“Ravindar, Transfiguration, and Camille, Arithmancy” Eupraxia’s face lit up as she repeated the other professors’ names. “So nice to meet you.” She had always made it a point of never forgetting someone’s face or name, and it was not something she would stop doing now. With a smile she took a swig of the glass of wine in front of her.
”...as we were quite expecting you first thing this morning!”
With the last comment Eupraxia looked up with a bewildered look on her face. This morning? That must be a misunderstanding. From their part of course, not hers, since Professor Greyfriar hadn’t given her a specific time for her to arrive. She remembered it clearly - Monday the nineteenth of March. No mention of a time. She cocked her head to the side, much like a cat, and peered back at Camille.
“This morning? That’s news to me,” she said, and then shrugged. “No bother, dear, I am here now, no need to dwell on the past. Could you pass me the gravy, Ravindar?”
She smiled at her two new colleagues, as the buzz of the students grew louder in the great all. Eupraxia, being who she was, didn’t notice that, nor that most of the students were staring at her and obviously discussing her sudden appearance. Those kinds of things rarely bothered her, and it seemed like it didn’t even register as something unusual. That was, until a girl at the Slytherin table stood up and exclaimed something loudly. Even that might have escaped Eupraxia’s notice, if it hadn’t been for the girl’s mention of Challenges in Charming.
A wide smile spread across Eupraxia’s face as she turned back to the professors.
“And who might that lovely young woman be?” she asked, still glancing over to the Slytherin table.

Charms Classroom / [March 22nd] Adult Education (NEWTs)November 16, 2020, 12:57:50 PM Charms N.E.W.T. Thursday, March 22nd @ 8:00AM ![]() The clouds outside were finally breaking up, and the morning sun lit up the Charms classroom with a warm and welcoming glow. On a side table behind the desk a gramophone was playing an upbeat jazz tune, and a gilded serving trolley stood in the middle of the room, filled with crystal wine glasses of different sizes and shapes. And in front of the desk stood Professor Wandsworth, rocking back and forth on her heels, and humming along to the music. She glanced at the little clock above the door, slowly making its way to eight o clock. She was excited, as this would be her first proper lesson as Charms Master at Hogwarts, and she was determined to put her best foot forward. She had been at the school since Monday[1], but had insisted that she first must settle in before she could start teaching. After all, a Professor needed their right environment to be able to teach. Or so she assumed. And then the first two students arrived — two Gryffindor girls laughing amongst each other before they saw the Professor, stopping abruptly. The Professor waved at them, as more students started filing into the classroom. “Please, everyone,” Professor Wandsworth said, gesturing towards the serving trolley. “Take a glass before you sit down.” As the classroom filled up, and the students, one by one, grabbed a glass and sat down, the Professor could feel a tingly feeling in her stomach. This was it! When the last student had sat down she spread open her arms in greeting. “Welcome, sixth years,” she said in a sing-song tune. “Welcome to Charms! My name is Professor Wandsworth, and I will be your new teacher. I hope you’ll have as much fun as I will, and I thought I would start us off with something fun!” She turned around and leaned over the table, fishing a bottle of vinegar out from behind. She held it up for everyone to see, before pouring the pale yellowish liquid into a glass. With a smooth movement she protruded her wand from somewhere beneath her knitted layers, and gave it an elegant swish over the glass, and said clearly: “Fiovino!” The liquid in the glass started spinning, and slowly but surely turned from its previous colour to a deep crimson. She held it up for the class to see, before putting it to the lips and gulping it down. “Today we’ll be turning vinegar into wine,” she said, grinning, as she put the glass down on her desk. “You’ll all soon be of age, if some of you aren’t already, so I thought it to be ample opportunity to teach you this very important spell.” She waved her wand again, and from behind the desk five more bottles of vinegar floated up in the air and started moving around the room, filling the students glasses. As they did, Professor Wandsworth spoke again. “Before we go into the specifics, who would like to give it a shot?”
Assume your student is on time. If you want them to be late, send a PM and we can work around it. Also my first time doing a lesson, so please tell me if I’m doing anything wrong.

