But May 2, 2008 will be the biggest yet.
- But what of the dark signs that have been seen in the sky in Lancashire? In the eyes of the statue of Eros in Piccadily Circus? The strange shadows that have been cast on the white cliffs of Dover? And has the Minister of Magic seen a grim? Are these meaningless rumors of the paranoid? Or are they signs of growing darkness?
- But all agree with quiet benediction: "Absit Omen, let there be no evil here."
Full Plot Summary- The murders on Remembering Day broke the ice that the wizarding citizens built around themselves in the decade that followed the Second Wizarding War. Ex-Azzie Theodora Kingstreet, convicted of high treason when she manipulated the system to assist Voldemort in his conquest of the Ministry, was released on good behavior and unleashed once again on the wizarding world. Contacting an ambitious young Ravenclaw Student by the name of Devlin Matthews, Kingstreet began to form a plan to remove the current Minister of Magic. Using Matthews as her henchman, she stole the identity of a delinquent student named Kyle Gibson and used it to transform a hired hitman, Marc Donnelly, into his likeness. At the Remembering Day Events held at Hogwarts, Theodora took the stage to give a speech. During her speech, the disguised hitman stormed the stage, pretending to attack her, and instead killed two innocent Aurors, Timmons and Carter, before escaping.
The Remembering Day attacks lead to the resignation of the school's beloved Headmaster, Knox Greyfriar, who felt personally responsible for Kyle's attack. Meanwhile, Department of Mysteries head, Analiza Snark, tries to convince the Minister that her plans to build the wizard equivalent of the A-Bomb is beneficial to the wizarding world as a whole, and the British Ministry specifically. Minister Annwyl refuses and Snark is forced to look elsewhere for the creation of her legacy. She focuses on the school, well known for having it's share of secrets over the years, and worms her way into the position of Headmistress, much to the horror of Greyfriar. Before she can work on her project without interuption, Analiza must create a distraction. To do so, she has picked the most controversial subject the school has dealt with in recent years: the allowance of Lycanthropy-infected students, IE werewolves, to attend Hogwarts. Upon discovering that Hufflepuff student, Olivia Foley, was indeed one such individual (and that Greyfriar kept her condition a secret), Analiza promptly expelled the student. Naturally, this caused quite an uproar. Though she has a few of the professors and many parents on her side, students and professors alike have gathered together to form SAWS and PAWS, two werewolf rights groups determined to change the ruling and allow werewolf students to attend the school freely. Knowing that she must remain in power to continue her work, Analiza hires none other than Devlin Matthews to frame SAWS for a series of vandalism crimes against the school, encouraging her allies to believe the group is nothing more then a terrorist organization. Meanwhile, Ex-Azzie and Purist Cináed Tawse is busy encouraging the reemergence of the Pureblood culture in the form of the Wizarding Blood Alliance. Using an imperioused student named Ava Grosvenor, he has infiltrated Hogwarts and is disturbed by what he sees there. In the chaos formed by the Headmistress, he intends on instituting a few reforms himself. But before he can change the school, he must first change the ministry. He starts this with the kidnapping and torture of innocent Akiva Katz, a ministry librarian, throwing the ministry into a tizzy as they try to figure out who is behind these new crimes.
- And then there is the case of the strange artifact that Professor Reid brought back from Egypt. Its connection to the unsavory parts of ancient Egyptian magic may spell doom for the wizarding world in the future. But who knows what the future holds? Will Ana's weapon be successful or will it be discovered before fruition? Will SAWS regain their reputation and put an end to the discrimination of werewolves or will they unintentionally start a war? Will Tawse bring down the ministry and turn Hogwarts into a factory for spitting out perfect little purebloods or will he be struck down in his prime? And what of this artifact and the mysterious cult surrounding its past? No one knows. All they can do is keep their heads held high, eyes forward and a silent prayer on their lips: "Absit Omen: Let there be no evil here".
