an ass. If she was busy and wanted to rely on her own skill that was her choice. His offer had been meant only in the friendliest and helpful of ways and somehow it seemed to have backfired on them both. So, she went back over to her table and things and he turned back to his.

With a soft sigh he looked at the now giant stuffed squirrel which seemed to stare at him. Glaring at it he silently practiced several different charms on it, and when it came out looking worse for wear that was its own fault for staring at him so. Chuckling softly to himself he returned it to normal and just shook his head.