Great Hall / Re: [March 18th] Not Another Monday (Open)November 09, 2020, 09:15:54 AM If the students gawking faces and sniggers bothered Eupraxia, she didn’t show it. Instead she smiled and waved back at them as she made her way between the tables. In front, by the teachers table, a tall man dressed neatly and wearing a turban stood up and greeted her welcome. Eupraxia’s smile broadened even further, and she gave a bow as she reached the table, causing her cat to yelp and jump off her shoulder.
“Thank you, Professor,” she said, as she straightened up. “You can’t understand how excited I’ve been to get here.” A chair pulled back by itself, and Eupraxia accepted its invitation, making her way around the table. She let her duffel bag fall with a thump which sounded heavier than could be expected, and sat down, unravelling her scarf. The thousands of faces from the House tables were still staring at her, and an ever increasing murmur had arisen from the students as they were pointing at her and whispering between themselves. ”Have you had a dreadful journey, Professor Wandsworth?” A poised woman with a lovely set of dark curls, and blue eyes that rivalled Eupraxia, had asked the question. Of course, Eupraxia didn’t know who she was yet, but she was one of the first to talk to her, and Eupraxia had a feeling the two of them would get along like a house on fire. “Dreadful? Oh, no, dear,” she replied and waved the pine wand she had produced from inside her cloaks, making the goblet in front of her fill up with sherry. “I find the walk from Hogsmeade quite refreshing. I haven’t brought everything from my old cottage yet. As you can imagine, it’s a bit much for an old witch like me to carry. But walking through those gates always gives me a sense of belonging, you know?” She smiled at the witch, and waved her wand again, making a piece of shepherd’s pie appear on her plate. “So what’s your subject of choice?” she asked the two Professors as she started digging in at the plate in front of her. “Must be so exciting, sharing that knowledge, isn’t it dear?” 4
Niklas / The Wandsworth CatsNovember 02, 2020, 01:34:17 PM The Wandsworth Cats Eupraxia has three cats, each of which she’d describe as her children. She loves them with all their heart, but sometimes, just like children, they get on her nerves. Together the four of them live together in the East Tower on the fifth floor. Note: Each of these are considered NPCs and are free to use during any threads taking place in Hogwarts or on the grounds. ![]() PYEWACKET Pyewacket (Pye for short) is a black Burmese cat, and Eupraxia’s constant follower. He rarely leaves his owner’s side during the day, and during the Professor’s classes Pyewacket is either sleeping at her desk, or walking around the students legs. He’s a smart cat and loving cat, sometimes even delivers messages for Eupraxia, and doesn’t mind students patting him during lessons. ![]() GREEDIGUT Greedigut is an Himalayan that you could only describe as lazy. He spends most of his days sleeping on various surfaces, and only really gets up to move when there’s food around. And by food, I mean him being fed. Seeing a mouse might make him stir and take a leap trying to catch it, but it usually stops there, and Greedigut returns to wherever he was sleeping before. He is overweight and snores loudly. ![]() JARMARA Jarmara is a Peterbald, and Eupraxia’s only female cat. She is very poised and elegant in her movements, and the most self sufficient of the three. You can often find her walking around the castle exploring crannies and nooks, and hunting mice. She is a bit weary of new people, but will let people she recognises stroke her, as long as it’s light and doesn’t mess up her fur. 5
East Tower: Charms Professor's Office / Professor Wandsworth's OfficeNovember 02, 2020, 12:44:37 PM OFFICE of PROFESSOR WANDSWORTH Professor of Charms ![]() It didn’t take long for Professor Wandsworth to put her own flair in her office. Rugs of different shapes, sizes and colours cover the stone flooring, and the walls are covered in paintings, taxi- dermy, and woven tapestries. By the windows, and through the doorway leading to her bedroom, beaded curtains in earthy colours hang. The desk is sat next to the north window, with multiple black- boards which are more often than not covered in notes on spells and charms. Her desk is littered with parchment and homework, seemingly without any real organisation, and most of the time one of Wandsworth’s cats is asleep on top of the pile. There are armchairs and footstools which are free for her visitors to use as they please. If the Professor is in there will be scented candles lit, which fills the room with sweet and spicy smell; the gramophone in the corner will be on, playing jazzy tunes; bewitched needles knitting in a corner; and a cup of steaming nettle tea leaving rings on parchments. Wandsworth thinks the best approach is to have an open-door policy, and she would never turn away a student or fellow staff member coming to visit her. 6
Niklas / Plot Listing: Eupraxia WandsworthNovember 02, 2020, 11:01:27 AM EUPRAXIA WANDSWORTH Charms Professor 7
Great Hall / [March 19th] Not Another Monday (Open)November 02, 2020, 07:00:38 AM Eupraxia was perfectly brimming with excitement, as she walked through the large wooden doors into Hogwarts proper and sat down her duffel bag on the floor. She had, of course, visited from time to time, and she always felt at home in its corridors, brimming with magic. But this was different. She could almost liken it to the first time she had ever been to the castle, to when she got sorted. For the first time in over sixty years she would once again call Hogwarts home.
Today was the day she started her job teaching Charms. Or, well, even though practically this was the day she started, Eupraxia was late. It had been stated that she was to start on Monday the nineteenth of March, and here she was. Most people would've assumed (and rightfully so) that they should’ve arrived the day before, to be ready to commence class on the Monday morning, but Eupraxia had committed to arriving on the set date. Time didn’t really matter. Plus, one of her cats, Greedigut, had decided to get lost in the field behind her house, and it had taken her a great deal of effort to get him back. In her mind, she was perfectly on time. Teaching was something she had never in her thought she would be doing, but when everything had fallen into place, and it had clicked in her head, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world. So natural that she had wondered why she hadn’t thought of it earlier. She was happy that Professor Greyfriar had accepted her application, even though she lacked any real teaching experience. But that was about to change now. She came to a halt in the great entrance hall, and a smile spread over her lips. It was all so familiar; the grand staircase right in front of her, leading to all the false doors and missing steps; the giant hourglasses measuring how well the students were doing; and the warmth and laughter now streaming out of the Great Hall to her right. It was dinnertime, and she could see the heads of the students and the lights floating in the air above them, and the bewitched sealing beyond that. Of course the memories of the Battle flooded back to her. That was inevitable. The rage, the horror, and the bloodshed would never truly leave her mind. And the fact that her own son had perished by the hands of those horrid followers of You-Know-Who. But she only let the memory be there for a second, before she shook it off herself and replaced it with happier thoughts. After the War she had decided that the only way to look was forward, that dwelling on the past wouldn’t get her anywhere. And it wouldn’t do any good if she wished to excel in her new position. After all, she couldn’t imagine students learning much if all she did was mope around. Eupraxia’s knitted scarf had fallen off her shoulders when she stopped, and she threw it back around her neck, scratched her cat Pyewacket (currently half asleep on her shoulder), and picked up the tattered mended duffel bag off the floor. She took a deep breath, and, slightly lopsided because of the weight, she marched into the Great Hall with a beaming smile on her face. “Eupraxia Wandsworth,” she said in a loud excited voice that she hoped carried across the house tables and all the way to the staff table. “Reporting for duty!” 8

But even though she’s only reaching 4’4” off the ground, she is easily recognisable. She has a spring in her step, despite her age, and her large mane of untidy and incredibly curly blonde (slowly turning into white) hair are her trademarks. She is slim, her hands almost skeletal in their shape, and she is often dressed in a way that gives the impression that she put them on in the dark.Character Birthday & Age: 11th June, 1933, 78 years old City & Country of Birth: Isle of Wight, UK Blood Purity: Half-blood Alma Mater: Hogwarts, Ravenclaw Job/Position: Charms Professor ![]() Wand: Pine and phoenix feather, 11 inches, slightly springy Physical Description: Her face is gaunt, and her clear blue eyes often have a wild look about them. She usually wears dark make-up around her eyes, and big earrings that stretch her earlobes to the full can often be heard clanking as she walks. Wrinkles have set in on her face, her porcelain-coloured skin feeling the pull of gravitation. She would easily look eerie and malevolent, if it wasn’t for the bright smile that often played on her lips. Personality Description: Eupraxia is full of high spirit. She always tries to see things on the bright side, and is never far from a smile or a kind word. She is extremely open-minded, and often supports people with whatever they put their mind to. It is what makes her a good teacher, and what often makes her well-liked. But this personality can often come across as annoying and fake to people with a more cynical world-view, and a lot of people can’t stand her optimism. Of course, Eupraxia never notices this. Some more ill-spirited people would call Eupraxia eccentric, thought it has never bothered her. She does enjoy spending days upon days locked in a room, with books on spells and charms, experimenting with what new ways she can bend magic. She still connects very well to the child within her, and is very playful. Yes, her knees might groan and her back might ache, but she’ll-be-damned if she can’t join the students in their adventures. However, she often digs herself too deep into whatever she talks about, and can often lose her original train of thought. More often than not, her lessons turn into discussions about the intricacies of a specific flick of the wand, or from what source a certain spell gets its power from, than on how to actually perform said charm. When it comes to magic, she often becomes ecstatic, as nothing excites her as much as magic. History: Eupraxia Wandsworth grew up as the younger sister to a wizard father and muggle mother on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. Her father was a journalist for the Daily Prophet, and her mother was a preschool teacher. Her older sister never received her letter for Hogwarts, and Euprixia’s mother was at first terrified that her second daughter would also turn out to be a squib, but her fears were soon disappearing when Eupraxia started showing signs of magic from a very early age. Their neighbour’s cat turned pink; toys floated into Eupraxia’s arms when she wanted; and when she once crawled out of the window on the second floor, she bounced all the way down to the beach.Eupraxia couldn’t wait to attend Hogwarts after all the stories her mother had told her, and she really couldn’t wait to get a wand. The hat didn’t take long to decide, and she was placed into Ravenclaw, where she instantly felt at home. Here she was amongst other witches and wizards eager to explore just how far you could stretch magic, and what you could make it do for you. She quickly showed prowess in her wandwork, and Charms quickly became both her favourite and best subject. She graduated with an Outstanding in her Charms N.E.W.T.s, and after school she was offered a job in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. She turned out to be good at her job, and enjoyed it in the beginning, but after a year or so she felt herself grew tired. She wanted to do magic, not just fix mistakes that others had done. But she wasn’t sure where to go, or what to do next, so she stayed. It was during her work at the Ministry where she met Howard Cobb, a Department of Magical Transportation employee, and the two fell madly in love. Many would liken their relationship to a stormy sea, and the couple broke up and got back together more times than anyone cared to keep track of. Eupraxia fell pregnant, and the couple had a little boy, but even that couldn’t save them, and soon after they split for good. Howard was still in the picture for her son’s upbringing, but him and Eupraxia weren’t really on amicable terms, so when Howard died in ‘92, Eupraxia politely, but firmly, denied the invitation to his funeral. It wasn’t until her son went to attend Hogwarts that Eupraxia decided to leave the Ministry. She had been there long enough, and could feel herself getting too restless to stay. So she bought a little shop in Diagon Alley with some money she had saved up, and set up Wandsworth’s Helping Wand. Her plan for the store was to help customers with tricky requests when it came to charms and spells, and to have her own place where she could spend whatever free time she had to see if she could invent some new ones. But then the Wizarding War happened, and times became uneasy. The customers weren’t there, the rent still needed to get paid, and she started getting visitors who demanded she’d come and work for You-Know-Who. The visitors became more and more frequent, until Eupraxia didn’t see any other choice but to go on the run. For years she was running from the Death Eaters, cleverly avoiding capture and outspelling whatever unfortunate soul that had been tasked with following her. This continued until You-Know-Who’s downfall, and when she finally could return to Wandsworth’s Helping Wand, the store was in ruin. It was with a broken heart she sold the property (for half of what she had paid for it), and moved back to the Isle of Spright. There she became somewhat of a recluse, keeping to herself, tinkering with spellbooks, and playing with her cats. Even her son, who previously she had maintained a somewhat sporadic contact with, stopped visiting, and before long people forgot about her. Now and again she ventured to Diagon Alley to top up supplies, and if she ever ran into someone she knew they would be surprised to see her. For some reason, most people had thought she had died at the hands of the Death Eaters. So when rumours that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had returned first started circulating, Eupraxia first decided to lay low. She remembered vividly the broken life she had had to endure during his first reign of terror, and she didn’t want to get involved. And since she was quite far removed from the wizarding society at large at that point, she got most of her information through the Daily Prophet, which at the time was not very reliable. It wasn’t until an old friend of hers, Professor Filius Flitwick, came to visit her at her little cottage that she realised how grave times had turned. You-Know-Who had indeed returned, and things that had been brewing were now bubbling at the surface. On the professors request, she packed a small bag and rented a room at the Three Broomsticks. Whenever Flitwick could escape from the castle, the two of them spent the nights in the little room, plotting and scheming, coming up with the best protective charms to keep their students safe. When the Battle of Hogwarts happened, Eupraxia was one of the first ones to arrive. Her wand at the ready, standing beside her old friend, she took on Voldemort’s army. She was surprised to see her son, now a grown man with children of his own, stand there as well - back straight, one arm around his mother. The two fought alongside each other, valiantly, but before the battle was over, her son passed away. It was a night that would live forever in her memory. The heartache, the twisted adrenaline, and the bloodthirst of the battleground. After the War was over, and You-Know-Who had been defeated by the young man with the ruffled hair and lightning scar, Eupraxia made a decision. She had spent too long time away from wizarding society, and she felt the world had more to offer than her little cottage on the Isle of Wight. So she decided to stay in Hogsmeade, and before long had befriended most of the people in the village. She became a prolific writer for Challenges in Charming, and during the weekends when the students of Hogwarts came to visit, she spent as much time as she could getting to know the new generations. Years later, when the position as Charms professor at the school became vacant, Eupraxia finally knew what she was meant to do - teaching. That way she could not only share her love of magic and spellwork, she would also be able to surround herself with the young witches and wizards who eagerly wanted to know more. And that’s where she is now. She moved into the castle with her three cats, and feels like she’s finally found home. Describe your job duties and how you go about them: As Charms professor at Hogwarts, Eupraxia’s role is to share her extensive knowledge to the younger generations. It is a job she thoroughly enjoys, and her classes are usually more practical than theoretical. Some classes have a tendency to just turn into long discussions between the professor and her students, instead of proper learning, which might rub some of the other professors the wrong way. But she is well-liked enough to (mostly) get away with it. She is very good at remembering her students' names, and often becomes friends with them, taking interest in their interests. It isn’t unheard of for Eupraxia to join in school clubs, or volunteer to chaperone for any excursions that needs doing, and she has this way of encouraging her students to do better. Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Eupraxia has since a young age been fascinated with charms and spells, and has always shown a natural affinity for them. From the moment she was allowed her own wand she spent her time tinkering with the ins and outs of magic, and pushed the limits for how far she could use it. She spent a long time working in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, where she got an even deeper understanding of the inner workings, and how to reset unwanted spells. Leading up to the Battle of Hogwarts she also spent a significant time with Professor Flitwick, the two of them being friends from school, and even though the exchange was mostly mutual, Eupraxia learned a lot from the Charms Master. Sum up your character in one paragraph: The slightly eccentric, and extremely optimistic, Charms professor at Hogwarts is a recognisable old witch. Her blonde curls and crystal blue eyes are easily recognisable, and her classes are often filled with fantastic feats of magic and spells. Yes, she can sometimes lose her train of thought and go on tangents about the proper way to hold your wand, but she is still very liked. And don’t forget to grab a sweet from the jar on her desk before you leave class. |
